Brothers of MS FFB... this is gonna be painful....
martinistripes replied to bostar's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I will fly the Hind while the systems and polish are added to this module which will take a year or two (see F-18). By the time that's done, Virpil will understand the need for a ffb base. They will have also made an AH-64 replica collective. Maybe then the MS FFB2 can finally retire. -
not planned Different version of engine exhaust IR deflector

It's not a fashion show! Look at the Mi-28, THEN you will know ugly. -
TAKE MY MONEY!

The FINAL sneak peak is up!

Any official word on if we'll be able to fly without the FCR mounted?

My experience with force feedback in DCS
martinistripes replied to Braeden108's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I just wish someone would make a new one! -
No, I wasn't... I've just checked my Saved Games\DCS folder. Can't find the .lua that controls the logbook though.

Not sure who moved this topic, but it's not a bug; just a suggestion for improvement.

I've recently been trying to play through the Su-25 campaign Cold War Warrior, trying to get as far as I can without being KIA. So, I set the pilot in my logbook to vulnerable (ie. he can be killed). The idea being to follow the pilots stats with progress and just create a new pilot each time I'm killed in the campaign. Recently, I made it through to mission 3 (furthest I've been). In between attempts at mission 3, I had a casual practice in the new Hind module and got myself killed by VRS. It was when I next tried to return to my Su-25 campaign, I realised I'd lost all progress because I'd unwittingly flown the Hind with the same pilot, and got him killed. Back to Mission 1. Suggested fixes: 1) Display a small box on the main menu somewhere that shows which pilot you're using. and/or 2) When you create a pilot, you can use tick boxes to select which aircraft he's able to fly.

Ref your point 4), they've set a new benchmark for damage modelling with the WWII stuff. The Hind should get the same treatment eventually. Lets face it, this module isn't going to fade into obscurity. It will just keep getting better, especially as infantry units are improved. So they need to get this damage model working well. I would expect a good few years from now, there will be a Hind 2 upgrade, as we've seen with the Ka-50 and A-10.

I've not enjoyed this particular helicopter in a sim since I was 16, maybe 17. I'm 42 now. Amazing module already, and it's not even finished!

Model/Texture Refreshes Needed
martinistripes replied to martinistripes's topic in Flaming Cliffs Bugs & Problems
Is this open beta? I'm on stable and my UB32 pods look terrible. -
The UB32 Rocket pods for S5 look like they've not been touched since original Flaming Cliffs. Also, the external tanks on the Su-25 are in need of a refresh.

They're saving that for BS4

Exactly this. I will gladly pay for an upgrade just for an updated model, textures and perhaps some additional cockpit functionality and bug fixes, only if I can disable the additional capabilities (3 pylons and MWS). This could work in the same way that you remove the pylons and additional armour for the Mi-8 module. Or it could be in the modules 'special options' tab. Ideally, I'd like to fly a Ka-50 as it was used in Chechnya without additional bells and whistles. And I'd like to see Eagle Dynamics most polished and accurate work on it.

In short, there are many purist hardcore simmers that use DCS. They respect DCS for it's realism and authenticity. When you begin to add fantasy loadouts or hardware, it 'sours the broth' for them. Especially if they play multiplayer and the fantasy equipment starts to appear on servers (and it will). On the plus side, we can always play offline in a realistic manner and, we can create or search for realistic online servers that exclude certain units or loadouts.
-
For those that enjoy realism, it won't be cool to get shot down by a six pylon Ka-50 in multiplayer. I'll skip this one. Would sure like the upgraded cockpit, external model and MWS though.
-
Haven't tried rebinding it yet, but myself and a friend couldn't enter LSO view with LAlt-F9 on the Kuznetsov. We were in multiplayer. He had been shot down, I was still in an Su-33. We're running the newer ship. Strange thing is, I've entered that view previously on a replay maybe a year or so ago, so I know it works. But currently, it isn't.

Will there be an early access discount also?
martinistripes replied to martinistripes's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
Wow... I've been holding on to a 70% discount coupon for years (since the Mi-8 release). Always said I'd keep it to buy the Hind. Can't use the coupon if the product is already discounted though. Ok, thanks for the reply. -
Or will it go straight to full price, like the F-16?

This! I was just trying to build a realistic 1 on 1 in 1985, Tomcat vs Fulcrum. I'm having to search the internet to find which versions of which missile were available in that particular year. Hope you can do it. Could even have separate toggle button in the ME. 'Historical Weapons' on/off.

I can fly the Mi-8 pretty well, however I find the rudder input is overly sensitive. It seems like if I push the left or right pedal forward just a cm the helicopter will violently yaw. Is this normal? Maybe the real helicopter has longer travel on the pedal and this is the issue. I recently convinced a friend to buy this module and he has the same issue.

Got to say, I'm excited for this. Last time I saw the A-6 in a sim was Spectrum Holobyte's Flight of the Intruder -still got the ring bound manual for it. 30 years later...
