No, that would work only when you are already in course and if the arrow is looking straight. but what if you are not in course? let s say the tacan or waypoint is 80 decrees off, and the course is 170 degrees. placing the arrow in front of you and chasing it will give you the shortest way to intercept the course but will not give you where the tacan/ waypoint is. Now, if you are still far away from the wpt/tacan, you want to first get closer before turning to intercept the course, having a marker would make sense. If this is not a bug and it is real implementation (and it could be) then one should enter the course only when intend to intercept it immediately.

This is problem does not only concern TACAN, if you select a way point, box it, and then enter a course, the marker on the HUD tape will disappear as well.

Hi, Attached a track. If you select Auto Waypoint, and have the next waypoint as WP2 for example. If then you scroll up to WP 3 before you fly over WP2, and then come back to WP2 (or any other waypoint), when you fly over WP2, the Auto waypoint will select WP4 (it increments based on the highest waypoint you happen to scroll through) and not WP3. Hi, I hope there is no need for a track for this! if you box TACAN you see the tick on the HUD tape normally. As soon as you enter a course for the TACAN the marker disappears. I hope you can look at this if it is a bug. I believe there is no need for a Track. Thanks!

placeholders from FC3 need a lot of development effort and are not quality guaranteed. Look at the IFF today. Maybe ED estimated that it is not worth the effort and that it is better to wait and have the final implementation.

As I said, only ED can decide on the priority of the development. And they know better what should come first and which milestones they should set. It could be that for LTWS, they need DataLink as pointed by someone. It could be that by doing A then B then C, they get the 3 more quickly than doing C then A then B.

yeah, that's true actually! Wags, mentionned that it is up to the ME editor to set it as a waypoint for the F18. I hope they can do it the way it is done on the A10 instead and not leave it to the mercy of the mission designer. They often dont set any flight plan at all on most MP servers.
