  1. Guys, I'm confused over this; I have A10-c running DCS World 1.5.2.......what do I need to buy to fly the NTTR map? Tanks:)
  2. More Efficient targeting with TAD A couple questions on more effective/efficient targeting using TAD. Can you 'de-cluttter' the TAD to eliminate 'old' markpoints or target symbols? Can you delete or otherwise remove markpoints from TAD and/or CDU? It seems to get pretty confusing when you have 3-4 points from JTAC in the same vicinity and you're trying to Hook the right one. Can you place (drop) a markpoint on the ground below a turnpoint to make slewing for targets faster? When heading to a target rich environment below a turnpoint (Ex: Elevation: 3,500) I find it slow to slew to the ground in search of a target not already marked. Thanks
  3. Here I thought it was just me but the GAU isn't scratching the tanks. I've can't claim any issue with other weapons but 5 runs on 1 tank and he just laughed and eat a sandwich. On the 5th run he took out half my hog. Something seems weird here
  4. Not hijacking but it's a related question/inquiry...the manual mentions wingtip spotlights point toward front fuselage...can't figure how to turn on. Also, would they illuminate the ground any better than just nosewheel spot?
  5. Not so fast here....let's review, ABS works by keeping the tire rotating to maintain traction between the 2 surfaces; tire rubber and roadway surface. Once that rotation is lost and the wheel locks up an appreciable amount of braking is lost along with, more importantly, directional stability of the vehicle. In an aircraft it can be complicated further because of the amount of weight sitting on a very small footprint of the skidding tires. The tire can quickly heat up and explode...that would be very bad for 20+ tons of A-10 sitting on 3 tires. ABS works by monitoring and 'pumping' the braking system to avoid that loss of wheel rotation, much like us older drivers learned before the introduction of ABS. An ABS does this in a cycle much faster than humanly possible as it measures the rotation changes of 3-4 tires in milleseconds. In gravel, sand and snow, ABS tends to INCREASE braking distances. On these surfaces, locked wheels dig in and stop the vehicle more quickly. ABS prevents this from occurring. So it would be quite logical for a pilot to turn ABS off when landing on an unfinished dirt-gravel runway or one with heavy snow. I'd be interested to hear from one of the experienced 'real' driver on this.
  6. @ baltic_dragon, I believe it was one of 'Threshor's_Missions'; a day range predator JTAC. It was a basic training mission and the last time I flew it I sat checked out my ride, depressed the brake and whack the throttle. When I got to the correct waypoint I called for JTAC and he responded. Did that again just now and he responded after several calls, then it took 2-3 attempts for a 9 Line, More Info and a DataLink message. Are they that busy :)? I'm sure this miossion is several years old but it worked perfectly before. I would be very happy if you recommend one that isn't too involved and complicated as I'm relatively new to this and getting my feet wet again. Thanks for the response.
  7. Can't get JTAC to respond In the latest version I'm having no luck getting JTAC to respond in some of these missions where it work a year ago. Is there something about the radio freqs that has changed....it's telling me to use 30FM in the mission.
  8. Interesting, I've never consciously selected GameMode, I'll check that out. What made me think it was some type of corruption was my flight controls were screwed up; it looked like I had my stick pushed full left on takeoff, the ailerons were completely whacked out. I had no rudder or front wheel control. Again, I'll check that out and thanks for the tip.
