  1. Isn't that the whole operational fleet though?
  2. Inb4 "what is a merge plan"
  3. https://youtu.be/YVaY6y32J6Q?t=669 Real world flight model displays this buggy AOA behavior too, apparently.
  4. I don't think it shows that the jammer can have any other techniques - You can display it however you want, but really all it is an RF signal in-game. Most display it as noise, Mirage does something else, but the signal is not defined in itself, if that makes sense. Just my understanding of it at least. I'd love to have more, though, whether it's just an impression of more modeling (like faking false target jamming in the Mirage) or if the jammer actually jammed like a defensive jammer! Make sure you turn it on before being locked by the tracking radar. It's a little weird, but in my experiences they'll shoot max range if you don't go music on before being hard locked.
  5. BFBunny, UAVs need pilots too...It's not like they're some Terminator-style autonomous killing machines.
  6. I know that with AI fighters they give a lock warning to anything in their search FoV when they lock something...Maybe SAMs are doing the same thing now? IDK
  7. Exactly. Debriefing is a VERY important thing. So is briefing, but you really learn in the debrief. I can't recommend slapping yourself in the sim or in real life, but you get the point. :megalol:
  8. 12.5g broke the jet in the sense that it was damaged beyond repair, sorry for the confusion. 14g symmetric would break it in that sense or worse. 14g asymmetric would also break it in either sense. Nobody is telling you to fly 14g (a)symmetric profiles. It's impossible to do the first and hard to do the second (you REALLY have to want it). The Eagle's 14g thing is so hard to abuse that's nearly irrelevant from a PVP standpoint, basically. That's the TLDR of it. Maybe that's clearer? I'll admit that ENO's (right name?) forum signature is the most accurate ever. :) Edit: Also, I think that percentage of design G limit overload paints the clearest picture. Remember that 3 bag A that tried an impromptu airshow? Yeah, a 6g design limit and a 9ish G break (150% of design limit in configuration). 9 +50% is 13.5. You hit that, which is in Eagle speak a code 5 overload (>140%), and stuff should break...Big stuff, like wings, engines, your life, etc. Should there be consequences for flying horribly? Sure, why not. But why should you fly horribly to begin with? (i.e. disregard design limits, bad techniques (blending while transsonic f. ex.), etc.) I guess that one comes down to the difference between the simulator and game mindsets, maybe?
  9. Yes :D Just kidding. I meant that the issue needs to be viewed from a perspective of what is realistic - Not "What balances my part of the simulator" There's two other things, as well: What can be modeled? What is useful to model? BST will do what they can, I'm sure.
  10. There's more to a simulator than airquake competitive gameplay...
  11. Awesome. That'd be a fun jet to fly...Just saying... :D
  12. Bro do you even oblique vertical? Edit: Or spiral? :)
  13. Pretty sure the bags are 9g capable when empty...A 10g maneuver with a bag or two doesn't seem like an impossibility at all, IMO. Think about all these RL overload incidents that guys like Tharos bring up sometimes - They're using the same bags we use and they're pulling 9 to 11g. Edit: And if you have fuel in the bags, like that 3 bag F-15A did one time...Don't pull 9g. :)
  14. It absolutely is about how useful the bug/exploit in quesiton is - Because how useful it is when exploited will determine if or when it gets changed. That's not what virtual Chuck Norris or whatever you called him thought. He and others used the direct control mode for BFM VERY successfully. That bug *was* significantly useful. Yeah those Flanker guys who fly the Eagle once a year to make a track for their strawman will be absolutely shocked. And besides, that's assuming BST sees this as a bug worth fixing. ;) There are much bigger things that affect the Eagle right now and have a huge effect on the PVP that everyone loves - They just don't effect the Flanker guys negatively so there's no complaining.
  15. Lol no. There's a point where adding G just adds bleed rate and no useful turn rate...
  16. Thanks for the new profile picture Monkey.
  17. Whoever isn't pulling 14g in a loop. :smilewink:
  18. "Would anyone (...) want a V-22?" YES! Inb4 classification memes.
  19. ^Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!
  20. ECM in-game is nothing more than noise jamming (or that's what it's most similar to...). Some fighters have a more powerful jamming effect than others and that's that. It doesn't do squat to any radar missiles and is really only about denying acquisition and sort down to ~20nmi. Pretty much like carrying an ALQ-99 with you, just 100x crappier. This document explains a lot of RL ECM if you're interested! Real world your ECM would jam a particular targeting threat. There's a load of triggers and parameters and consent settings and so on...In the sim it's like "take off, FENCE In, Music on, hit factor range on a bandit, music off" Though it isn't like any other flight simulator really models jamming in depth. AFAIK most do it to a superficial level. I hope ED goes more in depth eventually, but it'd be a huge undertaking. Now as for ground threats, similar story in-game...All ECM does there in-game is reduce the launch range of radar SAMs by some value. Drops maybe 30-60% or something...Not very realistic. If anyone's interested in the GBAD point of view I would download SAM Simulator (it's free, after all) or maybe just it's documentation and read a bit of it. There's a LOT of stuff going on in the RF world.
  21. Fair enough. :)
  22. Dynamic thrust and aircraft drag paint a different picture, usually. For example: Consider how much drag (and weight...) the Strike Eagle typically has vs the F-15C. Or for the thread's supposed topic...Ever consider a MiG-29A? I've heard it's a bit of a bullet... That manual should be online for easy verification. I'll look into it.
