Sorry all this fell apart as it did, Alpine! I am very glad that the situation is almost under control. Been missing the server.

Thank you! Very helpful indeed!

Wouldn't be too hard to do a Mig-17, would it?

I'd buy a 17 so fast! -
Should be picking up the 15 very soon, and although I'd love to join up with a 15 crew I'm already involved in a couple other squads. However, I know some folks who might be interested in jumping in the 15 for a sortie from time to time. Is there a good night of the week for Korea jets?!

Can someone tell me how to properly embed videos here. Whenever I try they show up, but when clicked on they show as an error. Cheers! -Shadepiece

Hey guys, here is a new video I did of a couple sorties in the MiG-21 recently! Also, I did a tacview analysis at the end, let me know what you think. Cheers! -Shadepiece

Sounds excellent! Great work, and a long time coming!

Oh Wow!! I'll definitely have to check this out!

Hey gents, I'd just like to drop a couple videos here, because I feel like they could be appreciated. Here is a quick one from the MiG-21 bis from the other night. I also, made a pretty cool guncam video that I think you can appreciate. It's a sort of montage from a few kills in IL-2 while flying a 109 G-2. Would be great if you guys could comment or leave a like on it, and let me know what you think. Edit: Embed might not be working so here are the raw links. Cheers! -Shadepiece

Hey guys, This is a write up that I sent Virpil in a support ticket, but I thought maybe someone could shed a bit of light on this issue. Basically, The X-axis range sensor on my Mongoose T-50 base keeps drifting left. Up until now I have tried everything that I could possibly think to resolve this issue. I have reloaded the firmware multiple times, and today I deleted all the firmware and configuration that I had as it was a previous version and downloaded the latest one from the website. I started by factory resetting the stick, and then freshly loading the profile. I followed the guide on how to do it to a T, and yet I still cannot seem to keep the roll axis centered. Essentially, the X-Axis moves it's center to the left every time full deflection to the right is applied. So after the center was just applied I can move the stick the full range i.e. left to 0% and fully right to 100% however once I try to recenter the stick it will show a value of 49%. Now if I apply full deflection to the right it will only go to 98-99%, and upon centering will only show 47-48%. This will occur in an increasingly severe fashion until at the extreme the center rests at 3-4% while full deflection to the right will only obtain a value of 58%. Obviously, this means every time in a sim I apply right aileron my center gets further and further left requiring me to physically hold the stick to the right, and eventually not allowing me to apply full deflection to the right in the sim. For the record, I have opened the base to apply the heavy springs and to ensure all hardware components were seated properly, and as far as I could tell they all were. I am absolutely stumped as I can see no reason that after multiple factory resets, actual disassembly to check hardware, and multiple firmware and profile resets that this issue continues to persist. The only thing I can think of is a faulty sensor or some other failure I do not have the expertise to diagnose. This issue is very severe and I am unable to play my sims with the stick in this state. I need some technical support ASAP. Anyone ever heard of something like this? Cheers! -Shadepiece

I would think left hand patterns would be more natural given that's how you would pattern at a runway usually. I think I have a tendency to turn left when given the option.

I didn't mean I've heard that in this thread, and frankly it was probably just a misunderstanding on my part anyhow. I was asking about all the WWII birds so good to see the German and US charts there.
-
Awesome charts!! Thr Mustang Convergence isn't nearly as bad as I thought according to this. If they followed that chart, then the horizontal convergence is at 333-400 yards with the pattern, and that's not the 800+ YARDS I think I've heard thrown around. Strange feeling not having the guns all set to a single point, but I think I can see the advantage. For the US and their .50's they must've figured just getting rounds on the the target would be enough for a kill. I'm still curious as to what exactly the thought process was though. Simplified Flight Model for the AI is somewhat of a shame since it feels as though they can ride the edge of the stall a lot more effectively than you can. Also, the higher AI always make the most perfect guns solution even at 600+ yards where a player would likely not even fire. I do like the AI though because, even though they are doing some questionable things at times they are far more believable than AI in other games. The flight model is definitely much more believabl, and definitely more immersive. It'd just be great to see how good the new damage model is going to be as well.

The Spit seems like a very formidable aircraft to fly against under any circumstance. I have been trying to beat a Spit in a Dora 1v1 with the Spit set to excellent, and it has been very very difficult. Against a Mustang I can eventually gain the upper hand, but it's a long journey to get behind the pony. I'll be honest though, the vertical convergence in the Dora still throws me for a loop. Much higher than I'm used to. Does anyone know what the default convergences are for the WWII birds?
-
Is it aafe to say that the AI set to excellent is capable of inhuman levels of piloting? It seems that the Spit IX and the K-4 are neigh unstoppable when set to expert.

Really hope to see this on a server soon. Sounds like an excellent mission!

Well thanks for the tips, we'll see if I can get anything fixed.

It's not just in-game the throttle sensor just doesn't work anymore. Doesn't seem reasonable that windows calibration would just wreck a controller. You mentioned the register might have gotten messed up, is there a way to specifically reset the register?
-
Yesterday, I was re-calibrating my control peripherals, and when I reset my TM Warthog throttle the axis got jacked up. In game settings when I go to test it all of the buttons work, but the axis on the throttle are acting as switches. When they are anywhere in the throw they read on the computer as full power, and when they are pushed full forward they read as at idle. So in summary, the control throw is reading inversely, and it's acting as a switch where it's either all forward or all idle and it's not reading any range. I have tried, -recalibrating the throttle in the game settings -moving USB port -using the Warthog throttle calibration tool -updating the firmware to 1.07 -Downloaded TARGET but didn't seem to find anything to help in that -pulling my hair out. SO is this thing bricked because I reset the settings on my PC??????? What do I do

ATC is a crusial part to a modern sim in my opinion. I think it greatly increases the immersion that can be had. I have gotten into some civil sims, and as far as VFR flight plans, DCS in it's current state is better than most civil sims. The update to ATC could really help people practice interaction with a tower. I As a student pilot in real life I think the best overall sim training experience cones from DCS. Tge flight models feel more real, the airfields feel more alive, and there is a functional VFR ATC. So I love the Yak-52 in single player. Thus addition is very welcomed from me!
