I liked the picture of the drinking cup used on the TrackIR to shield it from external light. Now I use a toilet paper roll as a shield on mine... :megalol: Looks like it was a great event. Thanks for taking the time to write about it Joe Kurr! S!

Warthog throttle back and firmware 20
Toadster replied to Blackrat_UK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Reporting in: Throttle returned and it is the original SN that I sent out (phew). Firmware 20 for me. Is it possible that " formerly bricked and now repaired" require FW 20, while Throttle with no issue only require FW 18? -
Happy to say the I got the exact same repaired Throttle back, so still SN: # 01856 for me!

Warthog throttle back and firmware 20
Toadster replied to Blackrat_UK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm sending my Throttle back for repair / replacement this week as requested by TM. I asked them to take care of the shipping, and they will reimburse my shipping cost when I supply them with the proof of the waybill. They won't cover overnight express of course, but at least they will pay for shipping. All I did was ask them in my e-mail correspondence. -
Problem with Warthog Throttle
Toadster replied to Jg2001_Rasputin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
TM has asked me to send my Throttle to Montreal for repairs (I'm in Nova Scotia). Overall, I'm very pleased with the quick response and look forward to others having resolution of this issue. I'm still extremely pleased with the performance and feel of the Warthog and I do not regret my purchase for a minute. S! -
Problem with Warthog Throttle
Toadster replied to Jg2001_Rasputin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi again. TM Tech Support has responded to my intial e-mail to them and assigned a trouble ticket number. They first asked what my MoBo was, then they sent a second e-mail with the instructions below. I already had the latest version of the 2010_TMHW_1.exe driver. The only problem is that since my Throttle is not recognized by Win 7 correctly, I cannot set the throttle into "Bulk Mode" which means I cannot complete the Firmware test that they sent me. I sent them the Joystick Firmware results (tmJoyFlashEeprom), but told them that the Throttle will not boot into Bulk Mode with the instruction that they provided (hold the AP Eng and LG Warn silence buttons while plugging the Throttle into the USB port)... Dear Mr. Todd Cormier, Thank you for your request. In order to resolve the issue you have encountered with your HOTAS Warthog, please refer to our response herewith: In order to correctly assess and solve the problem please follow these steps: 1. download the latest driver package WITHOUT installing it: ftp://ftp.thrustmaster.com/accessories/pc/hotas/exe/HOTAS_Warthog/2010_TMHW_1.exe 2. download the FSR program WITHOUT installing it: ftp://ftp.thrustmaster.com/accessories/pc/hotas/exe/HOTAS_Warthog/TMHW_FSR.zip 3. open the Warthog_Fimrware_procedure_v1 11.pdf procedure and follow the instructions; 4. send us the resulted firmware file (very important for future improvement and development). Feel free to contact us for any other information. We hope that the information we have provided is useful and has helped to resolve your query. Have a good day and please remember that Thrustmaster Technical Support is at your disposal for any other information you may need. You can reach us via the Web at the following addresses: http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng for the latest updates and FAQs or by telephone at one of the numbers listed on the following page: http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=contact King regards, Your Thrustmaster Technical Support Agent, Ana PS: To ensure the most efficient follow-up of your query, please be sure to include the reference number [266822-XXXXXXXXXX] of your file in the subject line of any emails you may send us later on I am away next week on business, but I'll still be corresponding with TM Tech Support until I get results (by that I mean an RMA # at this point I think). More to follow... S! -

Problem with Warthog Throttle
Toadster replied to Jg2001_Rasputin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi guys. My Throttle just packed it in as well (SN: 01865). I tried all the items suggested here with no success. A bit disappointed due to the cost factor in purchasing the unit. So, an e-mail is sent to TM Support and I'll wait to see what they say. I will update any progress that I may have. PC Specs: Alienware Aurora (Mobo 0H869M) BIOS A11 / i7920 O.C @ 3.2 / ATI 5870 1GB DDR5 / 9GB RAM Vendor TM was purchased from: Extreme Gaming Devices, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. My Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada PS: to all the people who posted their opinions on why "this" product or "that" product sucks, thanks for wasting my time reading absolute nonsense while trying to see if anyone had a real resolution to this growing problem. Keep it on topic please... -

Do you have the HMD Centering Mod installed? It causes Track play back issues when you watch it...

Hi Frederf. Can you expand on your first point saying that the Data Link system doesn't store anything to the ABRIS Memory? Storing target and ingress data to your ABRIS does in fact happen from my understanding of the system and what the manual describes. Once you designate a target or ingress point, it gets stored into your ABRIS until you delete it or crash and respawn...Then you can hand off that information from your ABRIS to your fellow wingmen via the Data Link system, assuming they are on the same VHF Freq. See the AFM Section 11-6 And for the second point, according to the AFM Section 7-38 "Saving Route Plans to ABRIS Database and 7-39 entitled "Saving Map Points and Map Lines to ABRIS Database", it explains in detail how to save the information to your PC's Hard Drive through your ABRIS while in "the pit". I also concur that you can use the PVI-800 and send Nav data as a Target Point via the Data Link system as per the AFM, Section 11-8 I'm not trying to show you up or anything (I'm really a reference freak as part of my job in real life), but I'm just trying to interpret what your explaining for my own S.A. Thanks and S!

While it is possible to change and actually store ABRIS Nav routes to your Hard Drive, I can't see in the manual where you can send the entire Nav Route via datalink (although that would be cool!). Section 7 is very detailed regarding the ABRIS, and there's tons of cool stuff that you can do with it. The best that I can suggest is to use the Ingress Points to share with your wingman via Data Link. You would have to keep adjusting your points once you reach the designated area, but it's a useful tool when you're spread apart from your wingmen and you want them to either find you, or go a different route due to SAM activity, etc. The procedure is in section 11 of the manual. Hope this helps!

+1 ::thumbup: I personally use 3 -2 - 1: 3 = is the number of flare SEQUENCES 2 = is the number of flares to be RELEASED in a single program sequence 1 = is the TIME DELAY between flare releases The description on how to set your UV-26 system (for those who don't know) is in your manual, Section 9-5. S! and good luck...

Inside your Black Shark folder, there is a folder called "docs" I believe. In there is everything you need to know about the Shark, from flying to systems operation. There's also some nice keyboard diagrams for you. The in game training videos aren't that bad to get you started, so I highly recommend that you start with the very first one and keep working on it until you're ready for the next one. Again, reading the manual is a must... There are also plenty of people in these forums that will offer their training services to help get you started, and they will probably offer them in this thread. There are also many posts within this forum that can certainly answer some specific questions if you can't find it in the manual. As for your Stick setup, it's personal preference, but at the very minimum, get a stick that has throttle control and twist grip for rudder. However a lot of pilots use a HOTAS setup with rudder pedals and TrackIR to help further their immersion into this great and complicated sim. Good luck and my best piece of advice to you: don't get discouraged! It's hard to learn how to fly the Shark well, but it will be rewarding so enjoy this sim anyway you can. It's up to you to to decide a what level you want to be proficient at... S!
