  1. Naturally I cant speak for everyone who was apart of it, but some of us are working still working with ED. The most recent update of the project is here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=43634 Last I heard, Yeniceri had real life stuff he was taking care of.
  2. I have not heard of an Iraq terrain being created... Hawgs has already finished his work and posted it. However, I did not feel that the quality was high enough and since we lost the original files, so I am remaking it with high resolution than before. I have no idea about A10C being delayed, but I would imagine it would not be.
  3. So, its been a while since I made an update. This is because I have had to make some big decisions about the project that were hard for me to make. During the time between my previous update and now, the team has been hard at work collecting data and reworking almost every aspect of the project. Here are some screenshots that I took earlier today during some testing. As you will see, the terrain is being reworked from scratch. This decision was made for two reasons. First off, myself along with others, were not satisfied with the quality of old textures and mesh. Now, if you are still reading this and havent skipped to the screenshots, you might be wondering why not simply just rework the current terrain? That brings us to the second point. The old original .max files for the terrain were lost and there was no other option but to redo it. Hopefully you guys will see a difference between these screenshots and the old terrain that you might have seen.
  4. Somewhat. Im using the Ace Edge controller that i got from the ace combat 6 limited edition. My PC thinks its an ordinary 360 controller though, theres no special drivers. It works like a charm! When i get home ill to some testing to see if I can map something to the right joystick.

  6. Please keep in mind that this terrain was in my opinion released prematurely. The Nellis team is hard at work creating the entire base. As of now, the base is quite populated by about 60 unique buildings/ structures. I cant post any screenshots at the moment right now though. But I did recently get a screenshot of one of the structures that has been textured and it looks freaking incredible. Shaggs: ED is helping out the nellis team tremendously, but most of the conversation has been behind the scenes.

  10. someone correct me if im wrong, but pop-up group means bandits were just discovered, bearing 63 means if you make your heading 63 degrees you will intercept them, and for 23, means they are 23 miles or kilometers away from you
  11. yepp. Thats actually very simple because the model is already created, textured, and has a damage model assigned to it. It is as simple as creating a plane in the runways file and naming it to whatever the model filename is.

  13. I actually just manually copied the files into the folders. But that max script might be doing something in addition to simply coping the files over. Try this to see if the files have been put into the right folder: First image, click on whats circled in red: Second, Click the box thing on the right that is circled in red: Third, scroll down in the list and see if you have the things listed that are circled in red:
  14. ahhh. I should have read your message in more detail when you said you couldent find the format to export. You dont export it through the normal file -> export. You do it through the plugins on the right side. red is step one. click it to bring up the options below blue is the second step. click it and then browse to the .lsa2 file pink is the third step. click on this, and then save it in the .rn format Let me know if you have any more questions.

  19. Yes. All buildings for the nellis project were created from scratch and represent actual buildings on the airbase. As for previous updates, there were a few but they are scattered. Im hoping to create a regular format for updates, if the community wants it.

  21. Hey everyone. Its been a while since there has been an official update so here it is. Here is what has been going behind the scenes of the simmod Nellis project. In the past, updates have come from Yeniceri but future updates will be coming from me. The Nellis team has been hard at work since our last update and object creation for the Nellis base is about 90% completed now, there are still a few more things left to make. We have begun to switch our focus from creating 3d objects to unwrapping. I would like to make these updates somewhat regular to keep you all informed on what is happening. So let me know what you guys would like to see in future updates (member interviews, answering questions, etc). I would like to tailor these updates to what you guys want rather than just give out useless information. For now, I will leave you all with a little bit of eye candy.   22. I know this probably doesnt help people, but you can use a PCI videocard with an onboard videocard at the same time. As far as I know, you cannot use an AGP and onboard card together.
  23. Just a heads up, when i installed the plugins, my ability to export in the .lom format stopped working. To solve this, i just made a copy my max8 folder, changed the .ini file so it would use the files in the new directory, and now I can easily use two instances of max. One for loms and another for the terrain tools.
  24. Yes, there are plans to make a tutorial. Please see the three links at the bottom of this link: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/All_about_land From my knowledge, it only works in max 2008. However feel free to try it in max8 and see what happens. As of right now, only the terrain tools have been publicly released. you dont necessarily use max to create the terrain from scratch. From my understanding, you use another program that accurately has mapped terrain and you can save it as a certain type of image format in grayscale. When you import this into max, the different shades of gray represent different height and thus your terrain is automatically generated. (I think)
