  1. To be honest chaps, I don't think this was a surprise for anyone who'd been following the hints that have been dripping through since August. But yes, I too am excited for a DCS level supersonic dedicated A2G platform.

    Chaff bug

I have also observed this, I'm only able to dispense chaff if I also dispense flares at the same time. Previously all chaff loadouts could be taken and functioned normally, this is no longer the case.
  3. Since in multiplayer missions there is obviously no access to the mission planner. Do you have any way to generate briefing images (whether they be in game or exported to a folder on the host's computer) detailing the flight plan by exporting the coordinates of mission waypoints MBot?

    DCS: F-5E!

The F-5E does not have a HUD afaik, you can see details of the gunsight on page 60 & 63. edit: I just realised I basically repeated what kev said, oh well :P

    DCS: F-5E!

    It's a radar gunsight.

    DCS: F-5E!

Thank you for the clarification, maybe the MiG-21 stands a chance after all. :P

    DCS: F-5E!

Can't the F-5E also use it's radar to que the seeker heads on it's sidewinders?

    DCS: F-5E!

See that's the thing, what model of RWR will be modeled? BST say they're doing quite a late version of the E, I wouldn't be surprised if we got something like an AN/ALR-69.

    DCS: F-5E!

I wouldn't worry too much, the F-5E has a lot of advantages on it's side. Superb maneuverability and the ability to carry missiles with little negative impact on that maneuverability are huge advantages. The MiG-21 may be able to carry more missiles but with the full 6 loaded it flies like a bus! As for the R-3R, it is definitely in the time frame of these two jets, but given the F-5E's good RWR and the R-3's terrible turn rate I'm not too worried. In the merge another boon for the Tiger II is that it actually has a decent gun-sight intended for dogfighting rather than shooting down bombers. If you've flown the '21 you'll know how crap that things sight is, it seems most people just use the fixed net.

    DCS: F-5E!

I know I'm certainly hoping for a variety of both fictional liveries and F-5A liveries translated to the E. CF-5 Soviet colours MiG-28...
  11. You mean just like the Su-25T?
  12. You realise the DCS: A-10C facebook page is a fan page right?
  13. Hahaha, if only aerial combat was this simple. There are no magic moves that will put you on the tail of the enemy. As for engine flameout, be careful not to exceed 1300kph IAS and try not to dip into zero or negative G for too long during maneuvers. Also, though the MiG-21 has a lot of thrust going into the vertical is not always the best move, especially against an F-4.

    Hahaha, you got me.

    DCS: F-5E!

Nah, if you actually read the manual it contains details of the function of both the AN/APQ-153 and the AN/APQ-159-4, which radar was shipped with the plane and the inclusion of any RWR or not was up to the customer afaik.
  16. Wow, those seem sensible compared to mine. My ground units look like Ace Combat superweapons from 60km away on 2560x1080.
  17. I was a huge fan of the previous model visibility settings, especially for ground vehicles. But now even the smallest targets are visible from an insane range. The new aircraft settings are not so bad but I'm having serious issues with far away planes appearing larger than close ones. I'm playing on 2560x1080 for reference.

    DCS: F-5E!

Yeah Kev2go, I was just about to post that. Can we stop all this AIM-120 nonsense now?

    DCS: F-5E!

Read that on Wikipedia did you?
  20. You mean the human eye is only 1920x1080 pixels? I never knew...
  21. One could always limit the armament to period specific ordnance and the have Hogs suffer failures of all modern equipment on takeoff (TAD, MWS, wtc), similar failures could disable the Black Sharks AMMS.
  22. +1 To reducing the size of ground vehicles, I thought the old enlarged setting for ground vehicles was absolutely perfect. Now the impostors are so large they clip into one another. With regard to the current air impostor sizes, Whilst the extra visibility if great, a more gentle scaling with range is definitely needed. At the moment it seems that aircraft seem huge at any range, even around 100km away!

    DCS: F-5E!

If the current F-5E in DCS had not just been updated with a new model and new loadout options it would be a foolish conclusion to draw yes, but that is not the case. If there was already an ugly LOMAC era M2000C in the game and it's model and weapon options had just been updated in the 1.5 beta patch then I would be saying the same for that aircraft, but there isn't and it hasn't so I'm not. My logic is that ED have completely revamped an aircraft's loadout options just a few months (quarters?) before the release of a DCS level module of that very airframe. It is not unreasonable to assume that this is no coincidence and that the new weapon options (which include new models no less!) are as a direct result of BST's research for DCS:F-5E.

    DCS: F-5E!

Guys the version BST are making is already in game, likely with all the weapons it will get. It wasn't just the model that changed in 1.5. The loadout options also changed to a more realistic selection that includes a wider variety of dumb munitions, GBU-12s and the ability to carry only 2 AIM-9s.
