  1. I know, you are describing: similar objectives often result in similar solutions. Let's see if I can get my point across, regarding airframe designs : example: JF-17 ; J-20 ... highly original / inovative airframe designs example: J-7 / F-7 ; J-8II ; J-11 ; etc ... highly identical to already existing russian airframes (No big surprise, as some of these aircraft were licenced production variants from Russia.) Not intending to diminish in any way, just looking at airframe origins.
  2. Thank you for the info, MiG21. The part in bold, I can see 'combined' similarities with those 2 types also, but then there's always that impression: however it ends up highly resembling the Su-15. But then again, for example when several times people say there are resemblances between the MiG-29 airframe and the Hornet ... I've always find the MiG-29 airframe much more similar with the F-15's airframe.
  3. No, it's not because it looks like something, it's because the two airframe's design, blueprint, form, silhouette, (call it what you want) really are very similar. So don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about internals / hardware / etc, but my 'scientific assertion' is that anyone with 2 eyes can see the two airframes are highly identical, just that. Very good, I fully understand. Looking to photos of both jets throughout the web, indeed the J-8II looks more refined and maintained.
  4. Help me to understand over here : Isn't the J-8II airframe, essentially a remake of the Russian's Su-15 "Flagon" airframe ?
  5. Yeah, but I don't see other people talking this way to you. You know, it's clear from your tone that you are here essentially looking for an argument.
  6. How do you know for sure, exactly what did or did not happen, more recently over the skies of Ukraine, Siria, and other less known hot spots around the world ? And "that's how it always will be" ? Hahahaa, can you foresee the future ?
  7. I see you didn't understood (or didn't want to) my points: - I never meant to compare the MiG-29 to the F-15 - you were downplaying the importance / reality of close quarters combat / maneuverability / etc ... and I mentioned you that, the very same jet you praise - the MiG-29 highly embodens much of these concepts ; - you constantly say "DCS is a fun fetish of maneuvering combat" ... so in all true you should also say: "DCS is BVR fun fetish" ; as a HUGE amount of discussions here at the forum are precisely about BVR missiles tactics, BVR missiles performance comparison, BVR missiles realism, etc. edit On the F-15 maneuvering kills, I'm sure Israeli Air Force does have quite a few, although I don't have the slightest idea if they were in the 'last 20 years', or to what level of detail they will share that info publicly.
  8. Several points here : - again ... the MiG-29 you praise (jet I also admire) is all about that in bold - the importance of maneuvering combat - because military analysts of several countries saw enough evidence that, close quarters maneuvering fights were not completely finished - Korean war also featured close quarters air combat, Vietnam, Falklands, etc. - even today the continuous development of jet fighter maneuverability, JHMCS and High Of Boresight missiles, shows the possibility of close quarters fight can arise in the heat of the conflict
  9. So what ? I don't see anything wrong with it. People come to DCS to get from it whatever enjoys them the most... if it is close quarters air combat / dogfight, what's wrong it that ?
  10. I would say it's a little bit different: That with the YF-16 / YF-17 the maneuver combat concept was instead taken to even higher degrees, than the already existing ones - i.e. the F-15.
  11. Some USB conflict ? In my case, when I have the Joystick USB plugged into the computer, the WIN 10 screen saver doesn't activate at all, just an example.

