This thread had gone way off track. Why are we even discussing price. There's no chance this is going to be a $500 or $100 module. It'll be just like any other module. As far as the significance of the F-14. It is easily more very popular than any other plane currently in the DCS world. So it will be purchased in mass...

I think the best way to get this thread firmly back on track would be a Mid March update:thumbup::music_whistling: I'd be glued to the tracks then...

I saw an interview somewhere with Tom Cruise and he hinted the script would be a human pilots being replaced by drones type of plot and Maverick comes in to save the day...kinda sounded like Stealth 2.0 but a little more based in reality.

It wouldn't make any sense. As stated before way too small of a target audience. 1. Anyone playing DCS would seek out and watch anything related to aviation anyway. 2. Paramount would have zero interest in doing a promotion on a 29-30 year old movie. If they do make a Top Gun 2 it will have nothing to do with with the F-14. Let's just let LN do a great job as they already are and enjoy a Tomcat soon:D

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I know how to employ the weapons and survive. Just saying the non AA fire is too accurate. The chance of a bmp or tank crew member hitting a moving A-10 should be incredibly difficult even with their knowledge of leading a moving target(which anyone whose hunted knows in addition to the military). No big deal either way. I'm not unfairly criticising DCS. Its just an area they could improve upon. Still the best and most accurate simulator out there IMO.

It's certainly something that can be overcome with higher altitudes and tactics but it is still very unrealistic. Honestly once the AAA and SAMs have been dealt with you should be able to attack without much worry or accurate fire coming from BMPs and T-72s...

It is a valid point though. Non AAA units are way too accurate and completely unrealistic in DCS. Hopefully they gets fixed going forward into DCS 2.0.

Honestly never liked the glove vanes. Just model it correct to the block your doing and don't waste time with the glove vanes. We'll all be happier with a F-14 to fly sooner!

It sounds like your Resin non metal option is the way to go. If the we quality and pricing is right I'll likely pick up a set for the F-18.

That's really disappointing if so... Pretty much unacceptable! I'm not looking for a new edition. But they broke the game with this new release. CBUs are not usuable at all....and it seems to be a universal problem with everyone. Either give us a fix or 2.0 this weekend ED!

When is a fix/patch going to be released so we can start using CBUs again? This is getting a bit old...

I play on a 135" 1080P projection setup(10ft wide 7ft tall). I've actually built a sim rig that plugs into one of my theater chair cup holders. I have the TM Warthog mounted along with a USB monitor running UltraMFCD with TM MFD overlays. My viewpoint is correct the right scale picture is LCD/Plasma quality and it is awesome with TrackIR.

Focusing completely on technology and not politics... Iran is TRYING to get to where the US was in nuclear munitions 65 years ago. Knowing how much maintenance a F-14 requires(especially F-14As from 1978 ) and the fact that maintenance is the true reason they are retired from USN service not technology or performance. I think it's a very good possibility those are parts mules.... They don't look like aircraft being updated to me.

Honestly I think it's far more likely those are parts mules on stands.... Probably the only way they're helping a few Tomcats flying. It's probably more like 10-20 and the others are probably being scrapped for parts...

I agree! Really hope we eventually see the F-14D! It would be my perfect DCS aircraft... I still love to do some bombing.

They've really thrown down the gauntlet! If they release a F-14 module this year and ED is still working on their endless F/A-18C project that will be pretty crazy... I'm personally hoping for the Tomcat and Hornet this year but I won't hold my breath for the Hornet....

So I wonder if the Air to Ground radar they got working is for a new plane or a future release of the F-14D??? Either way I am so happy to get a Tomcat in DCS! I hope it comes with Carrier ops day one. I really don't want to land in a normal runway anymore:joystick:

But if it's the F-14D it will be not only Multi-role but the best Air to Air and Air to Ground platform in the game:thumbup:

For one Wiki is a terrible reference source and again these are flown by Iran... We stopped supporting them pretty much the moment they were delivered and many of their systems were sabotaged by Grumman before they left Iran ... Let's get back on topic:)
