Just saw the Sabre video. That's not a Sabre!!! That's an X-Wing disguised as a Korean-era fighter!!! :surprise: That guy pulled a 12G loop at 900+km/h that an RedBull Racing Su-31 would have difficulty performing at 200km/h!!! This game is definitely funny!!! :)

I really tried to like it. I flew it for about a week giving it time to sink in between the bizarre abnormalities I saw in the flight model representation. I had a sip of coffee, took a deep breath and tried to convince me it was just another "perspective" into the world of flight simulation. :dontgetit: I even unlocked a few planes from repeatedly farming online and single player. However, in the end, it just started to bother me. I really admire those who like it and fly it well. I just found it not to be my cup of tea. Like I said, I believe it's a much more "flexible" view into the flight simulator world. It didn't cut for me. :pilotfly:

Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight question
dok_rp replied to freespirit's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I really have to disagree with you on that. Go to options ==> Gameplay. Then under Difficulties, enable both "Game Flight Mode" and "Game Avionics". This is the "game" mode we have for the Ka-50, UH-1 and Mi-8. This is what the OP was looking for. Collective is then controlled by the letters "Q" and "A" and the game is even playable with a keyboard. The "radar" is a top down view of the battlefield around you showing ground, AAA, SAM and Aircraft allies and threats. Waypoints become little green floating circles in the air or wherever they have been placed. The idea of the developers was always to make an extremely high fidelity simulator, but they also wanted to make it approachable or even enjoyable to all publics. That's why game flight mode and game avionics have been implemented from a long time ago. The "radar" has been implemented both in the Ka-50 and UH-1 under GAME mode. Enable the two "game" options and you'll see it in the top right corner of the screen. :) -
Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight question
dok_rp replied to freespirit's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Hello sir and welcome to the forums. Please, don't be daunted by the reactions many will have when you ask questions like that. Most people believe the only way to enjoy this game is by playing it with all difficulty settings cranked all the way up. This could not be farther from the truth. The best way to enjoy anything in life is to enjoy it the way you like it the most. Your question was fair and square and your motivations totally valuable. Easy flight mode is there and it's there to be used by whomever feels like it. :) Unfortunately, the Mi-8 simulator, even though highly playable in current state, is still a beta product and, therefore, many of its features are still work in progress. The easy flight mode is there. You set it to easy and you can fly that beast even with the keyboard, however that cool interface with the radar and aiming reticule have not been implemented as of now. The Huey (I don't know if the UH-1 is your cup of tea) is a little ahead in development and so its easy flight mode interface is a little better developed, but not in its entirety as well. The flexible mount miniguns, for example, tend to go a little haywire most of the times. If you want to fly these helicopters exclusively in easy flight mode, maybe it'd be better to pass them up for a few months until development furthers up a little bit more. Hope that was explanatory enough and don't be afraid to ask as many questions as possible. There is always someone eager to help. Cheers! Fly safe! :pilotfly: -
No problem. Anytime. :) EDIT: Sorry, hadn't seen your other problem with the F-15C. As for the continuous dispense of chaffs and flares, let me see if I got that straight. You want to use the "Airbrake Switch" in the "forward" position to start dispensing countermeasures and when returning it to the "central" position, you want it to stop. Is that right? Hope I got that right. Again, the easiest way to solve this it by using TARGET. The continually dispense countermeasures is the command "L_SHIFT+Q". All you gotta do is to set a "PRESS" command to the "SPDF" which is the Speed Brake Forward button with the "L_SHIFT+Q" key command and make it a "PULSE" type of command. Then you set a "RELEASE" command to THE SAME KEY, the same key combination and the same type. That way, when you "press" Speed Brake Forward, you'll "pulse", which represents a single key press the Left Shift+Q command, and it'll start dispensing chaffs and flares. When you return the key to its centralized position you'll have "released" it, which will again send another Left Shift+Q pulse command and stop the automatic dispensing of countermeasures. ==================================================== I hope that was not too confusing. If that was not clear enough, I can make a little video further explaining it. TARGET is an extremely flexible piece of software, it just takes some effort and patience to get it to work like we want. Rest assured that after you get used to the HOTAS Warthog you'll never go back to any other joystick. :) ===================================================== EDIT 2: Just saw your gripe with the key positions. In my testing I found that the most comfortable position to operate the throttle is by having it sit to the left of left thigh, in the same position as in the real aircraft. I did that by getting a little bar stool I have in my house and resting the throttle there. It did wonders to me as everything becomes more reachable and the buttons more accessible. Hope that helps. :)

