  1. He'll still see you, he has look down/shoot down like all modern A2A radars.
  2. Watching your video, a lot of the shots including the mirage one are point blank bursts where you get so many shots on target in one place the target can't help but be damaged. Those are the only kills I've ever been able to get in the mirage, 'fly up his ass and fire 50 rounds into his engine' sort of kills that use the fixed bore cross as much as the gunsnake. Try some medium range tracking shots using the pipper and I think you'll soon see the low damage of the DEFA. A 30mm like that should total an aircraft from just a handful of hits punching football sized holes in the target.
  3. In the video on the left there were 17 hits.
  4. I'm pretty sure that's not the case, considering every other gun in the game performs better. Even the piddly GSh-23.
  5. Appreciated, this post caught my attention for sure. I don't agree that a difference in the amount of propellant makes a huge difference to the stopping power of these A2A cannon rounds, they should still be punching plate-sized holes in the target. As for the underwhelming AI damage model, that doesn't excuse this behavior either. I even included the comparison shot with the Su-27 specifically to point out this wasn't an example of the MiG-15 being un-naturally durable in tanking 17 DEFA 554 hits.
  6. Whilst I am of course aware that not all 30mms were created equal, surely I cannot be the only one that thinks the DEFA 554 is particularly anemic. See the following example from a similar range against an identical target compared with the GSh-30-1. [ame=https://a.pomf.cat/ecaxgw.webm]M2K[/ame] vs [ame=https://a.pomf.cat/nlsqod.webm]Su27[/ame] Anyone care to comment?

    4 Magic's

What is it with people linking pictures of different variants of an aircraft thinking they mean anything? It happens in more or less every thread on a upcoming module. Are they incapable of reading even the most basic summary of the planes capabilities?

    4 Magic's

    Yeah but sadly they can't.
  9. Your radar being on or off makes NO difference to how easily other planes pick you up on radar. But if your radar is on and you are pointing toward an aircraft he WILL see you on his RWR the vast majority of the time unless he is at extreme range. If your radar is off he WILL NOT see you on his RWR under any circumstances.
  10. The warthog throttle has its own usb port, though why you would use the WH throttle standalone I have no idea. It's very overrated imo.

    DCS: F-5E!

    ewwww
  12. The RAF doesn't operate the Apache though.
  13. One day I'll make a .gif version that flashes. One day...

    Mirage F1

Not a hope in hell of that, it's just as much of an attacker as a fighter. It was also designed in the 60s when the aerospace industry was feeling the need, the need... for speed. If I had to compare it kinematically to another jet in DCS it would probably be the MiG-21.

    Two questions

On the topic of ARMAT, if Razbam know how ARMAT is fired on other SEAD capable Mirages and can port that procedure over to the 2000 I say go for it. But if they've no idea and would just be making up HUD symbology etc then I don't think anyone really wants that...
  16. I've jammed it with excessive maneuvering before, like everything in that plane it hates 0G.
  17. It doesn't, CCIP still works in a dive last time I checked no matter the ASP option setting.

    DCS: F-5E!

Here's one for you, does anyone know what sort of look-down capability the AN/APQ-159 has? And if BST will be modeling the ground clutter that we see in the manual?
  19. I agree, modelling the most iconic variants of aircraft makes the most sense to me. I'd rather see aircraft in their most operated configurations fighting era appropriate foes than obscure amraam capable models that would be annihilated by kinematicly superior 4th gen fighters. If you know what I mean. Though of course I'd rather see a Draken to fight the 21 and F5 than a JA37 just now.
  20. It is certainly my hope that ED looks at the issues the visibility system has. Just about all of these features you mentioned are absolutely necessary for the visibility system to command the confidence of the community. Something it really doesn't at the moment. Great work.
  21. Afaik you can punch in coordinates into the INU mid flight to target the BK90. There were some posts about it earlier in this thread.
  22. Afaik, exactly that.
  23. I think we'll be fine, it's tangentially related anyway, but back to the topic at hand... Since LN will be modeling the Swedish designation of the AIM-9L, I do hope we see this missile added to all the other western jets that carried it too.
  24. If you're loading the MiG up with the full 6 missiles, you're doing it wrong. An F-5 should have no trouble with anything but the most lightly loaded of Fishbeds in a turn fight.

    DCS: F-5E!

Well if it doesn't have the controls in the cockpit, I don't see how it could happen. Not that I wouldn't like bullpups, but only if it could fire them.
