  1. Wags mentioned they were still working out the copy protection system and that it could be out this week or the end of the month. Yay Starforce!
  2. A force centre position trim option, a rudder trim option and some kind of voice acknowledgement for when auto hover is engaged would be perfect.
  3. Really? seems I have a problem somewhere then. I was mainly referring to when I slow down and get to hover anyway, that's what kills my wrist lol. That's just my wish anyhow, an optional trim and trim recenter system just like the other helos, might not be the most realistic but if you don't have pedals and ffb... it's the best option.
  4. You gotta Hold the button WHILE winding your mouse wheel to calibrate it.
  5. I really miss the rudder trim while we're at it, I'm not a pedal guy so it's a wrist saver :)
  6. I'm after the same thing, I use Center Position Trimmer options in the special tabs of the of helos to avoid the "hump" or "Double Input" effect. Definitely need that here with the Gazelle being so damn twitchy :( Non-FFB user here btw.
  7. Barely a probably after wag's post. It didn't seem very optimistic.
  8. I really doubt semantics are the issue for people.
  9. You must have a kagillion spare modules by now. I wasn't making fun of you either, just amazed somebody's turned dcs into a kind of subscription model lol.
  10. Once a month? Has to be joke but you sound serious :S
  11. It's great is why.
  12. Expanding a userbase is not begging, nice critique there.
  13. Sad news about the price hike, lots of guys were hoping for a future sale. It is pretty expensive for a map.
  14. Whaaaa? Is it possible I could make a next/prev binding for the Mig-21's weapon rotary by doing this?
  15. I also had some clipping until I turned the axis limits on in the TIR software. All good now if you haven't done so, you might wanna try it.

In a sim where a p-51 can (and does often) go toe to toe with mig-21's, modern anti-air and su-27's, I'd say module inter-operation has already gone out the window. Remember one day we'll have a spitfire and an f-14 coexisting somehow, why bother trying to get a square peg through a round hole. Let everything be as it should be, if people don't want a certain aircraft's certain ECM or 'system X' conflicting with anything else, don't allow it on the server. Keeps the purists happy, should keep everyone happy.
  17. That was my assumption, then I was confused. lmao, oh well, bug reported for posterity. I'll enjoy tthis one while it lasts.
  18. I'll make this quick... While using the 530D's I cannot select close air combat mode (default binding: V). If I select close air mode elsewhere, in MAG for example and switch back to the 530D's then close air mode is still present and works as expected until I cancel the close air mode. At which point I can't go back to close air mode without first changing to another weapon like the Magic II, going to close air mode (hitting V) and going back to the 530Ds. Is this a bug? Haven't seen a thread for it yet...
  19. Star Citizen may not be the absolute best example, though I agree. Steam having a monopoly is a good reason for concern, but until a company with enough credibility and foresight come up with an alternative... Ubisoft and EA have tried and haven't come close due to their prices being 'less than competitive'. So for now it's Steam and GOG for everything else really :/ Waiting an extra two weeks for an update or module on Steam? Well that's down to ED's priorities I guess. They could release the Mirage for example tomorrow if they wanted to, but they don't and it's their call for whatever reason. Plus as the guy below says, then there's Starforce to think about... Anyway, not trying to argue. It's been an interesting debate, like I said, I'd be all for a bigger push to Steam but it seems like ED has their hands full managing their own storefront (no insult intended) and the very being present on Steam is one more thing to do in a currently very busy up-in-the-air (pun intended) schedule. The gamification worries I've seen around even here a few times. Some people worry about the Steam population as a whole, it is well known for it's trolling, hacking/cheating and toxic communities and I can't argue there (csgo player here lol) Oh well, would love to see DCS get as much release love as the storefront, probably won't see it, I can deal with that :) As long as the ED gears keep turning in some way I'm happy enough. And those gears have been turning well lately.

It's all good, I wasn't being rude lol. I completely understand where you were coming from, even if you got lost. There's 2 good study sims out there, I'd also hate to see one compromise for accessibility.
  21. Ah yes, that is true, as it stands the Steam sales ED has do strike a different demographic. But I've said before, a lot of companies (all other companies in this situation??) manage to transfer there own storefront purchases to Steam keys without any trouble at all. This is a big deal ED could look into, I'd love to buy from ED directly and still transfer the keys to Steam, they did key transfers before and that's how I ended up using DCS on Steam. And for the added layer of code and mess, steam updates usually hit at the same time as the standalone, at the latest it's a couple of hours later. Developers manage so how bad can it be? As for independence, well, any company can cut and run from Steam should it get really bad in the years to come, nobody's holding a gun to their heads to use it, it's just a smart distribution platform with benefits. The NTTR download problem was pretty bad (and every other major release), wouldn't have happened on Steam leaving the customers happy and complaint free and that's hard to argue against. But that's my 5 cents on the topic anyway, business is complicated and what seems like an easy fix to me doesn't make it a fact. Especially in a community with many people distrustful of Steam or worry about the 'gameification' of DCS that it could lead to. Meh.

Realism has it's limits. I think pinching classified information to make a flight sim more realistic is treason yeah? You just make do with what you can get and what you can guess, between this and F4 you can't get much more realism as a civilian at home on your pc.
  23. I think you're mistaken there. The Developers and publishers have veto over whether their products participate in those sales, and to what degree they are discounted. If DCS modules are on sale on Steam it's because ED makes it happen, not Steam. And I'm all for ED switching to Steam if they ever would. Better hosting, better download speeds, quota free downloading on a lot of ISP's, an update/repair system that doesn't require command prompt, I could go on and on...

I'll throw my WAGuess in lol A spring loaded switch on the throttle would make sense to temporarily prioritize the radar over the ECM for taking a quick peek at the current situation. Would make a lot of sense actually.
  25. Hmmm, I should donate these somewhere a bit more useful to newcomers but.... https://www.dropbox.com/s/0j2z8f3ki79n8mk/ody81s%20magical%20x52%20profile%20tour.rar?dl=0 Here's my x52 profiles for all modern DCS modules and FC3 including a WIP M-2000C profile and a profile and key file for Falcon BMS 4.33. All the profiles are painstakingly and anally crafted so as to give the best possible 'standard' for common and similar controls. You'll have to change the view reset button to whatever keys you use for TrackIR centering then you're good to go. You'll never have to touch your keyboard outside of radios and hitting escape, 2 modifiers used (pinkie and Fire D) to jam in the goodness :O And here's and old no TrackIR version (no M-2000C). https://www.dropbox.com/s/j7av6ev8dfj9r1r/ody81s%20magical%20x52%20profile%20tour%20NO%20TIR.rar?dl=0 These would be great for the overwhelmed newcomers, I just have no idea where to post them (apart from here). If someone tells me where to do this, and if enough people like them I'll keep them updated.
