need help with translating from swedish to english
SnorreSelmer replied to Toertchen's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
When towing some aircraft, you DISCONNECT the nosewheel from the hydraulic actuator that turns the wheel under normal operation. If you forget this then one of two things will most likely happen: The cheap outcome, you break the tow-bar when you start turning. The not-so-cheap outcome is that you destroy the actuator. I suspect this warning is to alert you that the ground crew has forgot to re-connect the nosewheel strut to the actuator. How did I come to this conclusion? I've done this operation a "few" times on the F-16... -
DCS cameras, views and video recording

I did the numbers on the RAW AVI in 1080p60, and that alone was 200-250MB/sec. You need an SSD, a fast RAID or 10Gb LAN to pass data that fast. Then, I found that MPC-HC outperforms VLC in most instances. You can also recompress the RAW AVI with the Lagarith lossless codec. Reduces filesize quite a bit, but VLC doesn't doesn't like Lagarith. That's normal. Once speed is below a certain point for a certain time, the CDU dumps data into storage. I'm sure Bunyap covers this in one of his videos. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

The Mi-8 can load fuel tanks in its cargo compartment. The main fuel tanks are already on the outside (the left and right tanks are the "logs" on the side of the fuselage). Also, there is no way to route fuel from the pylons. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Autopilot and Cargo operator in Russian
SnorreSelmer replied to ebabil's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Unless you're slingloading, you don't need to know what he says (he's just letting you know which channel he's adjusting). If you're doing slingloading, use the sling radar. ;) Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
Autopilot and Cargo operator in Russian
SnorreSelmer replied to ebabil's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
That is the Autopilot ADJUST, not ENGAGE. It does as follows: When you're out flying and use the trimmer, at some point you are very likely to max out one or more trim channels (pitch, roll, yaw). The ADJUST command tells the Crew Chief (the guy in the middle seat) to adjust the dials for each channel to "zero" the channels again so you can continue to trim. If you go into the SETTINGS > SPECIAL > Mi-8 menu and check the "Autopilot Adjust", this is done automatically/continuously. Put down a US Mi-8 and the Crew Chief will be speaking english. -
Difference between rectifiers and inverters...

Red dot on front Window?

Not sure what it's for, but I use it as a guide while taxiing (from the pilot commander's seat). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
Easy Communications - Explained ???
SnorreSelmer replied to rickberry49's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
The specifics depend on which aircraft you fly, but ground crew is usually only reachable via intercom. Most fixed wing need to shut down to rearm (and should request ground power before doing so), but the A-10C and the helicopters can rearm and refuel while everything is running. - The A-10C needs to switch the radio selector dial (right side, almost all the way back) to INT or open the canopy. - The Mi-8 needs to make sure the radio selector switch on the radio panel is set to ICS and not to RADIO. - The other helicopters just need to activate the intercom. If you set the ECLs to T/O POWER and then reduce them to AUTO again, you need to cycle the Corrector out of AUTO and back again. If you don't, then you will gradually lose engine power. Also, icing isn't always auto-detected, so if you see turbine RPM fluctuate, manually engage engine de-icing and see if that improves engine power output. I've had this happen before, outside Tbilisi, at 500m/1500' MSL, in conditions where I didn't expect icing at all (temps around +4C, no flying through clouds etc). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I read the forums using Tapatalk, so I don't see signatures. ;) I'll go on my computer and look at this.

To turn off the gun-sight as part of a "fence out" procedure, turn off the third fuse from the right on the top row of armament fuses. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Ooh, that's interesting! I know Caucasus isn't really accurate either, but it's better than the vanilla NTTR. :) URL for the mod? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

DCS VR... Is it worth it?

Works just fine, as long as your glasses fit inside the set. I have fairly wide glasses, and mine fit juuust. Good thing you can get add-on lenses that can let you use the HMD without glasses. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
DCS VR... Is it worth it?

Been flying the Mi-8 for two weeks in my new Rift, an it has "ruined" flying with a monitor and TrackIR. For flying in the A-10C it's nice, but it's amazing for helicopters. Don't expect miracles, but my personal opinion is that it's worth it! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
DCS: Mi-8MTV2 game vids
SnorreSelmer replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
A bit of shameless advertising for our vWing, but here's the view from my cockpit during an Air Assault training mission we had a couple of months ago. My flying wasn't the best this evening, but reviewing and editing this video helped me make some major improvements. :) Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
NTTR in any NATO helicopter: Sand, hills, and radio beacons. NTTR in an Mi-8 (and the Ka-50 too if we ignore the ABRIS): Sand, sand, and, more sand, a hill, yet more sand, sand of a different color, another hill, and a whopping ONE radio beacon to navigate by... Caucasus is SO much more interesting to fly in ( with the Mi-8 ) if you treat DCS as a simulator, and not as a game. I can live with the low terrain resolution for another couple of months.

Which mission would this be?

[Video] 132nd Virtual Wing - Air Assault Training
SnorreSelmer replied to NECK's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Thanks for the kind words, I personally feel my flying was mediocre (the video was filmed by me), but guess I'm extra critical since it's me. ;) -
Thanks for the help everyone. I've tried to reproduce this in 1.5 (for a good 10 starts), couldn't do it this time. Looked at the bindings, no double bindings. Went to 2.0, instant repeat. Looked at the keybinds, Mi-8 Sim bindings looked good but the General Axis Assign was the usual "everything everywhere", so I unbound everything and bound the correct axis for each control. That seems to have fixed this, so sorry for wasting your time. :(
