The lighting and self shadowing look fantastic. They look almost like rendered images. -

Joystick Spring Removal and Modding
therion_prime replied to walker450's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Looking good, the wood could use a bit of black paint tho ;) but I guess it's more like a prototype, isn't it? I really love my DIY stick - an elongated cougar grip with DIY gimbals and hall sensors from a X52 - which is non self centering, too. No need to trim anymore ! .... except rudder trim of course, but why not apply dampeners to the pedals too and remove the centering spring ? Damn... my GF will kill me if I spend even more time "screwing around" ;) -

I believe it's just to hold the stick in place when not in use. -

Don't Walk...Run Away from the G940

I happily reverted back to my X52. The 940 is ... uhm ... how shall I put it .... teh suk! : Faults: - Ministick not working correctly -> unusable! - Throttle resolution not fine enough (inc-/decreasing in 2-3% steps) - FFB deadzone / sloppyness -> IMHO that is the drivers/firmwares fault and NOT the fault of the game programmers, as stated by Logitek! - Pedals get "sticky" - Rotaries start spiking Other inconveniences: - Too few coolie hats - Pedals have too little travel - Trimwheels on the stick and not on throttle - Trimwheels have no detents - Programming software could be ways better (Foxy someone?) - Where has the good support in the forums gone? - WHERE THE HELL HAS LOGITEK_MARK VANISHED TO? -> Yes, run forrest run! Run away from the 940! A very disappointed customer. -

I use two HPI Savage (RC car) dampers, but replaced the oil inside with a thicker one - sorry, I can't remember which one. -

ND Art & Technology MBB/Kawasaki BK 117 simulator

Isn't she a beauty ? :D I believe Innsbruck became quite "famous" among flight simmers because of the training mission in FSX where you had to do an approach in bad weather. -

therion_prime replied to Shaman's topic in Chit-Chat
Haha - the city/airport in the video and on most screenshots is my hometown Innsbruck in Austria :D -
I cannot say that WoP's flightmodel is different to IL2. And I played IL2 a LOT. Even the radiator and mixture are mappable to an axis which IL2 did not have. Try to swith off auto-proppitch in a 109 and increase RPMs over 3000 and the engine will die. Not even FSX has this much fidelity! And, btw. most youtube videos are arcade mode. So stop bashing WoP please.

I still think Kamov got the AP wrong
therion_prime replied to My Fing ID's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
While I can understand this system is adequate for most helicopters, it's tedious in the Ka-50 (being the only single seat attack helicopter). Everything else is built to ease the workload of the pilot, but during every slight attitude change he has to hold down a button? Come on! It has a complex autopilot that can follow waypoints and can auto hover while I can have the feet on the dashboard and sip on a Pina Colada, but requires my input for the simplest of things. I just don't get it. Maybe this was the reason the Ka-50 project was stopped. :D -
I still think Kamov got the AP wrong
therion_prime replied to My Fing ID's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
In missions without long straight lines between waypoints, I often find myself holding down the trim button during almost the whole mission (exception: hover, straight flight). Try and fly through a narrow valley where you have to manouver constantly, you simply have to hold down the trim button most of the time. I don't quite get this. Why would kamov build such a thing where the pilot has to press a button while manouvering? I simply could hold the trim button down with a piece of tape ..... -

The man who designed the X52 also designed the G940 so it's not really their first HOTAS.

*drool* looks nice
-
What I don't understand is: If a single Vikhr cannot destroy an Abrams, why would a second one ..... except it hits EXACTLY the same spot as the first one. Very unlikely. Do the tanks in game have a "healthbar" ?

Right side behind the pilot.

I just tested it and it seems it has to do with something that needs generator power. When making hard manuevers (i.e. hard turns) the engine RPM go in the cellar and the generators fail to deliver power for a short amount of time. Skhval goes dark and "Watch Ekran" message is played - and the speed indication on the hud goes AWOL. So INU is ruled out, as it can run on battery. Correct?
-
Hmm... that doesn't quite make sense for me because 1) This also happens when you are flying above 50km/h 2) The speed-bar thingie left in HUD is always working, so why not display this value on the top left too? 3) The Skhval also displays speed 4) The analog gauge also displays speed 5) I fail to see what INU has to do with speed mesurement? (Maybe someon can enlighten me)
