  1. Plays can be awkward. Start it up first, switch it over to manual recording, then start DCS. If it has worked the status bar in the top left should appear. If not restart DCS.
  2. Happy new year everyone. Just a quick message to let you know the progress. I've had a lot of issues with the missions since one of the DCS patches so I'm having to tinker to get them working properly again. I've also had a few internet issues (uploading woes), which has slowed me down. I hope to get the thing released this month, and it's looking like it will be 15 missions. Sorry it's not more but the constant faffing has killed my enthusiasm a bit. When it's done I'll post here. However, I intend to start work on a part 2 early this year. Anyway, thanks for all the support.
  3. Any landing you can walk away from is a good one. Although spinal injuries may prevent that :D
  4. Hey everybody (in a doctor nick voice). Sorry it's been quiet here recently, I burned out a bit making this. Just to let you know I'm still working on it (I've been re-reading a lot of source material for fresh ideas). I hope the next release will be the complete campaign. I'm still aiming for about 20 missions in the campaign, so it's a bit of a slog but I'll get there.
  5. Sorry for the terse reply sniper, I had a very stressful weekend (everything seems to happen at once). I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I'll replace the Apache's (there are a couple of times Apache's appear) with Cobra's to make them more era specific, and look at editing text. Actually I have a lot of work to do regarding the text part so that should keep me busy for a while.
  6. Fly from the other seat then.
  7. Hey guys. Just a quick message to let you know it's progressing nicely. Regarding the music, the latest version didn't have it as I wanted to spend some time working on it to make it sound more realistic (sounds great now). I originally included it as a sorry to Yurgon for putting him through a hellish early mission (which got removed thanks to his feedback). Thanks for the kind words, and a big thank you to Yurgon for answering the questions in my absence.
  8. Funny story to this one. I had originally intended the left door gunner to die during the evacuation but for the life of me I couldn't get it to work. I wrote out a whole section for it that I had to remove as he just wouldn't die. Sod's law that he goes and dies in your mission. Thanks, looks like I missed something so that's on my to do list.
  9. Cheers MadDog that's very useful information. I must admit I've found the whole thing quite bewildering. There is more coming, but I have been utterly hammered at work recently and I haven't had much time to work on this in the evenings. Don't worry though, I'm still working on it.
  10. Hey guys, work has been hectic so I haven't done much this week. I will certainly add an audio cue for radio comms, and there is no penalty for missing waypoints. The only important ones are picking up and dropping off wounded.
  11. Version 5.1 of the Demo is up (version 5 had problems) Link is on the first page. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2722167&postcount=5 Changes include: - 3 new missions (11 in total) - Edited mission pictures - Complete re-working of campaign scoring. Quitting out of a mission no longer sends you back to the previous mission. - Many many tweaks and fixes. Enjoy If you have downloaded Demo version 5, delete it. I apologise for the hassle but things got very convoluted and certain fixes created new problems. Version 5.1 has been been checked as best as I could. I'm currently running through the entire campaign to check for problems, which I'm sure you can appreciate is a bit time consuming.
  12. Good idea squirrel, I'll add an fm signal to the hospital.
  13. Thanks for the feedback guys. Okay, I'll aim for 20 at the moment for the first proper release. As you say Yurgon, I'm just conscious of it becoming too repetitive. It's a tradeoff really between repetition and realism as I don't want to just shoe horn in things like sling loading for the sake of it. You'll definently like the two missions I did yesterday, but I wont spoil the surprise. Voice acting is another dilemma. Honestly I don't think I want to get into audio editing at this stage but I'll see how it goes. I can do a variety of hilarious American accents, but I don't want to offend anyone :D
  14. Don't be afraid to orbit for a bit to plot your approach in either. I haven't put horrible time constraints on the missions so don't feel like you just have to zoom in. I do, but purely because I'm an idiot :D Just finished making 2 more missions today. I was going to ask you guys how many missions do you think is about right? I was going for 20-30 but I think that may become a bit of a slog. Opinions?
  15. hehehe. Don't worry Chip, I'll upload a version tonight without the first mission. I only do half days on Friday so it should be up by early evening. Edit: Here you go. It's a version without the introductory flight, so that should save you an hour and a half (or 45 minutes if you don't care about your crew chief staying up all night) :D https://www.dropbox.com/s/ibl53u125fu8ifb/DustoffNoIntro.rar?dl=0 Looks like the general consensus is this resetting of progress is a bug. Campaign Update I've been recharging my batteries this week getting ideas for the next set of missions (I over did it last week), but I'll hopefully get a few more done this weekend.
  16. And at some point you'll need to learn autorotations, which are a bit intimidating at first. The first time you autorotate properly is a great moment. I think there are practice missions available to help.
  17. I'm reading that at the moment, good book. I didn't enjoy rattler one seven though, he isn't a natural writer and it contains scant details. Although the bar has been set very high already by Chickenhawk.
  18. Hmmm that's very odd snowsniper, that certainly shouldn't happen. Does anyone have any ideas if this is a bug or have I fouled up somewhere? I'll have to investigate that. I know it's not a perfect solution but you can play the missions individually as well for the time being. Thanks for letting me know. Also thanks for the support everyone.
  19. Oh no that's no problem at all, I really appreciate the insight to be honest. I've watched hours of documentaries, and read a load of books to try and get the right feel for the campaign so anything that makes it more believable is a positive. Actually seeing your comment reminded me that I need get back in touch with the air cav group and take my check ride. Hopefully I'll get to fly with you at some point. Thanks gunfighter!
  20. Oh okay, I never realised the distinction between the two but that makes sense. The good thing about DCS is that you can swap out the load out as you like it. Thankfully nothing in the missions I've built need you to have door gunners (other than crew chief text), so it won't cause any problems there.
  21. That is interesting!
  22. I experienced the same thing. I put it down to severe icing due to the altitude and wet weather. At one point during the flight you are skimming the cloud base which would make it worse. I've found the instruments come back to life once you descend towards the Field Hospital. Some times I've found the VVI, Altimeter, and Air Speed Indicator all stop working. Sometimes it is just one or two of the instruments, so I think this is normal behaviour (not 100% on this). It wasn't intentional on my part, but it makes the trip more interesting :D
  23. Dust Off V.4 is now up. Check the first page for the link. File size is a bit bigger as I have added a couple of custom unloading sounds (they still need to have their file sizes reduced). Changes: * Minor tweaks to most missions to make them flow a bit better. Nothing drastic. * Escalation has had a thorough overhaul. Better location, improved Laager point, better response and interaction with defending gunships, more exciting LZ insertion. * New sound effects for unloading wounded at Field Hospital. * Two new missions, extending the Demo to 8 overall. I've just flown the entire thing and it's great fun if I say so myself. I even got promoted to Major after the last mission
  24. Well I'm happy to report I am now over the hump understanding how triggers work. I have spent today tidying up the existing missions, and created two more so it is progressing nicely. Hopefully all the earlier teething problems are now a thing of the past. If you experience any problems with version 3 of the demo campaign just post on here and let me know. Contrary to my original post I think I will do another update in the next couple of days. It's strangely rewarding making these missions, and I'm enjoying flying them so that's a good sign. Thanks for your patience and support.
