Indeed these are the default values, but I find them very slow especially because the 15 points of saturation is max speed you will ever get and when you use the digital command you actually get a very nice acceleration which helps immensely when panning around the battlefield with the TGP or Shkval. :)

Thanks Sarge, but even with your configuration the TGP is still too fast. After doing some more testing using the ministick set up under TARGET with the digital keys, I've found that this configuration is almost perfect. It's not as good as setting a joystick button ingame to the TGP, but it's close enough. Problem is, I'm going to have to recreate profiles to the planes I had almost finished setting up within the game. No problem. At least I got that sorted out. Thanks again!

Hello guys, I have been having a terrible time using the ministick on the HOTAS Warthog due to its extreme sensitivity. The default configuration is far too slow and I have tried fiddling with it in all possible ways: increasing deazones, lowering saturations, adding all sorts of response curves, but in the end, I always end up with a slew function that is extremely slow or ridiculously fast and I always have to resort to using the keyboard for finer TGP and Shkval adjustments, since I always overshoot the target I'm supposed to designate. With the Blackshark and Su25T things get even worse because their sensors are even more sensitive. What I have had to do was to ignore the ministick altogether and simply map the TGP and Shkval slew commands to the mic button. It's amazing how much better it becomes. The precision you gain is incredible. However, I feel stupid for such having to use such a cheap workaround after having paid so much money on this HOTAS. The simple thing that makes the digital command so much better than the analog one is the fact that the latter has an embedded acceleration which the analog command lacks. When you click and hold the slew command on the keyboard, it gradually accelerates, making minor adjustments very easy while allowing you to cover large terrain distances by holding the command down. When using the microstick under the analog function, it becomes extremely sensitive and one would have to be extraordinarily gentle to achieve what the digital command allows. I also tried using TARGET, and mapping a keypress to the ministick, but even there the sensitivity is far greater than simply configuring a button to assume the slew function. Being able to reproduce the same acceleration function the button is submitted to would vastly improve the usability of the ministick of this expensive hotas system. Therefore, would it be possible to add an acceleration function to the analog microstick so it could actually be of use? Thanks a lot!!! :pilotfly:

I might add a little to the discussion too. There's another kind of approach which the C-17 is very famous for. It's called Tactical Approach, and it involves coming straight for a very high final. At the last moment all engines are reversed and the aircraft simply plunges out of the sky. It's extremely cool to watch. Check this video out ==> Cheers!! :pilotfly:

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck

Thank you so much PeterP. This solves the problem with the Bizarre view restrictions when flying DCS A10C and TrackIR. Thank you very much for your implementation!!! :smartass: -
WH TOTAS QUESTION FOR A10 AND BS2
dok_rp replied to sobe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
TARGET also combines both the stick and the throttle into a single controller and, therefore, key assignments you had designated for both the stick and throttle when they were separated will not work either. :) -
Hotas - Between X52pro and Warthog - Suggestions?
dok_rp replied to fiveohmike's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm selling my Warthog after 2 months of use. I simply abhorred the TARGET software you need to use if you want anything other super simplistic in-game key assignments. If you want to shell out 400 dollars on a joystick and have the knowledge and/or time to learn how to script program with TARGET, then the Warthog is your clear choice. I only have about 6 hours per week to fly and certainly not have the time nor the patience to learn scripting in order to achieve the same level of macro complexity I used to be able to achieve with the Saitek software. I had an X52 PRO for 3 years and sold it in impeccable condition. I'll wait for the X55 and will most certainly buy one. For what you pay, you can't go wrong with the X52. However, if you want very good build quality (at a price) and is ready to delve into TARGET, then the Warthog is your girl. That's my 2 cents. :) -
For a U$500 joystick which is aimed at consumer masses and not at a niche of script programming buffs, this joystick leaves a lot to be desired. There are no, zero, nil tutorials on in the internet which could help a newcomer transfer from one platform to this one. There are 3 videos from SimHQ on YT which cover close to nothing, and one website with a poorly written startup tutorial; and that's it. TARGET looks like those terribly optimized pieces of software which make no sense, except for the programmer who's designed it. There are no tool tips at all, the layout is appalling, and the GUI on par with a sub-par product; not with THIS joystick. And there's also the fact that the company offers no support forum at all. People bash Saitek dead to their bones, but I've never had a post in their forums left unanswered. There's also the fact the software does not recognize key combinations created using an international (non-English,French or German) keyboard. That's shocking. I'm pretty sure I'd be ashamed of releasing this kind of software with this type of product. It's like selling a Ferrari with faux-leather seats and an all-plastic interior. It just doesn't cut at all. With the Saitek software I could program macros for Arma 2, and create very useful key arrangements for other sims I also fly. What used to be an incredibly simple task with the older, but functional joystick/software became a herculean task with this one. Therefore, I cannot rely solely upon the in-game configuration, because, even though, that might suffice for DCS, it won't for the other sims I play/fly. That's very sad.

