This does seem more stable doing it this way. I do still crash at times when the mission has just about finished loading still though, but not as regular. Here's hope Wags can give use a quick fix if something as simple as changing this setting can improve the crashes. Maybe it narrows it down to what is causing it. Edit: Just want to say it also stopped judder for me at airports. Now I only have to turn off shadows. I'm also using windows 7 64. Thanks!

Okay, but what is this setting supposed to do?

[REPORTED]Mulitplayer Crash - Selecting not bought module
joebloggs replied to Coder's topic in Game Crash
Maybe the fact you didn't purchase it? :megalol: -
I think it's twice as good after I actually get in after the 10th time of crashing. Inside the cockpit is so much clearer. I have managed to get in the Ka-50 3 out of 20 attempts and it looks stunning inside this cockpit. Can't wait for it to be fixed to do a night mission. At the moment it's just to frustrating with the mission loading crash bug and having to keep restarting my PC. I can't see restarting my Pc so often is doing it anygood :joystick:

I would reinstall the whole beta then, I had some problems and that's what I had to do to get rid of them. I reinstalled the whole beta instead of just updating the old beta. You will have to re-install your modules aswell though. If you still have problems after doing this then at-least you know it's either your windows that is corrupted or you have a hardware problem. The game might not have installed correctly so you'll have to reinstall to find this out I'm afraid.

This guy from the ED team has already said there's a leak.

This is one of the main reasons new games crash. You need to keep your drivers upto date.

Same here, but I can't use a monitor anymore because I have a pit that has only controls and the Oculus Rift attached to it. So basically all the setup in the pic is going to waste until this gets fixed. I'm starting to wish I never set this up for the Oculus now. But I'll be well please if it gets fixed quickly.

Don't think the runaways are big enough. I would like to see a Lancaster Bomber though in DCS World War 2.

Thanks for the info, but I have windows 7 64 bit and I'm sticking with it for the time being. I would much prefer to wait for a fix rather then update to windows 10 and it's incompatibility with lots of stuff. Like you said updating to windows 10 basically ruins all you other Rift stuff like Elite Dangerous. I think this should be quite an easy fix for Wags and don't think it's got much to do with your OS. They must already be aware why it's crashing and I think having to upgrade to windows 10 would be a a bit to drastic. Lots of people prefer windows 7 while they wait for windows 10 to be fully fixed. Elite will be releasing Horizons soon and I don't want to miss that in the Rift. Last I heard they said they are not updating and are actually waiting for CV1 now in 2016 before they do anything with the Rift. They tell you to stick with 0.5.0.1 which is a bit of a joke considering they told people they were supporting the Rift. I took that to mean all the time when I bought Elite.

I was just wondering if anyone is using Skylakes i7 6700k and what FPS you are getting with it. This is what I want to upgrade to, but only if I don't see an increase in FPS from what I currently get. I currently use a i7 930 overclocked to 4.1 Ghz and I get 130 FPS, but I use Oculus Rift, so more FPS the better. So what FPS are you getting if you are using Skylake i7 6700 and do you have it overclocked? Thanks!

Where does it say the guys with windows 8 and 10 are having more success? I'm using windows 7 64 bit, but haven't come across a thread that says windows 8 and 10 is any better? Can you give me a link to the thread or wherever it is you see these results?

I have managed to to get the Rift working a few times on low settings, but it just crashes every time when trying high setting. Has it been locked at low setting when using the Rift because it doesn't need to be. I've tested to see what difference the setting make on my PC monitor and I have found only "Civvilian Traffic" and "Visible Range" make a difference to fps, so the Rift should be just as good with high settings. I'm getting 140 FPS with high settings.I just wish 0.7 had extended mode because I would not see any judder at airports if it did. I have tested this using 0.6.0.1 and there was no judder, just tracking issues. Trust Oculus to do away with extended mode because this would be perfect. I already upload my file in another thread, but just though I'd say about the high settings and crashing.

[REPORTED]Crash: setShader::DX11Renderer::RenderAPI
joebloggs replied to deadzone's topic in Game Crash
To all those having problems maybe a clean install of the 1.5 beta would help. You have to re-download your modules and setup your controls but this can fix some problems. I had a few problems I won't go into, but reinstalling the beta instead of updating it helped me with some. Obviously there are some bugs, but I'm just saying things like freezing and blank screens might be fixed with a re-install. -
Not been funny or anything, but whats so funny about that? I have just updated from 0.6.0.1 to 0.7 and these are my findings. The head tracking is off in 0.6.0.1, but I must say I there is no judder at airports when you use 0.6.0.1. I really wish extended mode was available in 0.7 because all games seem to struggle more with direct to Rift. Does anyone know why they struggle using Direct to Rift? Here is my crash report using 0.7. in the Rift. DK2 crash.rar

I told you you had it capped in the game somewhere as soon as you posted.
-
I select "Create Fast Mission" then "Advanced Mode," but I don't see any airports to select like I did before. Can someone tell me if this is normal now because before I used to be able to select an area. Thanks!
-
Yes, I think you are capping your FPS somewhere. Have you capped them in game or something? Are they capped in the non Beta DCS exe? I would reinstall the whole Beta if it continues, including the old Beta that you updated from. I had to do a full reinstall of the Beta including the old Beta because of a few problems.
-
Are you sure you have to update to 0.7? I have seen people using 0.6.0.1 in extended mode who are running it and have the same amount of crashes as the guys using 0.7.
-
How do you log it? I'll be glad to help if I can. Even on low it looks great in the Rift and I really want this to work.
-
I just want to say that from my understanding you can use 0.6.0.1, I've used it in extended mode and it worked now and then for me with low settings. Where does it say you have to use 0.7 for the Rift? Even people using 0.7 are crashing, so I don't think it's to do with the version you are running. I wouldn't recommend anything lower then 0.6.0.1 though. What do Wags say about what version to run to stop crashes?

I hope they fix the crashes with the Rift soon because a better Rift experience is what I was waiting for in 1.5 beta. This is whats happening when I crash. First of all I have to set every setting to low because I haven't managed to start a game when they are set to anything other then low. I crash all the time with higher settings, but I do randomly crash with low settings also. I crash when the mission starts to load and it is at this same point each time. When I do crash on low setting, I just exit the game and turn the Rift off and then back on. This stops me from having to boot the PC up. I really hope they fix the crashes soon and don't just wait until the rift is out next year. I was so looking forward to 1.5 and using the Rift, but it's not very enjoyable with all these crashes.