    MI-24VP

Not Razor68 here, but I'll answer - because : - one feels more control over that weapon system, and it also increases the immersion feeling - I'm a targeting system's enthusiast, and enjoy managing those systems - the simple boresight (point the gun with the helicopter) and shoot, feels somewhat 'arcadish' - I've seen 1983 "Blue Thunder" with Roy Scheider, and liked it - I've seen "TOPGUN" with the completely fictional moving aiming sights, and still I liked it - for me, part of the Hind's (Apache, Cobra, etc) charisma always was its chin turret - it makes stationary / hovering flight shots possible, contrary to the current side-mounted fixed cannon Hind variant ...
  13. Any videos of that sim on youtube ? My first "acquantaince" with the Tomcat was "TOPGUN: Fire At Will!" Fleet Defender, I never managed to find it at my country in the '90s unfortunatelly.
  14. Regarding the F-15E airframe supposed maneuverability / dogfighting capabilities... Well, just speculating as a mere jet fighter enthusiast, I would imagine that, with: - full gun ammo; - 2 Sidewinders; - a somewhat low percentage of internal fuel; I believe it could manage to surprise positively a lot of people; easily win in ACM vs a Mirage F1, for instance ? I mean, it's an airframe with big wings, very powerful engines, also I imagine it isn't AoA limited like the F-16.
  15. Congratulations, nostalgic indeed. One of my very first jet fighter PC sims was probably MicroProse's "F-15 Strike Eagle II", in the early '90s. Interesting how, until I tried that sim I didn't even knew what kind of aircraft an F-15 was... and the same for many other aircraft.
  16. Well, I'll admit stuff like the F1AZ's Helmet Mounted Sight would increase my attention on that bird. But as I've read on another thread here already, currently the developer isn't planning on making the AZ variant ... edit ... and then, I mixed AZ and CZ variants regarding the HMS.

Thank you @AdrianL ! For much that I've tried to find it yesterday, I was condemned to fail big time : - at the UI Layer selection box, I had F-14 Pilot selected instead ... never had the slightest idea to change that. Also, on my system the default key combo is : Left control + ' All the best !

    Show FPS

Hello again, After some time away, updated to DCS version 2.8 Open Beta a few days ago ... and: - no key combo seems to bring up the FPS counter ; - neither can I find the respective key combo at the options > controls list . Can anyone share some insight ? Thank you.
  19. Hello draconus, Far from me to try to tell any company how they should run their web forums, obviously. No 'grudge' or anything like that. It's only that, as a long time customer it doesn't suit well with me getting questions deleted in a not so corteous fashion, when trying to know news from specific stuf of my interest / curiosity. See - right there in your bold lies your answer : - I didn't post any less cordial or less constructive afirmation, (I'm not the full pressure crowd that keeps ranting about development delays); - I instead asked a question, fruit of my interest in a given avionics function ... now if you tell me that a question from a customer / fan is 'deemed unneded'... But hey, this isn't such a big matter anyway. All the best, Pedro
  20. That's what I'm thinking about. And by the looks of the dented rubber o-ring on mine, and several more reports like yours, I've come to terms that it can eventually happen to mine also. Like I've read at the web once: "It seems like TM understood that, a big part of their customers are much more delighted by looks and eye candy, than by quality and durability itself." Thank you. I did and they've sent me a new rubber o-ring with the plastic disc / plate also, but I'm now using a PTFE ring from user Hempstead. I understand you, but it will always be the same 'limited' durability mechanism, that will eventually end up wearing in the same way. Having that said, if / when it happens to mine, I don't know if I will repair it again.
  21. Hello, I can understand that running a forum has its own quirks and might not always be an easy task. But still, some fairness, diplomacy and a little grasp that not every user here are young kids, is also needed. Regarding the stickers: "not deleted, use search" - it was deleted afterall. "bump spamming" - is that what they call it when people post a question, on a long forgotten matter ? No problem at all, my intentions for the A-10C II, AH-64D, F-4 Phantom II and others, are also 'deleted' for a while.
  22. Thank you for your reply. Didn't intend to make anything happen faster, neither could I as I'am no developer. I merely posted a question in a thread; asking you, Wags and Bignewy if there was any forecast, on when would a given function be implemented. Got no answer at all, and instead as you just confirmed... my post was indeed deleted. Being a long time and loyal ED / DCS fan and customer, getting posts deleted in this (not so courteous) fashion didn't suit well with me, so from my part, next modules buys are canceled for a while. Best regards, Pedro
  23. What for, so they delete one's posts like in the F-16 forum ? Just a waste of time.
  24. No need for that, anyone can notice : - they say "not deleted" ... however they can't point where the post was moved / merged to.
  25. " Not deleted " ? Yesterday, I've posted at the thread below with: - @ symbol as prefix to Wags, BIGNEWY, NineLine, as the thread as been continuously ignored - asking for news about the SCAN function implementation for the AIM-9 ... since the last post actually there is by user Zergburger from August 1, my yesterday post sure was deleted... as it isn't there anymore. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/297187-f-16c-spot-scan-functions-for-aim-9-missile/
