About as good as it gets without having the font of the tail rotor 'warning'. Lets see if and what Sphimx says.

Left him a message, let's see what he says. We can then work from there with the forum post here, if he is inclined to do this.

1) What I meant is that on his page he added the following in French, which I happen to speak fluently: "Je réalise vos livrées sur-mesure, pour solo ou team. Service gratuit, je le fais sur mon temps libre" Which translates to, "I can make custom skins for you, either single or multiplayer. Free of charge, I do this in my spare time." That is why I said that, not to steal his work, and rebrand it as my own. Besides whenever I 'stole' something without permission and redistributed it, (which I have done in the past) I ALWAYS include the original author, and the website I took it from. I made a few mods for other games, and I don't mind that people do this with my work without asking as long as credit is given. Something my ego can happily live with. 2) There is a difference in changing HSV values and copy pasting other images on top of things and make them seamlessly fit with the rest. Doing skins takes time also because of the dds format, which Krita does not natively support, although it is a great completely free image manipulation software, just like Gimp. The original author has all that stuff on different layers, and while what I did here, is not a bad result, on a scale of 1-100% this would probably max out at 7.5/10, while he who has the orignal files could make it a crispy 100% and remove the two white stripes at the back to make it even more 'unique'. Something that is not easily done if you don't have the original files.

Using this skin: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3317137/ I made a quick and dirty conversion using a fictional roundel, Krita software, and the dds conversion website here: https://www.aconvert.com/ If this sounds interesting, I would be inclined to ask the original author if he could add a South African flag on the tail of the hind and change the Russian warning to something like: BEWARE which in Afrikaans is 'PASOP' or DANGER which in Afrikaans is 'GEVAAR' One could also use both roundels from either 'Sandline' or the knight from 'Executive Outcomes' - A merc 'dakedak' would really float my boat. Let me know what you thinks. greetings Dertien

I would like to see this one: I call it 'The Bullfrog" And the reasons? - The data is declassified - We could do with another coaxial rotor helicopter to supplement the Ka-50 - The Mi-8 needs a contender with a coaxial rotor. - Maybe add a few door gunners and pylons too... (but not a requirement) - When the Dynamic Campaign is a reality in DCS, transport/logistic choppers will be required. -It's a beautiful piece of engineering. and... -...who needs reasons when you're a kamov-rider. Great bird

Inaccurate or not The reason for my posts here is as follows: I was simply trying to find and point out sources of what real helo and Gazelle pilots had to say about the DCS Gazelle's flight model. It was not my intention to portray the flight model as flawless. It is clear that it is not. What I wanted to do was find real Gazelle pilots on Youtube who would shed light on how to setup the Saturation-Y curves as to get as close as possible to the 'real feeling' as we can with the flight model that is there now and also the reason for the Y-curve-numbers. It is also clear that the closer we get to the real thing by fiddling with the settings, and get those right (at least), the less of a conversion leap it will be to switch from this failed and fiddled configuration to as close as possible to the corrected flight model when and if PC decides to update the Gaz. Inaccurate flight model or not, a number of things I pointed out here (such as tuning the Y-curves) are also valid for all other modules, and an understanding of how they work. I did not know that, and I simply wanted to share. I am myself not a helo pilot, and I don't know SAS or SCAS from Swiss cheese, and I appreciate what you are saying here but that does not discredit what the Gaz 341 pilot in the first YT movie above said about the flight model. I was merely connecting dots.

Well, looking at yet another review from a real military pilot in the video below who flies/flew the Kiowa, and has talked to a few real Gazelle pilots. He doesn't seem to share the opinion that the Gazelle is flying 'on rails' - There are however some differences in the way he sets up his controls, but... A) Controls setup All in all het tells the same story as the Gaz 341 pilot from the video above. The saturation values cannot be left on default because of the length of the stick handle. The pilot in the video above who flew the Gaz 341 also said that the Gaz 342 is a heavily pimped and updated version of the 341 which has even more power and will behave even more jittery. His Y-saturation values to get the 'feel' he remembers from the Gaz 341 will have different are higher (Y-sat 60% in pitch and roll channels) as opposed to the settings in the video below: Settings in a nutshell which were also confirmed by the Gaz pilots het talked to and Polychop themselves. Options->Special-> FF both on zero and un-tick the FF checkbox. Rudder - Saturation-Y: 60% Collective - Saturation-Y: 70% Pitch - Saturation-Y: 40% Roll - Saturation-Y 25% As an addition he set the rudder curve to -15 (something that felt 'better' to him) 2) Augmentation Another thing we should keep in our minds is that military helicopters (even derivatives of commercial non military helos) apparently have augmentations, making them basically a lot more stable than their civilian non augmented counterparts. He discusses this in the video above as well. It is very likely that the Gaz 342 by Polychop which is a military chopper, not just a civilian chopper with a new paint scheme and some avionics that enables it to fly missiles, has this augmentation, while the Huey which is a very old machine in comparison does not. 3) Conclusion The only problem is that when rolling the Gaz left or right while in a non hover turn having established forward flight, and putting the stick in the neutral position after initiating the turn, the chopper should straighten - come back to a neutral position faster all by itself. Polychop is aware of this, and this will hopefully be addressed in an update. All in all it does not seem to be a bad module at all, and the flight model is not as borked as is said.

Here is an interesting video about an ex-military British gazelle pilot. In a nutshell, the Gazelle flight model is not that far off. The first issue he states is that the 'cyclic is too stable'. In the real bird you never can let go of the stick unless it has both skids on the ground - meaning you need to constantly 'stir in the pot' so to speak to keep the thing level or have it keep going where you want it to. It acts too much like a Cessna in DCS once you have it on the move. The second issue is that the Saturation-Y of the pitch and roll channels (in this case the cyclic) greatly depend on your hardware - and not only for the Gazelle. If you have a control stick with a short base (such as most off the shelf commercial sticks - Saiteks, Logitechs, CH-products, Virpil etc...in fact any stick that sits on a table surface), the 'Saturation Y' setting in the controls should be somewhere in between 60% and 80%, both in the cyclic pitch and roll channels. If you are the lucky one who got a real Gazelle stick from a scrapyard somewhere, nailed it to the ground and hooked that up to DCS, the Saturation-Y setting should be left to 100% - standard value. The more saturation, the more you will jerk the bird around with small motions of the stick with a tabletop setup. In a real gazelle, where the stick is more than 40 cm high, moving the stick say 30 cm to the left, at the base it will only move maybe 1 cm, hence 100% Saturation at the top is required. When using a stick with a short base, less saturation is required so the stick will probably move full range 5 cm on the top and 1 cm at the base, hence a Saturation-Y of 60 to 80% will do. Just remember, the smaller the stick the less saturation which kinda makes sense. All other controls (collective and rudder) can be left untouched. The impossible-to-come-by-correct Saturation-Y setting values also make it clear that you will never get it 'completely' right, (on any module) or on par with the real thing, for that you will have to buy a Gazelle and fly it for real. Perfectionism as you can see, is NOT an asset in your life, on the contrary, it drags you down.

Would love the Buccaneer... and to be specific, the S2.D variant please. Instant buy. It would give a decent run for the two other ground attack birds already present in the DCS arsenal. Furthermore, two new theaters (Falklands and Kola) would profit from a low level ground attack aircraft.

Slow repair did not help This shows and that is all. then after 15-20 seconds it disappears and does not launch DCS. IL-2 updates don't do this; they just run. This has happened to me with DCS a few times now, and I am not about to reinstall windows every time DCS devs want to update their game. Any other ideas are very welcome, except reinstalling Windows. -
Game shows login screen - then crashes - log included Win 10 64 bit pro RTX2060 latest drivers installed No mods and Saved Game/DCS folder was deleted. Help. starting as admin or regular does not make a difference dcs.log DxDiag.txt

Just released F-16 retirement video from Norwegian Airforce
dertien replied to MIghtymoo's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Norway and Denmark are two different countries -
Thank you Sinclair and Majik The northern flank mission is a daytime mission, and the HMCS was not working there neither. That's why my nickel didn't fall. I remembered that installing both devices via the ground crew menu was an option. What I did not know is that you could also have NOTHING installed. I loaded Northern Flank and installed the HMCS via the radio and the ground crew and behold it worked. So, If you don't see the HMCS, the first option should be to talk to the ground crew (if you are on the tarmac and that option is available) and have them install either NVG's or the HMCS. I also read in Chuck's guide that only the Sidewinder X version is capable of high profile attacks. Haven't really tried that. In any case thank you for solving the problem, and pointing me in the right direction. Now I can enjoy the F-16.

When loading up the 'king of the hill' single player mission that comes with the viper and one turns the HMCS knob clockwise it lights up and shows. However on this mission: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3318600/ turning the knob clockwise does nothing. Both aircraft start cold and dark and I start up both with autostart this time for consistency purposes. also when starting mission 'nightly silence', a mission that comes with purchase of the module, no amount of fiddling with the knob will get the HMCS on. Fiddling with the DMS (Data management switch) left long or short does not work - it just cycles the different views on the MFD's in the viper. I would like to know what I need to do to switch the damn thing on in a consistent manner, since I want to use it in that mission. Adding both lines to the default.lua file and assigning both to a keyboard key HMCS on and HMCS off does nothing neither... { down = 3001, cockpit_device_id = 75, value_down = 1.0, name = _('HMCS Power ON'), category = _('HMCS Power')}, { down = 3001, cockpit_device_id = 75, value_down = 0.0, name = _('HMCS Power OFF'), category = _('HMCS Power')}, Also, on the left below the stick the 'MAIN PWR switch is fully forward" on both accounts. I don't understand what the hell is going on here Can someone advise? Thank you.

@Wolfox1 If it is not classified information, could you (pretty please), share the information in a table format for the presented scenarios as above? BVR, CAS, SAM, Pop Up, and any others that you deem important? I mean burst quantity, burst interval, Salvo quantity, Salvo interval. etc. 60 chaff and flares get depleted pretty fast using the default DCS setup. I could make a kneeboard out of this that you could use to enter in the DTC program, and then it could be shared in files and loaded up into the DCS DTC program available for download here: Thank you.

Yes, I goofed up. The Kamov I meant was the Ka-32 like the one used by Heliswiss heavylift. Yes it's a civilian helicopter, but so is the Christen Eagle, so I don't see any issues there. Since it's civilian, the systems would be declassified which is a plus, and it could be outfitted with door gunners and act as a troop transporter / coaxial rotor "gunbus" version of the Mi-8. absolutely fantastic helicopter. The South African "Rooivalk" would also be cool to scratch that South African Mercenary itch.
-
Since I like the Kamov-50 flight model with its coaxial rotors much more than that of the Mi-24 and the Mi-8 for its better stability, I wou!d like to see: either: Ka-35 or Ka-226 T or both The Ka-35 would be a good contender for the missions the Mi-8 does, and all the missions of this helo could be ported to the Ka-35. The Ka-226 would be a cool utility/black ops insertion/recon helo.

@Chic, You Sir, or Madam ar a star. Thank you. Yes I use JSGME.

Hello, I would like to install the Cockpit by Devrim on DCS world openbeta 2.5.2, but cannot seem to find the folder for the MI-8. In D:\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft there is no MI-8 folder, although I have the module installed, and in C:\Users\myusername\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta There is no liveries either. Can anyone help? Thank you

Really looking forward to this chopper, and hopefully we'll have a couple of different loadout possibilities like door gunners for example.

Hardware: Oculus Rift CV1 Windows 10 DCS standalone version 1.58.12823 Bug; - Save a mission with the mission editor - Within mission editor start the mission up via the menu Flight - Fly Mission - Exit the mission (not to desktop) - Menu fails to show When exiting the mission the menu would not show up, just the hangar and the plane - which results in having to hard reset DCS via the task manager - end task. I purchased FC 3 among some modules yesterday and uninstalled it today to see if this would resolve the issue. When FC 3 is not installed, the menu after exiting the mission shows up again as intended. There must thus be some erroneous code in FC 3 that stops the menu from showing up. Wanted to report this if you are unaware of this behaviour. Happy new year to all of you.

aaaand... let's not forget: A clickable cockpit for the SU-25T in order to have both the A-10 and the SU-25 workable in VR without having to remember switches. OR... A dev diary on how cockpits are created - The switches in the cockpit work when pressing keyboard shortcuts, so... wonder why the reverse would be such a hard thing to do. Would gladly pay for it as well just to be able to fly the SU-25 with a clickable cockpit, with its current Flight Model.
-
Right, I've attached a track that demonstrates how impossibly flimsy the cable is when doing slingload operations in the Ka-50; feels more like silk than steel. On top of that, regardless if you fly the Ka-50, the Huey or the Mi-8; once the cable breaks, the communications menu refuses to show up to select a different load, or any other comms option for that matter. In order to activate the communications menu again (it will popup by itself) one needs to land the chopper. Anyone else agree to this, and can we call this tow bugs?
