  1. uhm ruprecht, pushing or pulling a completely unrealistic fighter-style throttle is either way unrealistic. I don't understand why you're that obsessed in having to pull the throttle that is moving vertically (yes -> unrealistic) and implying that it's arcade mode. :shocking: I didn't invert mine as I'm used to push for power.
  2. I got the rank "Captain" at exactly 30 flight hours after a free flight mission without any kills.
  3. I believe the ranks are awarded for flight time. I was promoted captain after exactly 30 hours.
  4. In RL yes, in BS no. 7-1-8 only works so good because the enemy always starts shooting at you at max range. At closer ranges you'd need to dump flares in much higher quantities.
  5. 7-1-8 (both dispensers enabled) for teh win!
  6. CM Program 7-1-8 with both dispensers enabled. Got hit only once, and there were LOTS of IR-Sams launched at me until now :music_whistling: Yesterday I was not careful again  and had to fight two Strelas who were both firing at me non stop - and I was in a hover. 7-1-8 to the rescue! You could actually see the missiles got distracted as soon as they were launched and all of them dropped too low.
  7. Agreed! I also requested the same thing in the wish list thread a few days ago.
  8. A more diverse visual damage model for ground vehicles. Somtimes, vehicles should explode like it is now, sometimes they should just burn or just smoke. And sometimes you shouldn't even see that it's dead already.
  9. They said that they are working on a better ground AI, so let's hope it's in the patch.
  10. While I do not disagree with you, I feel "dampening" IS "hindering". Just try to turn off heading hold and step into the pedal - The Ka-50 is MUCH more agile that way. I only turn on heading hold for hovering, "Route mode" and "turn to target" (and YES I'm aware that in RL you do NOT turn it off). Pitch- and bank hold are nice to have engaged all the time, tho. Just my opinion.
  11. If you turn off the heading dampener and FD, you can turn on a dime.
  12. It works amazingly well. The microswich is inside the fingertip.
  13. Awesome, thanks!
  14. Sorry, I didn't want to start an argument here, as I said "I applaud SDeath's checklist". I'm no LWINN-HOME guy. I too switch on the anti collision beacon and wingtip lights (old habit from F4 :-) prior to starting up the engines to warn the "ground personel" *cough* to stay away from the plane. Yeah, It's all about immersion. I just stated that it doesn't matter in which order you have to press most switches. I'm a friend of immersion and an enemy to checklists. In driving school we learned that we had to make a walk around the car to check if the tires have enough pressure and everything is O.K. before every drive. Who does that in RL? As Alpha said - to each his own. Happy flying ..... or control hovering or whatever! :D
  15. Come on, you know exactly what I mean AlphaOneSix. Keeping exactly to reallife checklists in a sim adds to immersion, no doubt. But in a sim my "life" doesn't depend on checklists. Honestly, who here performs a control hover prior to takeoff? ;)
  16. Well, if it works it works. And if it works faster then in real life then it works better. And if it works in the sim and not in RL, then it's a bad sim. Easy as pie.
  17. I managed to squeeze a switch (from a dead X52), a IR-LED and a "button battery" into the cutoff fingertip of an old leather glove. Thanks to JonK for making me aware of this technology. (I was about to order a 17" touchscreen - you saved me a LOT of money!) It works great and I have to say that it's the most important addition to my flightsim hardware since I bought my firstTrackIR a few years ago!
  18. The Nav-lights switch is on the overhead panel, the formation-lights switch is on the right wall panel. And yes, they are different lights.
  19. While I applaud to your checklist SDeath, I have to add that it's completely irrelevant in which order you turn on/off the switches with only a few exceptions.
  20. You can turn on the fuel cutoff levers as soon as you press the start button. No need to wait until 18% RPM
  21. I often use 7-1-8 if in unsecure areas.
  22. Hmm, I mostly fly with trottles set to MAX :music_whistling: Could this be the cause (generator wear or something)?
  23. Bummer. It would be very immersive if you could recieve some generic chatter from ground forces, nothing fancy.
  24. Mugatu is right. From the manual: -> VHF-1 -> The R-828 VHF radio is used for communication with a Forward Air Controller (FAC) and other ground force units. Is this implemented ???? The intercom source selector dial for the SPU-9 has four settings: [/ + LALT + LCTRL] "(СА)УКВ-2" (VHF-2) – Selects the VHF-2 R-800L1 radio. "УКВ-1" (VHF-1) – Selects the VHF-1 R-828 radio for communications with ground units. "КВ" (SW) – Short waves band. Not used. "НОП" (Ground crew intercom) – used to communicate with ground crew through the wired telephone. When rearming or refueling at an airfield or FARP, you will need to select this setting to communicate with the ground crew unless the cockpit door is open and the rotors are not turning.
  25. *scratches head* I guess you're right. VHF-1 is the second from the left choice on the turn switch and not the rightmost. I believe the manual states that VHF-1 is used to communicate with ground forces -> not implemented ?
