It seems the Devs have gone back a few patches cut and paste to how it was , when you were forced to have these black blobs flying around. If I remember can this be turned off in config file . Has anyone tried Or did that not work last time . ???

Stopped supporting DCS maybe around COVID . I really wanted the phantom but now the server's are empty of it , I hardly see one now . Strange to be honest with all the melt down over 24 hour delay. Servers flown: enigma, Cont 80s, Hoggit, Blue flag , Grey flag , Rottor heads, Overlord, now empty , well last time I checked few weeks back . Looking forward to : IL-2 KOREA , COMBAT PILOT , BMS , MSFS , STAR CITIZEN VR , And a new VR headset with 15% off so I can see targets , Which I'll never afford .

Not updated to new patch , not been playing DCS . I'm replying to quotes. And I hear the new patch has gone back to big black blobs . Which no one likes .

No offense sharp but are you a pilot , sat in any cockpit in real life flying . Or landed gliders or push props , sat in c130 or sat in any helicopter flying low level , sat for hours in cockpits night time or day time . Watching the world gone by , in real life . Not 2D . The human eye is remarkable , but I don't see <profanity>e in DCS in VR . 2D yes I see you coming over that hill . Nice black dot . 42 pages and counting .

Because some say it's not realistic. DCS is old game engine made it look nice but didn't develop for 2016 computer. They are hard at work making train sets and pilot body and cows and sheep . But miss the real problems or close eyes and ears and see nothing here , lol .

2.9 brought in new shaders and shadows and has severely screwed things up . May look nice on YouTube but reality is no one can see anything. Guns only servers are dead . Squadrons have collapsed and long time content creator's have stopped. Roll on vulkan and if you screw this up ED well I think your feel the blow . New combat simulators are coming with full VR support. No point having nice cockpit if you can't see outside .

Tried both options old spotting and the new spotting in VR . I see no difference in this opinion.

You are in a flat screen . You wont see any of this in VR . EWR Call outs at 10km I don't see it , call outs at 5km still don't see it . I see gun tracer firing at me and yet no aircraft until right on top of you . Others have also stated the same experiences. I've lowered resolution on my headset to simulate a Rift-S . I've higher my Resolution to simulate a pico4 x 2160 . And still testing , Yet fire up other combat flight sims , no problems seeing them targets . So this is not my headset its a DCS thing . Yes reshade now works in VR . And NO i cant get XRNS to work i have latest 5a i think . self install . DCS crashes if XRNS is installed .

Been play this sim for years and years started VR about two years ago maybe three . Amazing cockpits and yes i could spot that contact knowing where to look EWR and radar but still was harder without knowing where too look but like you , its now impossible . And people think we are making this dog up . WWII server is empty 8 players , 3 players , 14 players , on a Sunday, man that server was full , sometimes i had to wait for a slot . Now its dead . I've even uninstalled the Normandy map . This spotting bug is making this so called sim unplayable for me , now I'm uninstalling maps as the servers are empty .

Sharpe you are not in VR . You have a completely different setup .

I'm confused by your reply . You haven't fired it up in 2D ..??? Had the same thing i uninstalled reshade , then did a clean and repair of DCS . removing any files that should not be there , then reinstalled reshade .I then got the two options .

Looking at some popular guns only servers they have lost quite a few players. I fly 90% online in competitive servers , and I hear people on SRS , all the time saying that can't see the targets. Mostly VR users. As the saying goes "go woke go broke .

So I've been playing around with the different settings in VR , any upscale like DLSS or alike reduces the spotting you won't see anything until right on top of you and has already made a pass with guns . Yea that close . Best option is MSAA x 2 . For me . If turned off , I think the game looks awful. So I need MSAA . Reshade 6 is working in VR . XRNS still not working with new updates. Another good VR mod disabled.

This has been in DCS for years , vapor trail's disappear and reappears using zoom function. It's never been fixed .

Ok do uninstall of reshade . And then do clean up of DCS and repair. Delete all files on clean up. Reshade . Start dcs, close down once run . Reinstall reshade latest version. Tick dx11 and openxr Effects vrtoolkit and the top two default. Open home page add-on tab hopefully your get the two options to sys . First time I tried I didn't get two sys options , and reshade didn't work in VR. That all I can say .

Is BS3 on discount if you own BS1 and BS2 . I really don't want to own three black sharks.

Have you assigned a key bind for effects on and off . I use scroll lock key . And have you ticked the two add-on sysc. Next to home tab . This what is needed.

Yes got this working , few days ago . Look at Slughead post i followed that . However make sure you tick dX11 and openXR . and choose VR toolkit and some effects i left default ones . Home page will only show on flat screen not in VR remove headset to adjust effects . i used fake HDR as this cleans up the fog in DCS .

There is a problem with spotting there are pages and pages of it . Some say its good now more say its not . And most people that play completive , play on flat screen and with trackir . VR looks amazing sat in cockpit but the out side world in dcs does not represent what we see with our own eyes in real life . What im saying here is , 2.9 has some sort of fog and light source surrounding your world environment in VR , its blurry and messy . At 1km i should be able to see a contact that hovering at 1000m against a clear blue sky , Yet i cant . Defend DCS all you want , it just means no more money from me its that simple . Things just don't get fixed that are important to the community or shall i say it me . How long has this spotting topic been going on . !!!! Yet fire up another sim and just look at that i can see all . DCS should not be at this state , at $80 for a module yet pages and pages of complaints . You are wasting time and resources on things that no one asked for . We didn't ask for pilot reworks , we didn't ask for mission make overs . We didn't ask for Cows or sheep and train spotting . Start to listen to your community .
