  1. Hey Guys I am going put the APB (Aux Push Button)banks on the website for separate purchase in a few days, when I add some more content. I am still trying to figure out the most economical way to ship them internationally. I think this will be easier than emailing back and fourth, and using invoices. I did put them on the first page of this forum to add to new orders. I still have to put a pic on there. When the v2 of the FCU's are done they will go on the website also. After v2 of the FCUs is complete, I will continue work on the the v2 of the HMS. I am also still working on adding the VRB's, Virtual Radial Buttons. (I stole the name from Elmo) They are virtual buttons located just outside the FOV of your headset, but not PointCTRLs sensor. You can assign controls to these hot spots intuitively. A few examples, point to the left of the chat window and Click to turn it on or off, point to right of the Huey's AI pop out box and click to toggle it on or off, upper left hand corner for escape and so on. I think we are about at the end of the major punch list for PointCTRL 1.0 features that this processor is capable off. I still have some tweaks to the core code for a better experience. PointCTRL 2.0 will use a more capable Atmel Cortex processor, and i have a lot of new ideas that I will be able to implement. Thanks guys, and if anyone can find the list we made together a while ago in this thread of what you guys wanted to see in PointCTRL, please direct me to it. I can't seem to find it. Thanks again for all of your continued support and ideas, Miles
  2. Hi Terry, Yes, that's what I was referring to. If you have a clearance issue with your right hand on the F18 stick, you could just buy the smaller FCU for your right hand, so it would not interfere with the stick. Its sounds like you should be good anyways. Kits will be shipping Monday or Tuesday. Thanks, Miles
  3. Hey Terry, If you have thin fingers and smaller hands, you may want to wait for the smaller FCUs. There is no additional functionality, other than size, but they have about 20% less battery life. I think the original battery capacity may be a bit of an overkill anyway. If you are in a hurry, and have small hands and fingers, you could always just buy a new right FCU when they come out, for around $30.00 USD. Thanks for the good question, and thanks to TOYKILLA for jumping in there. I always like seeing you guys with PointCTRL answering questions. Miles
  4. Let me check it out, I think we can give it a try, I think they are thin enough. Now Serving up to 350 for Version 1.0 All invoices for 325 are out. If you received an invoice and want to wait for the smaller FCU's let Carol know. Smaller FCUs are probably 30 to 45 days away. Thanks, Miles
  5. Hey TOYKILLA, I am thinking $12.50 USD per button bank of three buttons. Includes the connector, double sided tape, and black shrink tubing to cover the wire. Electrical tape, taped flat to the top of the headset is probably a cleaner option for the wires. So 2 banks with 6 buttons would be $25.00 USD. Glad the Voice Assist worked out for you. You can get out of full screen mode by clicking the Options menu in the upper left hand corner of the GUI and uncheck full screen. Thanks guys, Miles
  6. Hey Peter, Thanks for the great question. Yes, The next firmware update will see PointCTRL as a standard joystick. I am just waiting for Deano87 to give me the green light on his final test, and I will release it. Modifiers work with it also. I will let this picture speak for my boring words.
  7. Holy Crap, What an interesting idea Voyager, I used to fly with a guy in the 99th, call sign "Xbox" who flew with an Xbox controller in VR, and he was awesome with it. So with a gaming laptop and a VR headset, you could take DCS on the road. Not optimal, but you could get comfortable in a hotel room chair and learn the aircraft systems and switch-oligy since you would be using PointCTRL for that. I had to stop what I was doing and try it out, Awesome idea. Thanks again for sharing your "sparky" idea. Miles
  8. Glad its working well for you TOYKILLA! Its in the latest firmware as a keyboard, but I will be switching to a hid joystick soon. I will publish the pin-out for the DIY guys. I am in production on the Aux buttons now. $12.50 per button bank. Includes 1, 3 button bank, double sided tape attached, 4 wire 150mm HMS to AUX connector. Here is Deano87's placement of 2 banks. He has been testing them for me. No more list, I think I am straining my friendship with FireCat.:smilewink: You early adopters only have to send Carol a order, I will try and come up with price for you guys for the FCUs, I was thinking around $30.00 each, complete with battery, does that sound reasonable? They still take so damn long to make, I am hoping the over-molding process speeds things up a bit. Thanks, Miles
  9. Important information for current "Now Serving Group". This groups (up 1 to 325) is in final testing and I am about to send out invoices. I only have about 26 PointCTRL 1.0 Kits left. The plan is to switch to the new FCU v2 first, then update to HMS v2 in the coming months. I was expecting the FCU bare PCBs early April, but they may delayed. I have enough 1.0 kits for this group, but if anyone would like to wait for the new smaller FCU's, let us know, and you will be moved to a "waiting group" for PointCTRL for new FCUs but the current HMS. The new FCU will only be an improvement if you have joystick that contacts the FCU, like the F18. I just wanted to give this group the option to wait if they preferred. If you would like to be put on hold for PointCTRL 2.0, send an email to Carol at orders@pointctrl.com, with your DCS Handle, List#, and the word"HOLD" in the subject line and Carol will get you moved over. Thanks, Miles
  10. Interesting... we will have to voice talk in discord. I know there a lot of folks that wish the mouse cursor would go lower in their HMD display. Miles
  11. Thanks Sirrah, We have to talk. I meant to ask you a few questions, because I thought you were doing something different with scaling that may be helpful to all VR users that use a mouse, not just PointCTRL. This is usually only an issue when The headsets vertical resolution exceeds the fixed monitors. PointCTRL's FOV is wider than VR headsets, except for the Pimax in the horizontal. We actually only use about 50% or the HMS sensors vertical FOV. Anyway, the standard mouse cursor and PointCTRLs vertical movement limits are reduced in the DCS window. I think by changing the displayed resolution of DCS, to get something more representative on our monitor, of the the image we actually see while in our headsets, we may be able to get full vertical movement. I have done this before, but as usual got sidetracked and forgot about it before I was able to come to a conclusion. I was planning on changing the DCS resolution on the USAF VR Labs that I installed PointCTRL on. Not because of reduces cursor movement, but by changing the DCS resolution the IP can have a larger and more representative view on the fixed monitor, of what the pilot is seeing in VR. This is not my idea, DeshMindER showed me this on discord, and said he does it for his YouTube videos. I think its worth investigating more for those that have vertically challenged cursor movement in VR. Edit: Damn, I forgot about full screen mode, its been so long since I used it, Have to check that out. Any advice or suggestions from anyone would be great, Thanks, Miles Miles
  12. Hey Sirrah, Do you have a significantly reduced mouse movement area because of your high res reverb and low res monitor.
