  1. @mwd2, thank you very much for verifying that I'm not completely crazy regarding unknown, sneaky, nasty insurgents launching sh?t at me. I dug in a little deeper to the mission after your response and found the various units and flags; now I understand...kinda :) This is brilliant! I'm still flying SINGLE missions trying to learn one particular aspect of the systems at a time as I go; not quite up to speed to create such complex missions yet with all the triggers and things but this just shows what an incredible insight the development team and other folks, including the end user community, have in creating such a sim. Now, if you or anyone else can tell me what procedure there is for my 2nd question I'd really appreciate that. To summarize; while landing a wounded hog I have a landing gear failure and, although I get it safely stopped without further serious damage, I have left the hard surface of the tarmac and slid into the grass. Saying 'without further damage' I mean that for the most part the aircraft is structurally sound; all wings and surfaces intact....perhaps some bullet or frag holes. Is there any procedure that will get me back to the parking area for repairs? What I have tried (sometimes works) is to call for repairs, then call for rearm/refuel. In the rearm/refuel I dump all external stores and excess fuel. Then after repair I try powering through the grass to a hard surface and return to a parking area where I do a repair, rearm/refuel all over again. Is that the norm or is there another method? It seems a 50/50 deal. I want to get back to the fight and hate having to EXIT and start over again :( Comments, suggestions, directions....even a clue would be appreciated.
  2. @Pinefang........once you get it all set up youy will probably find your SnapViews are horribly off and sometimes worthless. The viewing angle and dimensions get seriously cropped in 2560 x 1080. But not to worry... Check out this thread from a couple weeks ago. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=174744 I started it after I bought my LG 34" Ultra Widescreen and several folks were right on track to help me sort that out. Read the instructions on creating new SnapViews, I think you'll find it very rewarding as you get to really dial in what YOU want to see. Regarding the 'immersion and game play', you get a wider perspective (obviously) which is great for the immersion but the screen height is more limiting. I'm still loving it! Panning left to right is pretty cool as long as you have a suitable graphics card. My new MSI GeForceGTX 1070 was an awesome upgrade. On the subject of TIR, you'll probably want to spend a little time dialing in some new settings for your default view (seat position), and you Pitch and Yaw angles and speed. I slowed down the rotational speed on the Yaw due the screen width and increased it on the Pitch. Once I got that dialed in it has made flying a whole new adventure. I'd be interested in hearing more on these topics once you get yours set up. Regards,
  3. I've been working through a Single Player mission downloaded from DCS - User Files and keep finding something strange...to me at least. The mission is "Arty Hunt - Tigerrrr - 16-08-2011" Without commenting on the overall mission itself (other than to say I'm enjoying it), I'm trying to figure out whether this is possible-plausible; I keep getting hit by ground troops with an Igla MANPAD but they don't exist on the map in Mission Editor. It's always very close (+/-100 meters) to a group of tanks which are visible in the ME but I can't find him from the air or on the Mission Editor map. Is that possible? Keep in mind I'm talking about the Mission Editor, not the Mission Planner ------------- 2 other unrelated questions regarding missions: #1 - When building or modifying a mission can I designate an airfield as friendly 'Blue' but only supply it with fuel...not for rearming or repair? I just want to land to buy a can of gas and then limp back to my home base. #2 - I land with a damaged gear/tires assemblies, nose-plowed and run off the runway burying it in the grassland. Engines and everything else fine so I did a very fast shutdown. Is there a way to call for repairs and be magically fixed and put back on the tarmac in the parking area to do a startup, rearm/refuel or am I finished? Sometimes I can power through the grass and soft ground but at other times my sweet Hog ain't going anywhere. Appreciate any comments or suggestions
  4. I recently bought a new 34" LC UltraWide and love the experience. Mine is NOT the curved screen but it does give a different feeling as compared to my old 27" (1920x1080). I did find it took a little getting used to but that all changed when I added an MSI GeForce GTX 1070 card....whoa..no stuttering, great framerate and that pesky little problem of using the TPG (L MFCD) and Maverick (R MFCD) simultaneously is gone! But I now wonder whether the TrackIR location on my monitor could be improved to respond better in the pitch direction. Has anybody dialed this in for these UltraWide screens and care to comment. I'm thinking about raising the TrackIR sensor up a couple inches above the screen. Comments?
