Hello, Thank you for the advice. Although my PC is highly outdated, any help is useful. By the way, how does this driver hinders DCS performance ? Does it consume RAM or any other resource ?

Some more feedback regarding stutters here, Open Beta 2.8.6.xxxx using Multithread. Got much better results than tweaking with Afinity and Priority processes at task Manager, getting rid of stutters on my PC was : - at DCS menu > options > system > Textures ... changing from High to Medium Hope it might help anyone, I don't recall the last time I played DCS so fluid.

@Hiob, @Sacarino111 and everyone ... Although my hardware is long outdated, and I'm using Open Beta 2.8.6.xxxx, yesterday I've stumbled in one option which considerably decreased my stutters : - changing the 'define priority' to: "real time" at the Task Manager I can confirm it helped my stutter situation because evertyme the stutters do appear : - the FPS gray line (at the up left corner counter) used to have more pronounced drops, more durable and more frequent - after selecting "real time" priority at the Task Manager the stutters decreased considerably - that is perceived as the FPS line drops got fewer, less pronounced and less durable - as I highlight in red at the image below Anyone of you already tried this ?

On my PC with specs as on signature ... my 2 cents. While on mission (single player edited F-14 Case 1 Carrier Landing) on Open Beta 2.8.6.xxxxx MultiThread : > call Task Manager > select 'details' separator > right click on dcs.exe > define afinity > un-select one given core - click OK > right click on dcs.exe (again) > define afinity > select 'all processors' - click OK ... don't know if it is placebo or not. The 'afinity' tweak seems to help decreasing the stutter frequency ... and I'm not yet sure it lasts the entire time of gameplay. I'm also using a pagefile of 32768 MB, modest options in-game, and the Task Manager 'high priority' tweak for DCS ...

Hello again, When you say "plane", you mean everytime one changes the view ? Like for instance, changing between F1 and F2 views ?

In the F-16C, there are several modes / functions regarding the AIM-9 employment : Spot - the seekerhead symbol (diamond) stays fixed at the HUD, looking ahead ~ boresight Scan - the seekerhead symbol does a moving search pattern somewhere along the top portion of the ASE circle (if I recall correctly), basically increasing the target acquisition area edit The above are different functions, but also interact with the Cage / Uncage and Bore / Slave ones.

Ok, thank you Sacarino !

Could someone please tell me : - I'm still at open beta 2.8.8.xxxxxx version - using MultiThread - I do have some stutters in single-player missions - essentially due to my weak PC, specs as in my signature Will this fix about the CPU cores help me regarding the stutters ? Thank you.

Glad to see the AIM-9 functions / avionics received some due attention in the F-16 ; although the Spot / Scan function is still missing. Good news eitherway.

2023 End of Year Development Report - A-7E Corsair II
Top Jockey replied to MikeNolan's topic in FlyingIron Simulations
Greetings from Portugal ! The iconic A-7P Corsair II ... a very important and nostalgic piece of my country's Air Force history. Many of you might not know ... but in a somewhat poor country like ours, besides the ground attack and anti-ship missions, the A-7 also received the air-defence mission from 1980 until 1994, when Portuguese Air Force received their first F-16s. The best of luck on your project !- 31 replies

Man ... and for brief moments here I was, starting to get hope, that evetually I would one day see an improved MiG-29 variant with proper BFM turning capability...
-
I see, so it's a matter of waiting then...

Well, quite frankly ... I'm also not expecting the Phantom to be available this year anymore. But not even in Q2 of 2024 ? Exactly what makes you feel it will take so long ?

Relevant question indeed. Given my weak and dated system, also thought about how much 'resource heavy' the module might be.

How to increase volume on "F14 severe airframe stress"
Top Jockey replied to Top Jockey's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
After a little experimenting - thank you @sLYFa, it worked flawlessly. Thank you also @draconus and @FR4GGL3 too, as the "hearing like in helmet" option also helped. Possibly because it mutes the engines sound a bit, and therefore allows for a better perception of the airframe stress sounds. Thank you also HEATBLUR for the flexibility others might not have - allowing a simmer to better feel the immersion in the module is paramount. -

How to increase volume on "F14 severe airframe stress"
Top Jockey replied to Top Jockey's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Hello draconus, Thank you for your help ! ... and you really have the ability to get me confused : 1. Your helping me already - i suppose with the procedures you share it will also be possible to increase this sound, thank you. 2. Well, is the F-14 airframe stress sound / noise supposed to be heard by the crew inside the cockpit or not ? - at another older thread you said it can be heard from the cockpit ; - why would Heatblur bother to replicate that sound, if it wasn't supposed for the PC simmer to hear it ? The cockpit switches sounds, are very good and I even increased the volume a bit at the options. ECS sounds, don't recall if I ever noticed them. I will try this once I get to my sim PC and will leave feedback here. -
How to increase volume on "F14 severe airframe stress"
Top Jockey replied to Top Jockey's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Hello, Yeah probably that is one of the situations in which you might hear it, as nowadays I can't hear it at all. Don't really know if it's my old sound system or what. Last year, I only managed to hear it in game but VERY, VERY tenuously. At the time @draconus told me at which folder the file was, I played it off-game with WIndows Media Player so I could 'identify' it by hearing. And then managed to hear it a few times in-game (again, last year or so), with engines idle, pulling hard Gs ... but always at a very weak and distant volume. The reason I again ask for it - is because of the immersion factor, as in another very old F-14 sim (TOPGUN: Fire at Will) the airframe stress noise was clearly perceptible, it was also that familiar metal screech. It wouldn't bother me at all to copy / paste the edited file each time I updated - immersion is my priority. Other than that, yes I have no experience using sound editing programs, and freeware can be 'doubtful' ... -

Hello again, Still can't notice this sound "F14 severe aiframe stress" while on gamming - absolutelly nothing, I know my PC sound set is an old piece of crap however. Can anyone share some advice on how to edit this file to increse the volume a little bit ? Thank you. -
Hello, This system ( VTAS ) spikes my curiosity a lot, essentially because of its originality, rudimentar and pioneer technological aspects. Regarding the bold, on the 20 degrees off-boresight. With such a limited (angle wise) off-boresight capability, probably its line of sight gimbal limits are: - horizontal, inside the cockpit front frame arc - the 2 'windows' at each side of the HUD - vertical, not too much above the cockpit front frame arc Something like this ?
