  1. I think TC could be wanting dynamic AI movement like running to cover. I read in another post that this is in the works for all ground units in future moduals.
  2. Hind had infantry that moved and stuff (got in and out of your helicopter). It's a normal occurance in Helicopter sims. Longbow, EE etc...
  3. Also is there a fix comming so that allowing other cores will boost performance in XP? Or more importantly give the sim true multi-core support?
  4. I was refering more to the authority to call in support, so when you radio for support they don't tell you to get off the frequency. Western armies have made their doctrines very fluid so I'd expect that helicopters can call in support but Eastern Soviet based armies are still ridged in this area so only dedicated FOs can request support in most cases. Does anyone know how modern Russian doctrine handles support, Western or Soviet like?
  5. Does Russian (any?) doctrine allow for air and artillary strikes to be called in by a helicopter?
  6. Yes it is a bit mean but you have remember that Freetrack in DCS works off the resources that NP paid for.
  7. How did ED get permission to do the A-10C? I thought they'd still be partly classified?

I've been watching all the BS videos eagerly waiting for the Western release of BS but I can't help notice the huge difference between aircraft destruction and ground unit destruction special effects. Ground units either blow up with the same explosion and fire each time or burn for a moment then blow up, I could write a page on how many different things I've seen with air units being destroyed. Ofcourse this is mainly due to the engine being built for A2A and the effects were improved greatly in FC aswell. I'd love to see new ways for ground units to meet their demise. New fire, sparks, smoke and explosion effects. Death animations for units like the turret blowing off a tank or a moving jeep rolling over. Maybe you could have little people running out of the vehicles like in Il'2?
  10. ED made the Flanker series? Cool that was my favorite sim for ages (Flanker 1.0), I choose my nickname after I played it.
  11. Yeah the Ka-50 should be fine for rough landings as was the Su-25T. All the other planes just blow up the second you touched the ground with anything but the wheels and part of the bottom.
  12. In the vid he seemed to think that he messed up his AA vikhr shot by setting the aspect wrong. Is this correct an you set the aspect for the AA fuse?
  13. Supposed to be depleted uranium in their armor and the amount of radioactive decay emissions needed to stop a missile would be phenomenal (like it would kill everything standing 100ms from the tank instantly).
  14. Radioactive armor?! What you talking about?! Only the front turret armor on the M1A2 is strong enough to stop a Vikhr and that's only just, does DCS model the difference between the front turret and hull? However the kinetic energy may just be enough to let it penetrate the front turret.
  15. Cool does this mean it should work better now? In FC's bigger airfields I had to turn the building distance down so much that I couldn't see a building that was further down the runway from the runway start and I was running with a top end (for the time) 7800GTX with the best CPU of the time.
  16. Considering you have to turn the building render distance right down for FC in airbases even on a high end comp. I'm guessing we won't be seeing any of these scenes in BS with a playable framerate. Ohh and they do look quite nice.
  17. How will this have any effect on the simulator? No one has a joystick that can emulate the effect.

He seems to be asking for component damage (killing a vehicle by just killing the crew, knocking out the tracks or engine etc) on vehicles not infantry AI, this is not going in DCS yet but is important due to the Air to ground nature of the first 3 aircraft. Also that fist video on the first page is a game, it's Project Reality mod for Bf2 with the audio from that old apache vid spliced into it.
  19. I just turned the LOD1 all the way up (atleast till you couldn't see the boxes anyway), I thought the boxes looked dumb. The camera zoom showing buildings thing is great, I used to get pissed when my missile hit a building that wasn't visible! Speaking of the LOD1, while I hate it for units can some similar system be used for buildings? I'd like to be able to spot buildings from further away (I turn them right down since it kicks my comp in the nuts). Like instead of buildings being invisible or visible with high detail could low detail (shapes with low textures to just coloured shapes for extreme range) be added so they can be seen right out to the horizon?
  20. Since choppers will be the main air enemy you'll fight in BS, will there be surgical precision with the damage models for them this time? Can I shoot off rotors blades and damage individual parts of their engines etc...

  22. Second video's already gone! Yeah the Mi-24 can mount MGs in it's crew compartment.

  24. Can't we just agree that helicopters in general are deathtraps?
