  1. If you are using Windows Vista please try updating the StarForce drivers: http://www.star-force.com/support/users/group3.php http://www.star-force.com/support/drivers/
  4. Happy Birthday mate!!

    FPS?

Since this thread has turned into yet another "ARMA love it or hate it" thread I guess its new home will be more appropriate. :)
  6. Just found this article on Air & Space about the Ravens, it gives a good overview. http://www.airspacemag.com/military-aviation/ravens.html There is also a documentation on YouTube, just search for "Ravens" and "Hmong", which features some of the Ravens mentioned in the article and, of course, the book, and blends their history in Vietnam with their revisit to Laos a few years ago, and at the end also has a few scenes from a reunion.
  8. Wait until I clip those nasty eyeclamps to your lids... :D
  9. You are right that we like to keep a rather tight grip especially on the DCS General Discussion section, and we know that all the moving of threads to the right section might be somewhat inconvenient, especially for newcomers, but we usually leave a link that expires after some time, so if you check the forum regularly for replies you should have no problem finding your thread, and other people will still see it for some time even if they don't read the section it has been moved to. And if the link expired you can still find the thread by using the search function. Anyway, my $0.02 are these: 1. Personally I believe that moving actually prevents threads from getting buried. Sure there are more people reading the general sections than other parts of the forum, but if most of the threads would go only into a single section they would quickly end up on page two or three. Ask yourself: do you read such "old" threads? :) As the amount of threads/posts has increased alot since the release of BS, opening new (sub-)sections was necessary to canalise this new traffic. 2. From what I can see the people in the know (e.g. those interested in hardware or game controllers etc.) regularly check the respective sections and provide help if they can. It may just take a little bit longer. 3. Ideally the process of getting acquainted with the forum should look like this: 1. read the forum rules, 2. register, 3. get to know the forum structure and sections, 4. read the stickies in the sections you are interested in, and 5. learn about the various forum functionalities. And if you have a question/problem: a) RTFM, b) RTFFAQ, c) UTFSF ("use the :censored: search function"), and only if that does not help start a new thread in the appropriate section. This is wishful thinking as we all know, but hey... 4. Moving threads to the correct section also helps with searching, because you get more precise results when you limit the search to the section that likely contains an answer to your question. 5. Most of the moving that's going on at the moment is a result of us changing the name of the "Cockpits and HOTAS" section to "Game Controllers" (which also includes output devices and software, as the subtitle says). The reason we changed it is that in the past topics about the X52 etc. got moved while topics about TrackIR etc. did not, which was a rather inconsistent practice. However, I hope that we will see less off-topic posting once most people realize that the scope of that section has broadened and start posting I/O related threads there in the first place. 6. Finally, apart from being a violation of the rules, posting in the section that attracts most of the attention regardless of the topic is simply a rather disrespectful habit. Now, I've gotta move this to chit chat.... ;)
  10. Just to clarify, if somebody has a question regarding the CP or a technical issue there is absolutely no problem asking about it on the forum (after reading the stickies/FAQ of course ;) ), we just don't want to have the endless debates about it anymore. Please inform yourself before making a statement like the above. The only version of BS that uses SF DVD protection is the Russian DVD, all others use online activation and have nothing to do with your CD/DVD drive. You can check that yourself btw by downloading the SF driver removal tool. So unless you have that version I highly doubt that your problems are caused by Black Shark, in any case it would require further investigation and you should file a proper bug report instead of making unfounded assumptions. Why are you sure that the problems aren't caused by other software, like Securom for example that's being used on the BF2 DVD...
  11. Guys, please no more discussions about the copy protection, rest assured that Eagle know all advantages and disadvantages. :)
  12. It's not 7 installs, but 8 activations and 10 deactivations, which is a huge difference. You have to use an activation a) if you do a major hardware upgrade, or b) when you reinstall your OS. Deactivations can be used to save activations (so it's as if you had 18 activations). And if you just reinstall Black Shark without a) or b) you don't need to use an activation.
  13. That diagram is incomplete I'm afraid. Correct would be: TK'er --> :chair: <-- ServMan Team damaging --> :gun_rifle: :inv: <-- victim ..... ServMan --> :dunno: Victim --> :bash: <-- team basher (i.e. ramming) ............ ServMan --> :Flush: :helpsmilie:
  14. If UAC is enabled the programs that run with non-admin rights are not allowed to write into the Program Files directory, instead all their write (and subsequent read) accesses are redirected to copies of the original files, which are automatically created in the VirtualStore folder you mentioned above. It's a security feature that should prevent malicous software from altering program data on your HD. :)
  15. Wir sind dabei, wird aber noch was dauern. :)
  16. Shot in the dark: try changing the "Alternate Pixel Center" option in CCC.
  17. Good news! And thanks to you both for reporting that the 9.6 drivers work okay again. :)

    dcs.exe

Please read the stickies in this section and provide a proper bug report. Without further basic information nobody will be able to help you.
  19. Another option is to use the F10 map and enable the display of friendly and/or enemy units.
  20. Alot of people experienced the "Launcher.exe has stopped working" problem with earlier 9.X drivers (9.2-9.4 iirc), I don't know though if the problem still occurs with later 9.X versions like 9.6, but generally reverting to 8.12 cured it, if disabling Catalyst AI didn't help. So it's definitively the first thing you should try. Just make sure that you get rid of the old driver completely by using a tool like Driver Sweeper.
  21. What video card and driver version do you use? If ATI, try disabling Catalyst A.I. in the Catalyst Control Center.
  22. Please get back on topic.
  23. The German version includes only a German speaking Naggin' Nadja, the rest is English. Subtitles are in German of course. Afaik the French version features localized radio comms.
  24. Thanks Hawg11 and luckybob9, great work! Looking forward to the Nevada terrain. :)
  25. Hey Leute, wollte alle Interessenten nur nochmal daran erinnern, dass morgen Einsendeschluss ist! :)