  13. No, but its resizeable, so you should be able to use on your tiny little monitor. It should start out full screen for everyone, so you can see the menu and reference on the sides of the DCS window. Good luck, Miles
  14. Firmware and Audio Assist Update New Firmware and Audio Assist update out. Streamlined the Process a bit. Only 2 steps now. Set Cursor Targets and 5 point Calibration. The gal speaks less and is more focused, and has a to quite her down. https://pointctrl.com/firmware/
  15. Hey Harlikwin, I thought the Steam VR patch fixed that a week ago? did it not for you? RatCatcher, When interacting with overhead panels like the Huey, your FCU can be very close to the HMS sensor. So your FOV window to capture it, is much smaller, and it also becomes more sensitive to movement the closer the FCU is to the HMS. I mitigate this by fully extending my arm when interacting with the overhead panels on the Huey. This helps increase the FCU to HMS distance, and make it easier to use. Let me know how it works. Talk to you soon, Miles
  16. Hey Neon, Sorry to hear you have having an issue. Its probably just a conflict with an old device driver still on your system. I responded with some possible fixes over on the discord. If we cant get it sorted immediately, I will just ship you a new one, with a return label and postage paid, for the bad one. Let me know how you make out over on the discord. Thanks, Miles
  17. Hey Chic, Thanks for the heads up, I will check it out. The new camera sensor settings didn't work with the new 2d application lens. However the increased resolution of the new settings make it workable as is, with 2d monitors. I am adding an indicator for 2d monitors to the GUI that lights and beeps when the FCU is out of the sensors FOV. This will assist in getting things working with your 2d 65" monitor. When I push out the new voice assist we can do a discord screen share and give it another try. Thanks for your patience. I am working on a 2 camera option that is looking promising so far. In the meantime. If you can make a magnetic or movable mount that gets your current sensor as close to the top and front of your head, it would help. Take care, Miles
  18. Hey TOYKILLA, Jump on discord and we can talk through the set up and screen share the calibration. You just got a bad calibration, either HMS saw your other FCU or you had some IR interference. We will get it all sorted, Miles
  19. It was great to catch up. WinRar can be tricky, and it wasn't really your fault. I really like 7z, because when you click on the unzipped "Update_PointCTRL" batch file within the downloaded unzipped folder, (after asking you) it unzips the files, keeping the folder structure. It then puts you right in the unzipped "Update_PointCTRL" folder where you were, and you just click again on what appears to be the the same "Update_PointCTRL" batch file. The other issue, I think I just fixed. With some rigs or windows cursor mouse settings, the mouse cursor goes away during during 5 Point Calibration, and you have to wiggle your mouse to get it back. This is the same thing we see when you stop using the regular mouse. PointCTRL keeps moving the cursor location to keep it on. I made some adjustments so hopefully it doesn't go away anymore for everyone. New firmware and Voice Assist should be out tonight. There is no need to "Define Cursor Limits" anymore, so its just a 2 step process. And our Girlfriend doesn't talk as much, we can also ask her nicely to stop talking. Thanks to someone for saying "Miles, does set-up really have to be this Fu__ing complicated. Thanks, Miles
  20. RatCatcher!!!!!!! How the hell are you. You've been missed. DM me on discord so we can catch up and get things sorted. Thanks Andrew, it's always enjoyable for me to be there when PointCTRL first starts working for guys. In your case, it was easy, you were 99% there.
  21. Hey Wayz, I am getting a bit behind because I am really trying to clean up the instructions and video's. I got some great feedback on how to improve them. I detailed the direction I am going in the discord. I know you guys are waiting, but I also know there a lot of people that get frustrated with the set-up instructions. PointCTRL works well when you get their, but it really takes to much time initially set-up. Thanks for your patience, Miles
  22. Hey Gunner, I just PMed you, I thought it went through this morning, but I never hit send. Miles
  23. I started reading this thread with great interest. Leaning about and implementing new technology has enriched the second act of my life. I am not an Engineer, but I am motivated by this supportive, diverse, and extremely knowledgeable community, who has a common interest. Speaking for myself only, I feel when people visit our house, “these forums” our post, and how we conduct ourselves reflects on our whole community. I know tempers can flare; I became frustrated once when a forum member said I had “stole” his Idea. But it’s probably time to close this thread. Thanks Someone for the informative post. The whole making a hamburger analogy was perfect for me. I learned a lot from your clear and concise post, which were obviously written for the uneducated masses like me. @someone, I would love to see you start a new thread about neural networks. I am curious about how the results derived from the iterative process are then put into, or not, a newly generated algorithm, If that is even how it works. Miles