I'm appalled by the absurdity this piece of software is. I come from 3 years of use with the Saitek Software in the X-52 PRO and Saitek Pedals which is superbly intuitive and easy to comprehend. This whole time I've heard the worst possible things from Saitek software which I've never experienced. There have been crashes, but its usability was always top tier. On the other hand, I've heard the most marvelous things from Thrustmaster and how they care about their customers and whatnot, only to find myself staring flabbergasted at my monitor screen chuckling at how ridiculous this piece of software is. Never have I regretted so much having sold an old joystick. My only wish is to get rid of this joystick and go back to the old one. Whoever designed this ogrish piece of software sure deserves a medal for it's quite possible the worst thing I've ever seen; to the point of being funny.

All my DCS modules are bought from their own store. Question: Can I buy a module from Steam and activate it on the DCS store?

Diveplanes DCS A10C audio mod package
dok_rp replied to diveplane's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I really do hope this doesn't turn into a ranting flaming cesspool of disgrace like the previous posts on this matter... Having that said, I seriously don't understand the negativism when a user decides to release his work, which cost him hours and hours of effort and dedication, by getting money for it. It's his work, it's his time. By no means he needs to release it for free. If you don't like, simply don't buy it. When you purchased a DCS sim, by no means did you get coupons that granted you free mods and extra content, so I can't figure the ranting that usually arises when people decide they want to sell their work. If lots of people have the desire to offer up their selves for free, it's their problem and their problem alone. I, for example, am subtitling a 2 hour and 47 minute-long Noam Chomsky documentary into my native language for a great friend of mine. It's a gift I want to give this person. The work alone will take around 2 months, maybe more, and it could be easily sold for around 5,000 dollars. It's my decision to give it as a gift, for the things this person has already done to me, but that does not mean my work is available for free in the market. My honest opinion is, if your work is good enough, and it's charged at a reasonable price, people will pay for it, otherwise it'll be lost in oblivion. Keep up the good work, diveplane, and let us know of how it's turning out. :pilotfly: Best regards! :smartass: -
Hello guys, I am looking for the thread about BMS, for there was some interesting info there I wanted to read, but I simply can't find it. Has it been deleted? If so, was it infringing any forum rules? If so, which ones? Thanks, and I hope this is not a touchy subject. :)

OMG!!! REALLY??? :shocking::shocking::shocking::shocking::shocking::shocking: My world was been shattered to pieces!!! Incredible. Never had I though of that. Since the sound very much resembles the gear box whining of high performance racing cars, I thought it was somehow connected with the supercharger gears whining or something like that. Incredible to discover this after so many years. Thank you! :smartass:
-
Can I ask a question? :smilewink: Why is it that sometimes we are able to hear the P-51 supercharger (is that the supercharger?) screaming in a fly-by, such as the one in the first video, and some other times we just hear the engine sound like in the third video at 1 minunte and 40 seconds? 1) Are those two different engines? 2) Does the pilot manually force a higher supercharger gear at low altitude just for the show-off pass? This has always puzzled me. Does anyone have an answer for it? :smartass:

Ah, the blessing of information. The best way to clear up, I think that... I believe that... my dad told me that... Thanks for your ever-presently-doubt-solving post, Olgerd. :smartass::smartass::smartass: +1 REP on the way... .

You should also be able to visualize the beam and not only the spot glowing off the objects it hits. Seems like a bug.

This exact same thing has happened to me a few times while flying Black Shark 1. Last time it happened was in that mission from Dragon's MP pack in which one must first destroy the 4 HAWK sites to the east. Turned the laser on, selected the weapon, locked the target up, waited until the count down reached zero and fired. Baam! Vihkr flew straight into the ground. Locked it up again and Baam. Right into the ground again. Then I recaged the Shkval, turned laser off, and did the whole process from the start. Worked flawlessly for the remainder of the mission. I has already happened a whole bunch of times. Never have I been able to replicate it, but it does happen from time to time. :smartass:
-
Mine does the same thing, but I also had this problem with Black Shark 1. After laser-ranging, all I had to do to lose correct distance measuring was to move the Shkval gate around a bit. I guess the maximum range it shows is 15km, and once I moved as far as 15km and slewed it closer to the helicopter its measuring went completely bananas. I don't know how the real thing works, but it seems it's not entirely coupled with the Black Shark INS, since it loses distance estimation way to easily. There is elevation data in the ABRIS, but then again, the PVI and ABRIS are two fully independent systems, so it seems the range estimation as we move it around is more like a "guesstimation" from the system than actual INS-derived information. Maybe some of the developers that have actual documentation in its functionality could shed some light into our doubts. :smartass:

BS2: New Shkval POV shrinks everything and cuts part of the TV Screen
dok_rp replied to dok_rp's topic in Bugs and Problems
I got a response from their Russian tech support. >>This is the message I've sent: >>This is the response I got: The bug has been acknowledged and it might be fixed, however, not even they know when. Now, let's just hope and see. :smartass: -
This effect was inserted when Flaming Cliffs 1.2 came out a looong time ago. The first planes from the franchise to exhibit is were the Su25 and Su25T.

But that's not the sound of the Speed break per se, but actually the sound the turbulent air is producing when the SB is deployed.

Warthog and Ka50 in same mission; how to switch planes
dok_rp replied to Galwran's topic in Multiplayer
You can have both simulators open, but if you use TrackIR, it'll only work with the first executable it detected.