  9. Harzach, thanks...forgot all about that, I thought it was a pain in the aft to be required to use their server to do all my setup and backup but it should payoff this time. That's the one thing I haven't installed yet. Thanks again
  10. Thanks folks, got almost everything up and running successfully. Just need to grab the old TrackIR5 file since that was one that was really dialed in. Also need to find the Razer Orbweaver configuration since I had virtually eliminated any keyboard use by using that mini keyboard. I'll get some hours in before I get the NTTR but that should be really nice since I'm in China now and completely unfamiliar with the Caucasus region. One other issue I'm confused about....every time I fly a mission it starts as a external chase view with my MFDs superimposed on the top corners of my screen. I can't get out of that view no matter what keys I press. I can't even change the MFD views Any assistance, always appreciated
  11. I had a total system crash and have now rebuilt my whole system with new components. I have the old HD now running as a secondary drive as I replaced it as a bootdrv with a 480SSD, still running Win7 64bit. I installed DCS World version 1.5.2.48726; is that the latest? What do I need to do to use the new Nevada Test Range; that's home to me? I've reinstalled all the following hardware and would like to maintain their previous config settings; it was all finally dialed in. Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS Thrustmaster MFDs Saitek Pro Cessena Pedals Tracker IR5 Razer Orbweaver Can someone tell me where I might find all these config/profiles? They were all installed/configured in default locations and I can access the old drive with no problems. Hope to be airborne soon. Appreciate any help :)
  12. @ PUMA... Have you tried JTAC Live Range (from the DCS > User Files > dSBv_JTAC_Live_Range.miz) by Speedbrake? This is a great training mission for noobs after learning the basics of flying and various weapon systems. BUT you must read the manual (several times) to better understand radios, JTAK and basic CDU operation. Also check out several YouTubes regarding JTAK...then it all starts to makes sense. I was like you said, needed to "add a little purpose to my flights"...and the COMMS part really helped there. I have a lot more confidence now after going through this several times. Now I'll try the other Speedbrake missions and more on towards the others mention above. I tried LIVE FIRE from StrongHarm but it was way too 'busy' for me; over the top for me at my current level. I do look forward to it soon. Stay safe...
  13. I'm thinking about what you guys are suggesting...but I'm not sure what I'm missing here. I don't see any native keystrokes or bindings for the MFCDs as there are for so many other buttons in the cockpit and the entire environment, so I figured I had to 'create' those keystrokes myself. Ex: I don't know whether there is a keystroke that specifically actuates the Left MFCD OSB16. I could do as suggested and "Just need to tell the Orbweaver to behave like a "Joystick" with 24 buttons." ....but how would I "use standard MODIFIER keys in DCS control panel to manage left or right MFCD"?? Also, the Orbweaver has 20 keys arranged 5x4 but the MFCDs are arranged 5 on each four sides so it's not a natural selection like the Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs that mirror the cockpit MFCDs. In any case I have the top and bottom MFCDs working fine with the Orbweaver; those were the buttons I usually need to get to quicker in flight. I may have to invest in the Cougar Paks and reprogram the Orbweaver for other functions like Comms or more mundane tasks around the cockpit. Oh...so much to learn
  14. I've got it working but only for limited commands. Profile 1 - works for the normal Function Views (1-12) and for Radio Comms after TM Throttle Hat switch Profile 2 - I've got a couple of keys working on the Left MFCD as a test. I tried to figure out obscure keyboard combos that would never be programmed normally unless you had 3 hands or very long fingers like: Right MFCD OSB#1 >> "LCtrl - RShift - Num1" Right MFCD OSB#2 >> "LCtrl - RShift - Num2" I'm foreseeing some problems when I get to OSB11 and onwards. I'm wondering whether I could use macros to do that. Any ideas ??? Then I need to find another set of weird keyboard combos for the Right MFCD. I also wondering whether I could use a HTML editor and do most of this manually on the Keyboard.html or is that just a reference generated by the program and not the actual configuration. I'll avoid this until I hear back from someone...don't want to put the entire program into a tailspin :)
  15. Guys, I'm brand new to this sim; got it as a gift from my 'mule' after he saw it on YouTube I've already spent 20 x the cost of the sim for all the input devices plus he just brought me a Razer BlackShark Headset. The boyz at the bar think I've really gone off the deep end....but hey, they just don't get it...right? Maybe one of you more experienced members can start another thread for an Orbweaver so we don't highjack this one too much....your thoughts?