F-86F Pre-Purchase w/ Open Beta Access - July 26th, 2014

I'm on it. -
Like they said, to get the flaps to work correctly you have to use the "Control Sync" function in the control options, use an edited lua file or use TARGET. I got it to work using TARGET. The disadvantage is that you're going to map all the functions for the A-10C using TARGET. If you're willing to use TARGET, this is the configuration you're going to have to use: For the joystick Key called FLAPU Event Type: PRESS Event Name: Flaps Up Key Command: L_SHIFT+f Type: Pulse Event Type: RELEASE Event Name: Flaps Down Key Command: f Type: Pulse For the joystick key called FLAPD Event Type: PRESS Event Name: Flaps Down Key Command: f Type: Pulse Event Type: RELEASE Event Name: Flaps Up Key Command: L_SHIFT+f Type: Pulse ====================================================== As you see, you won't need the FLAP MIDDLE key. You'll set all commands under TARGET using the PRESS and RELEASE commands. In case you want a TARGET profile already set up, I'm attaching mine as well. :) DCS A-10C.zip

Holy smokes!!!! This is gorgeous!!!!! :shocking:

All my planes are set up using TARGET. After absolutely hating it for about 3 months after purchasing the stick (and actually even trying to sell the stick for hating TARGET so much :joystick:), today I'm totally in love with it. It gives me the flexibility that I need. (This last sentence sounded like a Tampax commercial catch phrase. :megalol:)

Just like the previous poster said, do not stop shooting at the FW-190D9 until it's: 1) On fire. 2) Depleted of a wind or a good chunk of it. 3) Flying without a pilot. If not at least one of the conditions above is met, he may shoot you down. Fly safe! :pilotfly:

I'm amazed that you guys actually saw that laser marking in the Lockheed video. I would have NEVER seen it, were I not actually looking for it. I'm amazed!!! :shocking::shocking::shocking:

X-52 Upgrade to Thrustmaster Warthog
dok_rp replied to Nybble's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I like mine. Took me a while to get used to it; especially because of the lack of rotaries and axis. Programing with the TARGET software is a bit awkward too. After about 6 months with mine, I like it a lot. :) -
I think this is also an known issue, Isn't it? :) This is the reason why I avoid flying the Mi-8 in multiplayer sessions. :)

Public inquiry. What is your PC video card?

3/9 & 5mil - PLEASE EXPLAIN DIFFERENCES AND SIMULARITIES??

Good job on the research. You've pretty much nailed. -
3/9 & 5mil - PLEASE EXPLAIN DIFFERENCES AND SIMULARITIES??
dok_rp replied to ryguy101077's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Right, but I don't think your popularity and/or visibility will skyrocket in this one, though. -
Like what's already been said, turn to target merely points you in the general direction of your Shkval's pipper and its purpose is to help you align the helicopter with your target. It's quite useful when you have a few targets spread out in an arch in front of you. Just don't forget to turn it off when you want to maneuver the helicopter, since it's going to interfere with the Heading Channel of the autopilot. Hope that helps. Happy flying! :pilotfly:

I have also read that engine oveheating was Work In Progress.
-
I've never had that either. I have the same joystick. I don't use the in-game configuration. All my commands are configured through TARGET. :)
-
Then please do enlighten me much as well, because I have never been able to keep the radar on while on nav mode in the F-15C or in the Russian jets. :) Whenever I switch to nav mode (press 1 on the keyboard) the radar goes off. Pressing "I" does not switch it on for me. Is there a workaround for it? :)

The F-15C, which is part of Flaming Cliffs 3, is not a study sim, such as the A-10C, Ka-50, UH1, P-51D or the Mi8. It's a feature sim and many, if not most of what we see only goes as far as RESEMBLING the real aircraft. If there were real HOTAS functionality in the F-15C, none of the commands we have in-game would work as they do in the real thing. So, to make it short and simple: Don't compare it with F4.0 BMS. The only thing in common they have is that they both have wings and fly. Similarities end there, though. :) Oh... the new AFM in the F-15C is sure sweet and in many terms better than what is found in BMS. The rest doesn't compare. :pilotfly:

To me, it never ground stabilizes. It used to, though. Now, there's a small but very irritating constant slew. The range after lasing is also completely broken. It used to work a little. It got broken some updates ago.

ED is surely biting much more than they can chew right now. Hope they have the stomach to digest everything and that we have the patience to slowly absorb all of its nourishment. I'm pretty sure the Ka-50 will eventually get fixed, but that will take a long time. In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they threw at us yet another paid upgrade: Black Shark 3. If the price were right I'd pay for it as an upgrade to BS2. :pilotfly: .

I got an answer from the user morphine at the BMS forums. Just in case someday someone might want to do the same thing. This is a working REXEC repeating function that works both in the shifted and unshifted states. Hope someone else might also find it useful: MapKeyIO(&Throttle,CSU, REXEC(01, 100, "ActKey(KEYON+PULSE+L_SHIFT+F5);"), REXEC(02, 100, "ActKey(KEYON+PULSE+L_SHIFT+F3);")); Control+F3 will be unshifted and Control+F5 will be shifted. :smartass:
