GTX 970 is the best card for the money. Love mine but like you said you may want to wait.

Hmm are you sure your using a new HDMI 2.0 cable. That could be the reason your not getting, 60hz. It only works with a 2.0 cable.

I run 4K 60hz on a Vizio 50"... when I first got it I was having problems with a serious lag of sorts with the mouse. It was super slow and almost ghosting. I went into the GTX 970s Nvidia control panel and looked at the settings. They were at 3840x2160 30Hz. I changed that to 60Hz and everything was fast crisp and working correctly. Not sure if that will help but it might be worth it to check your settings.

Well I got motivated to build a new cockpit for the upcoming F-18. I was previously in my theater room on a projection screen. After reading this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=117483&highlight=4k and all of the people ditching their current setups for a single large 4K monitor I started looking for a 4K that was around 50". I found a nice Vizio 50" that has a full 4K 60Hz HDMI 2.0 input. I then started to build around it with the idea of the 50" 4K as the center piece and a 22" 1080P monitor mounted below for my instrument cluster in the F-18. I found a nice sports car seat at the salvage yard($30 :D ) and came up with my own design that was close to the ACES II and still very comfortable(I know the F-18 uses NACES lol...I just went with ACES:D). I also built two consoles left and right that are the exact dimensions for the F-18. So I can someday add all of the switch panels if I choose to do so. So here are some pics of the build: Started with this... Ended with this... Also I mounted two Aura Bass shakers under the seat. That are powered by a sub amp located behind the throttle on the left console. I can feel bumps, engines etc real immersive. And I went ahead and added another GTX 970 to the computer to SLI.

Correction by far the deadliest most capable plane in the world: ) Article is pure crap. The US Military is still by far the most powerful and technologically advanced in the world. And it's western allies are way ahead of anything in the east. Was cutting the F-22 short a mistake? Absolutely! I know it would be very costly but we did save the tooling. Maybe we'll kick it back into production some day. Till then 190 F-22s capable of handling 6 to 1 odds are just fine...

The collapsable bar on the Zero attaches on the outside of the strut. In the cad pic it attaches in the middle.... Not possible for it to be the Zero unless that rendering is way way off.

Upon closer inspection it can't be the Zero, F-4, F-16, or F-5...

Well after we consulting the trained eyes of one of our squadron mates who happens to be in the air force. He believes its the gear of an F-4. If you look at the rear gear it's almost a dead ringer!

If you really look hard it could easily be. Definitely not the F-5...

Baker, Any chance you can add to the list of future add-ons to do full color exporting of all three MFCD displays in the F-18C(when it comes out of course)? The Canadian(and Spanish I believe)F-18Cs have had this upgrade done shop it would be accurate to the CF-18.

I think your selling the F-14 short big time. The F-14 can turn inside the F-15 by most accounts at least on its initial turn ability. It should bleed of energy more quickly but it was no slouch. It is easily the best interceptor ever made but it wasn't a bad dog fighter. Probably one of the coolest designs in aviation history! Can't wait for it. Although I'll primarily be a hornet driver if it ever releases lol.

Just bought a 50" 4k that I will have mounted close. Did a quick test at 4k 60hz and Wow!!! Unbelievable! The only real downside I can see is at 4k I cant read the text from AWACS etc in the top left lol but that's a small thing to give up for the visuals!

Had my Warthog for a few weeks now. Works perfectly! Best setup I've owned!

Yeah no slight or insult. I was just correcting the fact that Iran had the most Air to Air combat but the US pilots certainly had years and years of experience flying actual combat missions in two wars with the F-14. And yes due to a technological and equipment superiority the Iraqi Air Force refused to take to the air and challenge the US.

I simply mean the Navy F-14s saw plenty of combat. In fact they likely flew more combat missions than Iranian F-14s over Iraq and Afghanistan up until their retirement in 2006. They didn't see a whole lot of A to A combat because as I stated no one has willing to go toe to toe with any US forces....it wasn't a insult or slight to Iranian pilots just stating facts...

Surely you are joking! Iron Eagle was one of the greats! I watched that movie more times than I can count when I was a kid. Awesome movie!

There fixed it for you;) And that's usually the case with most US fighters. Nobody wants to come up and challenge them so short of some opening day kills every engagement in the last 20+ years has been limited. Then the opposing Air Force is obliterated on the ground...
