In multiplayer (VR) the frames half as soon as the battery is turned on and return back to 45 once turned off. With inly 22 FPS it can only be flown for a few minutes due to nausea This happens in no other aircraft and makes the gazelle unplayable in multiplayer. I can maintain a solid 45 FPS (ASW) with every aircraft in DCS except the gazelle.

No microstutters but scenery passes by stuttering!
Jacks replied to rajdary's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I have the same but only in VR despite 45 fps. In 2d it is smooth as butter. -
Is anyone else getting micro-stutters (every few seconds) when flying helos close to the ground? An upgrade to an 8700k and a fresh install of both Windows and DCS has not got rid of this problem for me!

I have done some testing in multiplayer VR and when I get into the cockpit the frames are 45fps like in all other aircraft but as soon as I turn the battery on my frames drop to 22-25 and is a stutter fest. Through the whole flight the frames will jump between 30-40 and 20-30. EVERY other aircraft maintains a solid 45FPS (including Mi-8). This problemndoesnt seem to exist in single player just multiplayer where there are two slots available fornrsch aircraft. At thr moment the gazelle is unplayable online in VR as it just makes me feel sick due to low FPS. P.s I have tried a fresh install of Windows and DCS and the problem persists.

I have lowered my settings to give a constant 45FPS in the rift (inludig no msaa) but I get constant micro-stutters (probably every 5 secs or so) where I noticed the ground just 'jump' slightly or if i am planning my view their is a very slight pause or stutter that is very noticable. Also this sounds like a minor problem it is making me feel nauseous! Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? P.s I have also upgraded to a 8700k and dine a fresh install of Windows and DCS th4 problem persists.

The big performance killer is MSAA and so many of us are having to run the game with no AA in order to get reasonable smooth frames. Despite the lower visual quality (yes I do miss the visuals of the new map a bit) the sense of immersion is fundamentally game changing and most of us will never go back to 2D regardless of quality.

Will I see any VR performance increase 3570k to 8700k?
Jacks replied to Jacks's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well I bought a 8700k so I guess I will find out for myself! -
Just bought a 8700k today with the following: 8700k ASRock Extreme4 Z370 MB 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RAM Noctura NH-D15S Cooler Should all arrive tomorrow....... My hope is to get a stable 5GHz OC and hopefully see a boost to VR (less dips below 45FPS) or maybe even 2xMSAA with 1.5PD but I think that is a pipe dream! In the future I will probably upgrade to a M.2 SSD for DCS and leave Windows on a SATA SSD. I will also upgrade to 32GB RAM. Abburo our specs will be near identical so I would be interested in what settings you are running for VR.

Will I see any VR performance increase 3570k to 8700k?

Cib, I have decided to go with the ASRock Extreme4 as it has pretty everything I need, the only thing the Fatal1ty K6 has over it is the ability to overclock an external base clock. -

I have decided to go the Noctura in the hope that it will man enough for 5GHz without delidding. I prefer air coolers as they are low risk and low maintenance. I will be going for 2x8gb 3200MHz DDR4 RAM as I can't afford 2x16GB right and will upgrade later once DCS (or star citizen) become RAM hungry. Thanks for all the help. -
Is this with any MSAA?

Just about to place an order for 8700k but trying to decide which MB and cooler. Current options: MB: ASRock Pro4 ASRock Extreme4 ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming K6 Asus ROG Strix H Coolers: Noctura NH-15s NZXT Kraken X52 -
I am using no MSAA and 1.5 PD at it is a pretty solid 45FPS with SAW.

Turning stick twist into wheel braking
Jacks replied to Jacks's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Is it possible to add a modifier to an axis? If so I could use the working brake as the wheel brake and set the hat switch left and right as modifiers so I can choose which brake is used...... -

Thanks, does target have to run in the background and therefore use up CPU? -
To jump on this thread, I have a similar problem. According to both task manager and afterburner my 1080 is running at 90%+ and often hitting 100% whereas no cpu cores are hitting above 50%. Thereofre i aorried that the £700 I am about to spend upgrading my old 3570k to a 8700k will be wasted with no noticeable improvement in VR performance.

There is no point buying a 1080ti with the 2080 out in a few months -
One of the brake pedals on my saitek pedals has stopped working and so I would like to use my stick rotation to control individual wheel braking so twisting it right will apply right wheel brake and twisting it left will apply left wheel brake. I could do this by using it as a slider and applying saturation to isolate each side of the twist but i cannot apply the same axis to two functions. Is there any way around this?

Turning stick twist into wheel braking

The reason I want to map it to my stick is because I am flying in VR and so don't want to use the keyboard. I don't have any buttons left to map on my stick or throttle quadrant -

I am a bit disappointed in VR performance in DCS. I have a 3570k Oc'd to 4.5 and a GTX 1080. In VR with 1.2 PD and x2 MSAA my cpu is running at less than 50% and my GTX 1080 is working at 98-100% and struggling to maintain 45FPS. Does this mean that I won't see a performance boost upgrading my CPU to a 8700k (Oc'd to 5GHz+) and upgrading my 1600hz DDR3 RAM to 3000Hz DDR4 RAM? I am concerned that I would be wasting my money as it looks like my 12 month old GTX 1080 is bottleneck and holding back my 5 year old 3570k!
-
Thanks guys, it seems that my GPU won't go above 1.3 and maintain 45FPS which is a shame (MSSA x2) but I guess I was concerned by the low CPU usage as I am upgrading to a 8700k (hope to OC to 5GHz) and I would hate to think that I won't see any improvement in VR in DCS for quite an expensive upgrade since it would now seem that my GPU is the bottleneck not my 5 year old CPU. I was hoping that an 8700k would allow me to increase PD to 1.5 while maintaining the same settings.
