  1. Thanks, luckily I will not be writing it, my .lua and c++ mate will be. With my degree in Aeromech, I will be crunching the equations but no coding :)
  2. So if the transparency is controlled using the texture images alpha channel, what effect does the opacity channel in the materials editor have. Currently I have the glass texture map assigned to both the diffuse and opacity channels with 100 and 15 set respectively. Thanks in advance, Jacks
  3. I am in the early stages of a mod and about to animate with the hope of developing an EFM in the future. Is there a template EFM still contained in the DCS World install?
  4. I hope so! I for one would love to see a spotter aircraft developed that could be used for recce and to direct artillery fire.
  5. Thanks for the help, after more playing around I got it to work!
  6. Thanks, hopefully this is possible in gimp 2.......
  7. I am trying to add a glass cockpit to a mod I am working on but cannot get it to work. I have created a blue dds texture (DXT 5) with an alpha channel and opacity set to 2% (using gimp and not photoshop). I have assigned this map to the diffuse channel (100%) and the opacity channel (5%). I have set the blinn parameter opacity to 5 also. For the diffuse and opacity channels I have set the mono channel to alpha and set the alpha input to image input. I have made the material 'cool' and set it to glass in material attributes but in modelvirwe right it is not transparent at all although it has the blue colour used in the diffuse map. What I am doing wrong?! Can you use dds textures for diffuse and opacity maps or do you have to use TGA images?
  8. Have I made the changes suggested here and no more errors!! I can not however get the glass to be transparent. I have set the setting to Alpha as described above and set the opacity map to 30. How do I control the texture alpha channel using gimp 2?
  9. Yeah, looking good mate.
  10. I do not know what dxt setting was used as the textures are not mine. I also don't used photoshop but instead use gimp so will need to look how to check and possibly change these settings. The same process was used for textures.
  11. Yes I have made cool for each of the materials.
  12. Here are my glass setting in basic ME: Glass Setting1.bmp Glass Setting2.bmp
  13. When loading my model into ModelViewer I get the attached error message and the glass is not see through in model view. What does this error mean? Error Warning.bmp
  14. Really? I don't see any mention of it in the forum rules and surely trying to add a non-commercial model from another sim is just like adding any other user made model. This little project is likely to take more than 6 months as only the physical model can be used with the requirement to retexturing and apply materials, re-animate and write a flight model.
  15. So I have a .mdl model that I would like to port into DCS (yes I have the author's permission) so I converted the .mdl to .obj and imported it into blender. The problem is that none of the triangular faces in the model are connected and all move independently, it seems that each face has its own set of vertices with multiple vertices sitting over each other where the edges/faces meet. Any ideas how to import the model with single vertices between faces? Or will I have to merge the co-located vertices into one? Also I cannot find a way to select all of the co-located vertices at once. Any ideas? Jacks
  16. My wish is that instead of temporary runways, we can place flyable aircraft anywhere on the map like we can static aircraft and then place a series of tents and supporting vehicles to create our temporary airfield in a suitable field. Some camouflage netting would be great too!
  17. Will support be added to export this to Apple devices?
  18. Any need for the foul language in the video title? Remember these forums are also frequented by under 18s.
  19. No matter how many times I try, I struggle to score hits on enemy aircraft. How do you use the gunsight? Do you give a target lead when in a turning or pitching pursuit?
  20. Go into mission editor, weather section and there is an option for turbulence severity. Set that.
  21. Agreed, I am now very confused. There must be some miscommunication somewhere..........
  22. Thanks, looks great. Eagerly awaiting the announcement.
  23. Good luck with that request!:megalol:
