Just like the title, a visor setup like the harrier would be highly useful, love being able to flip it up and down as needed.

Agreed, Any canopy that looked like that would be red X'd (written up as a discrepancy) in about 2 seconds.

Ciribob, Had some trouble with DCS and I had to delete my \Saved games folder so that DCS could build a new one. I reinstalled SRS and it won't launch now. any suggestions? Thanks for such an awesome program! edit: I've run the installer and I'm trying to launch the program as admin.

In the quest to improve frames I turned off Deferred Shading and turned on HDR with No MSAA and AA at 2x. Now when I launch in VR mode I get the hanger and the A/C with no menu. When I try to launch without VR (using Skatezilla's Utility) it's a blank black screen. Help! I've tried both clean and repair using the utility to no avail. Specs: i7 7820x 32g 3200 Ram GTX 1080 (latest drivers) 2x 1TB SSD raid 0 Vive without VR With VR

Totally new to this program, does it need to be running while in use with DCS? or does this get exported as a LUA file? Thanks.

Got it, thanks!

Hints and Tips for the F-5E BFM Campaign
Stache replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in F-5E Aggressors BFM Campaign
FPS isn’t a problem, I’m running 60-90 in single player. I’ll try again when I get back to la casa -
Ok, I figured it out, It works, just not in VR. If I launch without VR I can select it. When I launch in VR it doesn't show up in the menu.
-
I've got it where it's supposed to be: G:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\F-5E\Liveries\Cockpit_F-5E it didn't show up under special in the settings, I'll try again.

Hints and Tips for the F-5E BFM Campaign
Stache replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in F-5E Aggressors BFM Campaign
why can't I click on cockpit items in the campaign? I'm a VR flyer and need my mouse! -
I tried this with the latest version of DCS. I don't see it as selectable under "special".

How about probably not

Ok Gents, I purchased the push through AB detent from Debolestis, I'm using it on the F-5 with the recommended curves from this thread (and thoroughly enjoying it). I was perusing the F-5 manual this morning and stumbled across this gem: Afterburner System Afterburner operation is initiated by advancing throttle beyond MIL mark. Afterburner lightoff on the ground should occur within approximately 5 seconds. NOTE. The game provides the ability to restrict the movement of the throttles to MIL (imitation of spring detents). To use this feature (spring detent) it is required to assign key in the CONTROL SETTINGS control parameter THROTTLE RANGE (Press to change). does anyone know how to use this key/function in DCS?

Once in a while, I have a bug where I set manual depression and the reticle doesn't move. also occasionally bombs won't separate from the rack. anyone else?

Anything certified under part 25 requires some sort of redundancy. Multiple hydraulic systems etc.
-
It’s been years since initial ground school, I guess I need some remedial training!

Can't join multiplayer 2.5 stuck in loading or lobby or black cockpit
Stache replied to Jaakov's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
+1 loading screen then either crash or dump back to the multiplayer screen. I7 7820x 32g DDR4 GTX1080 2 SSD's (raid 0) -
There are no balance or servo tabs on the 737, that's why it is so difficult to fly in manual reversion.
-
So, My buddy that flew '38's (was also an F-22 Test Pilot) seems to remember that if you lost both hydraulic systems, you were S.O.L., as an aside, the 737 is one of the last (if not the last) commercial aircraft that has manual reversion capabilities (the a/c I currently fly).
-
Some aircraft have manual reversion capability, I'd think if the F-5 had it, you should have hydraulic pump switches in the cockpit. Some aircraft, like you said, use cables to control PCU's, one particular airframe I've flown had cable actuated PCU's and triple redundant hydraulic systems, but no manual reversion capability. Another had manual reversion capability but is like stirring molasses with the hydraulics off. I'd imagine the control forces on the F-5 would be significant. I've got a buddy that flew 38's, I'll pimp him for some clarity.
-
This is common on aircraft with hydraulically controlled surfaces, the flight controls move actuators which in turn move servos. there's no physical connection between flight controls and control surfaces. To account for the lack of input feedback, feel springs are used. the stick moving with trim is part of the system. I've flown 3 different aircraft (10 variants) that have systems like this.
-
Not sure you can call it a "feature", 12k+ hrs of flight time in everything from an Extra 300L at 7+ G's to a B737 and have never had an ADI "drift" AHRS systems don't "drift" unless they're broke. and then they flag out. and in this particular instance, I never pulled more than 3g's. If it's a "feature" it may need some tuning.
-
So, I take off from Nellis, fly for about 45min to an hour, and I'm holding north of Nellis to shoot the TACAN Rwy 21 approach. I look at the ADI and it shows 30 degrees nose up. I do a fast align and it sorts itself out. The same thing happened to my wingman a few days ago. Is this part of the design or a bug?