  5. I was hoping someone here could help me sort out my little audio problem/desire, I've tried before to solve this and I'm not even sure where to start. It doesn't seem that difficult or complex ..... except to me :( This is NOT a DCS issue; merely a request for you folks that have more experience in building and dialing in your own systems for the shear pleasure of better sound. What I simply want to be able to do is drive the sound through the HDMI cable to the LCD Display (using it's build-in speakers) while simultaneously driving it out through the MOBO audio ports to an amplifier and/or speaker/mic headset. Currently if I connect the speaker/mic headset (dual plus) to the Line Out port on the MOBO I get sound through the headset but all sound to the HDMI is silenced. One reason is to be able to take off the headset during refuel/rearm/repairs but still enjoy the 'environment' while I fetch a refreshing beverage and stretch my legs :) I want to be able to use the Volume, Balance, Bass & Treble of the mini amplifier to provide a better sound quality for the various sources and still enjoy the 'in your face' sound from the monitor's speakers. Ultimately I would like to be able to control the volume of all the various output devices even if that means I need some additional minor hardware adapter(s) .....but that for later if need be. I have the following if this helps: Asus B85-Pro Gamer MOBO 32G RAM LG 34UM68 21:9 UltraWide® Full HD IPS LED Monitor MSI GeForceGTX 1070 Video Card (this is badass!!) Windows 10 64bit Pro O/S I appreciate any help you folks can provide. I really don't understand all this audio stuff but willing to listen and learn.
  6. @fitness88 - appreciate your help here but....hehehehe...screwed things up even worse before I re-read your instruction and did a little Wiki research to understand what you were saying (correctly). Then I deleted the SnapView.lua and started from scrtch. In 'Customising a SnapView' as you wrote, the real important part seems to be Step#2 and understanding that it doesn't just view the current SnapView setting for that key but it holds that key as a maker for Step#3. After several attempts I've got even more effective, efficient SnapViews set up. Thanks very much!!! On the other significant issue of the monitor itself, if anyone has one of these ultra-wide screens I'd really appreciate any info on the Settings-System-Graphics settings to take full advantage of it. This model [LG-UM68] isn't the curved one but it is immersive. The attachments will give you a better idea of what the original problem was with a new ultra-wide screen monitor and accessing the CDU. #1 - original default SnapView#3 for 1920 x 1080 ...that works #2 - same SnapView#3 on a 2560 x 1080 ...that ain't gonna cut it #3 - new SnapView#3 on a 2560 x 1080 ...ah..that's even better Thanks to all for your input.
  7. Guys, I may be wrong but I don't think head position or TrackIR have anything to do with this issue. It has to do with the SnapView and how they are generated. I can look down with TrackIR and see/access the CDU or anywhere else in the cockpit without a problem. The problem is that when I want to SnapView (toggle on) and make an entry on the CDU I can only see the bottom half of the 'normal' (1920x1080) view. I can't see/read the top half of the CDU display. So I could not create a Flight Plan or do anything that requires seeing the top. My other SnapViews are equally zoomed so I can't see/access some of the buttons on the MFCDs. It seems I need to create more customized SnapViews if that is possible. @Schwarzfeld...is your 34" an 'ultra-widescreen' or just widescreen? If it is what are your settings for resolution and the others I mentioned above? Cheers & Thanks,
  8. I was using a 28" 'normal' monitor running 1920 x 1080 and all appeared just fine, life was good. I just bought a LG 32" Ultra Widescreen and set DCS at 2560 x 1080 and although all appears fine for the most part, the SnapViews are useless. They appear way too zoomed and the Num9 (CDU) is almost useless, I can barely access the bottom 2 LSKs and view only about 25% of the bottom of CDU Display Window itself. Can anyone tell me how I can resize, reset, rebuild, or customize my SnapViews so they are 'normal' and usable? Can anyone that has one of these ultra-wide monitors tell me what the proper settings in general would be? I'm especially talking about the Settings-System-Graphics with respect to Resolution, Aspect Ratio, and other fields there. So far I'm not too impressed with using the ultra-wide for my flying because of this and what it may be doing to my video card....what a thrashing it must be taking! I'm about to drop an MSI GTX 1070 x 8G in my machine and anticipate a significantly better experience in general but still need to solve the SnapViews. Any other tips for ultra-wide screen use would be much appreciated. If it matters; system includes a Asus B85 Pro Gamer, 32G RAM, Win10Pro64, TM HOTAS, MFCDs, Orbweaver, TrackIR, blah, blah, blah. Really appreciate any help you folks can give me; my flying sucks but I do love it. October holiday in China starts next week and I got a week of flyin, bombin, crashin, ahead of me....life is good!
  9. What weapon was that?
  10. Seriously folks, can these be destroyed?
  11. @Remarkymarkable, A difference in what, gravity is gravity. Everything falls at the same accelerating rate (9.8 m/s ^2 or 32 ft per second-per second). An 8 lb bowling ball falls at the same rate as a 2,000 lb GBU-10. But the available Force when they hit your after falling 6,000 ft is slightly different. You wouldn't even need the boom :)
  12. @dux As I said above I just bought the BFT from ED Store yesterday. I've only gone thru the first exercise and already see the benefits; it's well worth the measely 10 bucks! I'd suggest you go through the BFT before buying the Advanced Aircraft Training so you get the tone and methodology; it's not a tutorial. @Sabre-TLA My only comment about the first exercise is the shutdown time limit of 2 minutes; needs to be increased to 2.5 or even 3. There should be no reason to rush a proper shutdown. You give me 15 minutes to do the cold start; which only takes about 6 minutes, then rush to shut down. In reality, I just landed and want to catch my breath and clear my mind; not start mentally rehearsing a rushed shutdown. if you could possibly tell us how to extend that to 3 minutes it would be great. Look forward to more, thanks Regards,
  13. @AstroEma... There's a great YouTube video by ExcessiveHeadspace that goes thru the process of dropping 3 GBU-38's on 3 targets in a single pass. I tried it and it is an awesome trick to learn. He explains it quite well, including using a separate Flight Plan. After a couple of attempts and more fully understanding the method I was killing clusters of tanks and BMPs with 2 GBU-31 dropped withing 2-3 seconds of each other. Devastating, but beautiful :) Two important points you need to take away from this video is Altitude & TGP Standby Mode. 'We don't need no stinkin' laser' [ame] [/ame] Enjoy