  16. Yes, it does show up in a column as a separate device along with Keyboard, TH HOTAS Joystick, TH HOTUS Throttle, TrackerIR and Saitek Pedals. It would certainly be easier to get the Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs but: a) I'm in Shanghai and it's hard to find any of this stuff b) I'm in Shanghai and it cost me 1.5 x normal c) My 'mule' that brings me this stuff might get tired of explain to Chinese Customs what all this shit is :) d) Love the challenge...
  17. Yes, cichlidfan....would that mean I need to tell both what to do? Example; could I tell Orbweaver that this particular key = 'AAAA' and then tell the DCS options setup that the recognized device 'Orbweaver' has control over OSB#1 with 'AAAA'?
  18. Yes, XtraChrisP...I'm trying to eliminate the full keyboard , and as much mouse activity as possible. My eyes are sh#t so focusing on the monitor and then down on the keyboard is time consuming and frustrating. Think Grandpa Simpson :) The Orbweaver sits flap up against my HOTAS Warthog Throttle so it's a mere glance and I'm accustomed to where all the keys are. It's a working in progress...
  19. Looks like I'm going to have to wrap my head around this, another project for the weekend.
  20. @ shagrat & tommytank... whoa...just read my own last entry and realized the martinis were surely being served onboard that flight:) The Razer Orbweaver (USB mini keyboard) allows me to implement simple keyboard entries as well as more complex macros to achieve various keyboard tasks. So I assigned various simple keyboard tasks associated with Comms; all the basic F functions so far successfully. No need to reach for the keyboard now for Comms. I would like to see if there are keyboard commands (combinations) that directly address the MCFDs so I can further eliminate the use of my mouse. As I tried to say, (inebriatedly..if that's a word), the Orbweaver has 20 buttons x 8 KeyMaps (layers) so I've used Keymap#1 for Comms and wanted to try using KeyMap#2 for Left MCFD and #3 for Right MCFD, etc. Then I just cycle through the Orbweaver to the KeyMaps for the various MCFDs. I looked at the 'Controls configuration manual' that shagrat kindly provided and I'm still pondering over how I can do this whole thing. I'm a little new to this simulator and the Orbweaver but hopefully can avoid the regular keyboard & mouse as much as possible. I'll try again without the martinis this time but any help, thoughts, suggestions would be appreciated :)
  21. Has anyone tried to use a Razer Orbweaver as a means to control the OSBbuttons. My Orbweaver has 20 keys layered on 8 KeyMaps; thta's a lot of extra keystroks that reduce mounsclick. I've already eliminated the need for reahing for the F-Key for Radio interaction which I want to map to the OSBs but I dont know whether those OBs have a native default assignment from the keyboard. This would further reduce going to the mouse to reach them. Any thoughts on this..any ideas, or experience with this keyboard in DCS A-10C Just another input devise that is easier to work with without a keyboard. Please advise...appreciate the help.
  22. Updating from 1.1.0.9 At shagrat & JayPee....thanks for the help getting updated. Already had installed DCS World but that needed an update as well. All went relatively smooth and I was up in the clouds in a couple hours. Only issue was the previous setting I had for all the hardware devices; TM HOTAS Stick & Throttle, Saitek rudders, TrackIR5 & a Razer Orbweaver. Had to remove a ton of settings that conflicted. All said it was immediately worth the trepidation of any big update. Did not remove the previoius version of DCS A10C....all seems good, is it just a waste of space or will I encounter problems?? Quick question; are there keyboard inputs/assignments available for the MCFD OSBs that I could assign to one of the profiles on an Orbweaver? I'd like to eliminate as much mouse selection as reasonable. Thanks again
  23. Can someone please direct me to info on updating my DCS A-10c program; I just bought it new last month from Amazon and it's version 1.1.0.9. And do I need anything else to play in DCS World? Appreciate some help,
