  1. There may be several stages of afterburner, but are they actually controllable with the throttle? In the F-16...as well as Hornet and Tomcat, I thought afterburner was all or nothing.
  2. Well, that may be true but this discussion is specific to the F-16 which, does not. For the F-16, the AB detent option will be great for those who do not have a detent on their throttle. Of course, this is an option and can be turned off for those who do not like it's functionality. Options are good to have, as everyone's setup and preferences are different.
  3. Yes, you have to drop the throttle back to change between MIL and AB. It is less than ideal but so is not having a physical detent on the throttle. I find that it works well and is easy to get used to. Having to drop the throttle back also provides a physical cue to let me know that I am changing between MIL and AB. Different levels of AB? Which aircraft have that? I find that having the AB position being set at a particular throttle range lacks enough feedback and requires close monitoring of the FF and RPM gauges to let you know if you are in AB or full MIL power.
  4. Yeah, it was news when Heatblur and Magnitude 3/Leatherneck were still one!
  5. Basically, without pressing the mapped AB button, increasing your throttle to max will give you MIL power....with the AB button pressed, increasing your throttle to max will give you afterburner.
  6. Thanks for the reply! Happy to hear that you will be adding this! I have a Thrustmaster TWCS throttle and finding a button to map the AB detent to won't be a problem. Keep up the great work and good luck with F-16 development...looking forward to it!!!
  7. Wags/ED, Are you planning on including the AB detent special option like we have in the Hornet? It really works great for those without an actual physical detent on their HOTAS and I hope to see it as an included option with the F-16 as well.
  8. Agree! Nice to hear the F110-GE-129 in action! Sounds great!
  9. Do USAF F-16's carry an ECM pod at all times then? If not, when/why wouldn't they?
  10. +1 The Mini-Updates are great for this too. I enjoy how they let us preview and learn new systems and features as they are developed. Hopefully we see the F-16 Mini-Updates start up soon!
  11. Thanks for your input on this! I am working on setting up the NTTR map for training and would like to replicate real world operations and procedures as much as possible. The 476th vFG NTTR stuff has been a great help in regards to bombing and strafe ranges and nav points. Now I just need that F-16... :smilewink:

Me too buddy. I spent many years getting to know and love the F-16. I am on here all the time anxiously awaiting the Viper Mini-Updates.

Excellent! Glad to see you getting into the Fighting Falcon spirit!
  14. Thanks! I looked up Elgin MOA specifically and found information that mentions that it is indeed regularly used for ACM training.
  15. What part of the NTTR is designated for air to air training? I have seen the 476th vFG NTTR mission and documents which has the designated bombing ranges but could not find any information on air to air ranges.
  16. Great flying Cap'n Penguin and congrats! It is quite the achievement and you should be very proud!
  17. That is what I was using the CH Control Manager for but couldn't even get calibration to work properly. The program would stop responding frequently.
  18. Ha! You guys certainly did...I will listen next time! At least this will serve as a lesson to others though who are considering which HOTAS to buy.
  19. I tried all the CH stuff tonight for the first time. I didn't like the throttle or stick at all. The buttons and ergonomics are great but the feel/sensitivity of each axis while flying in DCS just wasn't right. Also, I suffered from the well known jitters in the throttle and stick axis and for some reason, the throttle had a full range of travel physically, but would only register between 10% and 90% in Windows and the CH software calibration. The software does not work well in Windows 10 either. I gave it a try but will be returning all of it tomorrow.
  20. Well, I bought the CH stuff and tried it all out tonight for the first time. I didn't like the throttle or stick at all. I will be purchasing a Thrustmaster Warthog stick, TWCS throttle, and TFRP rudder pedals. I don't know why I just didn't do this to begin with.
  21. To those who attended, was Wags able to show off any of the upcoming aircraft and maps?
  22. Wow, that is exciting! I have always been impressed with A2A. I had their Cessna 172 for FSX. They are known for their high quality and realism and could bring amazing stuff to DCS!
  23. Non-VR here but I am seeing a performance increase as well...about 20 FPS on average. Thank you ED!!!
  24. F-16N... No, ED will only be developing the F-16CM Block 50 Adversary paint schemes... I am certain that the talented members of this community will create these paint schemes once the paint kit is released.
  25. That is insane! You can buy the Warthog stick (includes the base), for $200 on Amazon right now. Why wouldn't they include the base? This is just being marketed to previous Warthog owners and inflating the price?
