Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Madman777 replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The next aircraft will be a Hornet. If ED doesn't jump in a post within the next half hour and say it's not...then we know it's a Hornet! Countdown starting now.... -
Sandy bridge doesn't seem to like RAM @ 1.65v. I had it , and I had some issues with it. Changed to 1.5v RAM and works perfect. I run my SB on P8P67 Pro. So it could be an Asus thing...not sure.

So far you're the winner. Gratz.
-
I have TrackIR. Even with 3 monitors you still need TrackIR.
-
Hmm, let me see. Since A-10C came out I've purchased the following for it; i7-2600k - $330 Asus P8P67 Pro - $180 Hyper 212+ - $30 16GB RAM - $185 GTX 460 1GB - $200 27" Asus Monitor - $320 Intel 40GB SSD - $120 (sold) OCZ 60GB SSD - $119 TOTAL - $1484.00. I'm not done yet either. Plan on doing multi-monitor soon. So will need new video card and two more monitors. Probably another $800.00. Well worth it.

Wow - that picture looks amazing!!! OMG! Once I fly in that I wont be able to go back to Georgia...haha

Change the mission loadout. I almost always change it to something I want. They are all unrealistic anyways.

If the virtual pilot had the option to put on sun glasses, then I would use it more. @ wish list - In-game sun glasses. :-)

Newbie! can't get a hawg to fly level!
Madman777 replied to medievaltw's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
If your not using a force feedback joystick, remember to check the options and uncheck 'force feedback enabled" I missed that and flew with it on for a couple of months and couldn't keep her still for more then a second or two. -
All I know is that Nevada will be amazing! I loved it in Beta and it probably wasn't even 50% completed. Flying the A-10C over the desert just feels right. :pilotfly:

A-10C's in Libya - Combat Aircraft Mag article
Madman777 replied to Madman777's topic in Military and Aviation
According to the A-10 pilots a Mirage went down. I've seen photo's but I can't confirm myself. The French deny it. Very strange indeed. -
First On-Line Air 2 Air Kill!!! Wu-huuuuu...
Madman777 replied to Aries's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Awesome. That must have been quite a thrill. I'm still a noob when it comes to air to air. No kills yet. :-( -
Good one! :megalol:

CONFIRMED: Next aircraft will be a fixed wing US FIGHTER!
Madman777 replied to kingneptune117's topic in Chit-Chat
Well, like ED has said already, it's the military contracts that drive the DCS modules. So I guess we need to be looking at countries with whom are upgrading, or buying, or wanting to train in a US fixed wing fighter simulator? My guess is an F-18C, but I can't think of any other military that would need a simulator for it. Edit - Australia is buying or bought some super Hornets lately, maybe they are in need of top notch simulator. :-) -
Yeah, think he flew in a 747 or something like that. I agree that DCS, at high altitudes does represent the feel or look of flight. For inexperienced people, I can see what they mean. Even in a real airplane in high altitudes it seems like it's not moving very much.

I had a friend watch me fly for the first time last week. I was at about 12000 feet. As he watched me fly, he asked me if the sim was paused because "nothing is moving." He said the sense of speed is really bad. Now he's not into sims, so I can understand where he's coming from. He's not used to it...haha. The sense of speed down low is really good, unfortunately, we don't' fly that low very often, so it's kind irrelevant...in my opinion.

A-10C's in Libya - Combat Aircraft Mag article
Madman777 replied to Madman777's topic in Military and Aviation
I notice the difference in weight big time. Lately I've been carrying only one maverick under each wing to make thing more realistic. And only using them for AA threats. The tanks have been getting an easy ride in 1.1.0.9. Because the CBU-97 doesn't work. Since CBU-97 doesn't work, I've been going old school and using Mk-82's. GBU-12's are good as well. In multiplayer smaller payloads are okay because you can count on your wingman. In singleplayer, it's a bigger issue because your wingman can be retarded and you need the extra punch sometimes. -
A-10C's in Libya - Combat Aircraft Mag article

tflash - Sorry I missed your post. I love the fact that the gun is being used 99% of the time. Goes to show that even with all those fancy weapons, the gun is still the king. -
Amazing article about the 74th Expeditionary 'Flying Tigers' in Combat Aircraft magazine!! Without ruining the 4page article here is a couple of quotes from Hog pilots... Regarding the use of weapons in Libya "...if we carry two GBU-12's we will, by nature of the weapons pylons, only carry one GPS-guided bomb. The gun is used 99% of the time." Regarding the CSAR the A-10C were tasked to do after French Mirage went down in Libya "...securing the area wasn't a problem as I think the people in the towns had got the message that they really shouldn't mess with them. The aircrew were only 100m from the wreckage as they had baled out at 200ft and 170kts." I think it's amazing that the A-10C is not only involved in every war going on right now, but is kicking ass in them as well. How lucky we are to have an A-10C simulator come out as well....sim heaven.

Turning out to be the best $60 I EVER spent. :-)

I just open the canopy and scream at the top of my lungs "MAYDAY." :-)

The ground units your assigned to protect also show up as 'x' on your TAD. The 'x's will move real time. If you need to get an quick update on where they are, you can hook them in your TAD and slew TGP to get an idea of their current situation. That might not help to save them, but gives you more situational awareness. I normally call in SEAD asap. They need time to find and destroy AAA and SAMS. I only use the CAS if my wingman dies and I still have lots of targets left or my flight has used all ammunition and there are still targets left. I call in CAP once I'm over or near target area.

I've been dealing with this a lot since I have been recording many long campaign missions using fraps (after mission completion.) I can tell you from experience with both sims that A-10C has improved over KA-50 at recording accurate tracks. In KA-50 tracks, it was 50/50 shot at getting a good recording. With A-10C tracks, it's more like 75-80% success at recording. So while not perfect, it's getting better, from my experience at least. One day, if multi-threading becomes reality, we might see this kind of task handed over to another thread? That would be cool.

Having Difficulties Installing Patch 1.1.0.9
Madman777 replied to TonyP's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I had this problem before with 1.1.0.8. It would ask me for the disc before installing. I had all the install files loosely on my desktop. How I fixed this was putting the install files into a separate folder on my main HD.
