  1. I believe the airfield is currently located at 0,0 in 3ds max. You need to move it to where you want it to be, export it, then re-compile the scn file
  2. 1024x1024 Anything timing about the tools release is unknown to me.
  3. Export in pieces. When exporting for the second or third time, select the same .lsa2 file. It will say "would you like to overwrite the file" like normal, but it will just inject the new data into it and not erase anything
  4. I would assume this to be the case
  5. http://www.simwolfs.com/1/PluginsMax7-8_b2.rar please try these plugins
  6. What version of Max? It looks like 2010. The .lom plugins only work with max7 and max8
  7. I use it for myself mostly. Either as a reference or to mark places I need to go back to. Somehow it got in there when I uploaded my building file..
  8. specular map, normal map, bump map, multi-sub materials, plus some other stuff. Max to EDM? That is the current way to export...
  9. Ah, seeing how the format is being tweaked still, I do not thing it would be wise to use yet if it were even released.
  10. Use the current one because they still currently work with FC2 and DCS:BS. I do not see how newer ones would be useful? Unknown to me. Use 32bit ones for now; even if on a 64bit machine
  11. please list your export steps
  12. First, you need to locate it in the map. 0,0 in max corresponds to the middle of crimea i think? I am not certain. To figure this out, import the stock .lsa2 file. To make airfields, look at the example files, then modify it to fit what you want is the best way to start out. For exporting, please read this: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Create_airfields
  13. Creating an entire map is a HUGE amount of effort. Not only do you need to create the terrain, but you need to create completely new airfields, 3d objects, bug testing....lots of time :)
  14. There is no real set size, from my understanding it depends on detail that you put into it and polygon count of the ground mesh. I pretty sure an Iraq size is doable. It is very likely. I can make a small piece of ground that works quite quickly, but doing larger areas takes time as you have to check for errors and such. Then the real fun comes with creating airbases and populating the world with 3d models :D
  15. ticking = very bad. i would start backing up your data now. Its usually the little head that reads the magnetic plate that makes this sound and it moves to find data. My guess would be that since DCS has tons of files, models, textures, geometry, etc, that needs to be loaded constantly, this is why the disk head is going crazy at times and thus making a clicking sound a lot more often
  16. Mostly correct I think, I joined later into the project, but have since become the point man on it. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=921493&postcount=287 go to the main thread in page 29 for more information if you cannot download it. It is a big process to do roads, rivers, and airfields. Plus everyone needs to have the exact same files to work properly.
  17. I actually have an idea in mind...
  18. The planes need their pipes flushed out too you know... And for those who asked about runway signs....you have your answer :)
  19. close, but nope. its actually a model of Voyager from startrek. I put it in for fun and forgot I had it when i took the screenshot