  14. I just bought this and now am confused as to where all the documentation is. Anybody clue me in?
  15. Xie xie, Gracias, Спасибо, Merci, Danke, Cheers, Thanks..... Now time to dial those axis even better
  16. Can someone tell me, or direct me to exactly what I need to copy from 1.5 to 2.0 NTTR to retain my input hardware settings-bindings. Just finished install but somehow lost several bindings like my wheelbrakes and gear down/up. Also lost everything for my Orbweaver. Hardware includes: TM Hotas Stick & Throttle Razer Orbweaver MFD Cougars Mad Catz Pro Flight Cessna Rudder Pedals Appreciate the help :)
  17. 2nd install? Huh....can someone point me to how/where we set that up? Very interested in purchasing NTTR but worried about this same issue; I still want to fly Cauc. Instructions for 2nd setup ?
  18. @ Buzzles....can you please explain where we can do that. I'm alittle confused as to what parameters of the plane we can change in the ME. As example, if I create a 'Lead' aircraft as well as my aircraft, can I set up parms like lighting on the Lead plane so I can build a evening/night flight?
  19. So in effect this target is not a target to waste warheads on....just destroy and kill everything else around it?
  20. This is some serious sh?t here with this Ammo Depot. I just dropped 8 GBU -10's on top of it, all within 2-3 meters. Then another 2 AGM-65K's What's the trick here; does the GBU-10 have a delayed fuse setting I haven't figured out?
  21. Is a 'Russian - Warehouses - Ammunition Depot' nuclear hardened? I set 2 up in a mission and could NOT even scratch the paint. Dropped 2 GBU-31's, 2 GBU-10's, then tried knockin' in the front door with a 300lb Maverick AGM-65K! Don't think it even interrupted their card game!! Somebody give me just a clue? Tanks, Tanks Very much
  22. @ Bearfoot...did you ever get this sorted out so Lead flies at a more reasonable airspeed? +/- 170 kts is just too hard to stick with; too unstable. Please advise
  23. On the other side of the coin, is there any serious concern for NOT turning off the Pitot Heat after landing for a refuel/reload/repair when you're on the ground for 30 minutes or so....especially in an environment like Nevada? Just curious
  24. Whoa.......certainly makes you appreciate a 2-dimensional world :) Damn, this is harder than I thought. Let me first say that I'm new to this formation stuff; still in the 'me against the world' single player mode. Have yet successfully 'hooked up' with a Tanker but see this as an incredible opportunity to finally get there. However, I've got several issues, comments or suggestions right off the bat. Keep in mind I'm flying the A-10C, not a Cessena or fighter. When it starts out... 1)The 'Lead' is flying at about 170kts with brakes extended which makes it pretty difficult to maintain flight stability from the beginning. To stay in any semblance of a formation I needed flaps which even made it harder....for me. I tried editing the mission file to have Lead flying at 240 kts but that didn't work...not sure what I was really doing ...or did wrong. If you can tell me how to get the Lead up to a reasonable cruising speed I would love to try again. 2) When I finally (temporarily) got into 'slot' and was told to stay there, I didn't have a good view of the Lead from a comfortable position in the cockpit...it was block by the canopy frame. As I tried to locate him the TrackIR put my vision and position all over the cockpit; I might need to dial that in a little before I throw up  Perhaps a screenshot of the ideal 'slot' position would help the novice get a better idea of where he/she is supposed to be. All in all, I find this exercise to be very valuable and worth a ride around track many times because it would prove effective in maintaining various aspect of stable flight control in the 3 dimensional world. If I can get into and hold that 'slot' position I could get closer to mastering the refueling task. Finally...your reference material was not completely loading; not sure what was wrong there but I would like to review all that. Please advise on how to get the 'Lead up to speed' and thanks very much for this contribution :thumbup:
  25. I can't be sure for all missions but I think you don't have the necessary refuel/rearm capability at NEUTRAL fields. Someone else could qualify that. Had too many flights end in the need to find an alternate landing field in the middle of a mission. I land and find out I'm out of luck for repairs, fuel, etc. So I just got into the habit of changing some of the field 'ownership' and adding just 1 tanker. Like to hear someone else comment on this.
