Care to link to a reputable source? Wikipedia conflates modern F-5 variants with the E and thus gets it wildly wrong. Every source and manual I've ever read on the '70s F-5E indicates 2 wingtip sidewinders.

A multiplayer compatible dynamic campaign system would improve the replayability and player enjoyment of all modules and give DCS multiplayer the shot in the arm it needs to really take off. Many of the other options are neat features but don't have the same huge potential as dynamic campaign functionality to completely reshape the way people play DCS for the better. After all, why do people still play BMS?

It would make a great candidate for a fictional US MiG-21 skin that's for sure. pls LN

Well that's not very surprising, trying to turn fight the Flanker in the F-15C is never going to work out against a competent opponent. There's no easy trick to defeat him, he will eventually get behind you and stay there. Your main option is to just to not play his game, the Eagle bleeds speed in the turn like a mother in 1.5 so don't get bogged down in a dogfight with him. Try to use your superior thrust and climb rate to stay fast and extend for a missile shot.

"We're running a bit of a delay due to an unexpected high volume of work with the MiG-21 and several features on upcoming modules that, in their complexity and novelty, have been difficult to complete. It's looking good for November."

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Custard replied to Milene's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Well... yes, the MiG-29S is a flyable aircraft. Of course they're not, but nor are tonnes of the systems in DCS, especially the ones that are abstracted in the Flaming Cliffs aircraft. This doesn't stop their function being reasonably simulated in DCS. -
'Slightly upgraded' doesn't even begin to describe the difference between Flaming Cliffs & a DCS level study sim to me, but each to his own.

You do realize the R-77 is already in the game? The MiG-29S can carry them. -
Yes, it would be a nice feature to have, but I haven't much more to add to the thread than that I'm afraid.

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

The MiG-23-98 has never entered service. As for the radar scope, I know previous versions of the MiG-23 used a HUD only display, but the -98 featured at least 1 MFD in it's brand new cockpit and so a heads down display would logically feature. MLD, pls. I'm not sure I can handle any more of the SPO-10. -
Yes but so are these, note the lack of any sophisticated RWR on the earlier models (the ones that fought the MiG-21 and that the Soviets acquired an example of). It'll be very interesting which exact variant BST develop, the external model in 1.5 at the moment has an RWR on the cockpit texture but it looks like it's just a picture pulled straight from the internet so I don't think we can draw any conclusions from that. A modern picture: The aircraft the Russians got their hands on:
-
Since it's loadout changed in the move from 1.2.16 to 1.5 beta I imagine the weapons it can carry in DCS now will be the weapons in the BST module; unguided bombs, rockets & the GBU-12.
-
The GPU-5/A? I doubt it, since it can't be fitted to the F-5E without modifications.
-
With true HDR making a comeback in 1.5, is there any chance we will see the helmet visor in the MiG-21 serving a practical purpose and reducing glare from the sun?
-
Did you .lua edit those extra wing pylon AIM-9s on? I don't have the option to mount A2A missiles on anything but the wingtip pylons.
-
As per the title, I have observed AI F-15Cs & Su-27s (on excellent difficulty) only dropping about 2 flares per second in response to an incoming AIM-9M or R-73, even at long range. With the 1.5 (reworked I gather?) IR seeker logic this is in my experience an insufficient number of countermeasures to even come close to spoofing an enemy missile. Example insufficient rate: http://gfycat.com/FondObedientIbisbill
-
I imagine it just uses the Maverick's seeker (if that's the right word)
-
Like I said in my post earlier, some of the radar variants had limited functionality as an MFD. IMO the real question is what RWR DCS: F-5E would feature, the image featured above shows a rather recent modernised system. As far as I know 1972 tigers looked more like this: http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Air/Northrop-F-5E-Tiger/1336346/L/
-
IIRC the F-5Es that could carry mavs had a variant of the radar display could also be used to target Mavericks.

That's A very generous gesture. -
Late Floggers have the Beryoza as their RWR. But as to opponents for the 21 & 23, I always saw them as enemies for possible F-5 & F-4 modules respectively. If you want a Russian plane to take on the F/A-18 it would have to be a full fidelity MiG-29M or K
-
I must be the only one who thinks the F-5E is a more appropriate BLUFOR adversary for the MiG-21Bis than the F-4E.
-
Humm... idk, it really depends on the variant. To me, anti-ship/cruise missiles, stand-off cluster bombs and mavericks on a supersonic platform are quite interesting.

The <51> serve cycles missions afaik, sometimes it runs the 1965 mission, sometimes the Sabres v Fagots mission.
