  1. Good news to hear, but i am surprised many of you have not bothered with the very well made iads scripts that have been around for use for a good while.
  2. For me its the Weather that needs the most help: Here's why... to start just a vertical weather physics model would do wonders: with wet/dry/standard lapse rates, ground heating we could get procedurally generated stratus clouds, mutliple layers of clouds, rain, virga, hail, icing, cumulus clouds, towering cumulus, anvils, cirrus, a mix of the above. We would alos get inversion layers, wind shears, procedurally generated vapor effects of aircraft based on this alone - this would of course let you generate vapor shock cones dynamically. just imagine flying in missions with towering cumulus clouds with in inbedded weather, rain under them, all the while the sun shining and making shadows and dark areas. Or fog. just with a basic vertical model not even a weather system model you could do all that. it would change the core of the sim, and in an amazing way. No one would ever go anywhere else to fly in a sim. Devs, get it started! small steps and keep building it up. This will solve issues with the current puff ball clouds, vapor effects on aircraft and the need to make the atmosphere a real world sim, not what we have now - which is great and all but its like flying in test all the time. the winds are weak, turbulence is low level only, rain is weak, clouds are. well lets not comment there, humidity is not even around at all! due point? what is that... the creation of a vertical weather model as a base to weather in general would be a game changer. I hope that this gets addressed soon as it affects every single player in the sim. sim people are used to not even dealing with weather and imo have grown accustomed to not having it around, and do not know what they are missing out on. If DCS makes a decent vertical weather model, it would out shine any other effort. All the aircraft would be much more exciting to fly, all the maps would be as well, everything would get a new experience. Imo things - issues that affect everything in the sim should take priority to the few [modules, maps, Ai modules, vehicles, ships, missiles & bombs etc.]
  3. By 36,000ft you really mean to say the tropopause in a std atmosphere. Because unless the earth is flat, it's altitude varies significantly. From the low side of the 20's up to the 40's depends where you are, the airmass you are in, and whether you're flying thru or across a jet stream. It varies in DCS as well, and the default mission settings are standard for pressure they are not standard for the lapse rate, for a standard lapse rate you have to set it 15'C. In DCS you can vary to a small degree surface temperature and you have a lot of leeway in the pressure - those will give you your atmosphere in DCS. Regrettably there is no weather physics engine in DCS [yet] to work out rain, humidity, clouds (cloud formations like CB's, fog, stratus, cumulus), vapor effects, icing, hail, rain & winds, windshears, downdrafts. It would be truly amazing for the DCS engine to actually run more than just standard lapse rates, but more like dry & wet adiabatic rates & saturation rates, A humidity model as well as pressure to make some resemblance to actual weather; but we have what we have. Here's hoping Wags sees this and chimes in letting us know what the future holds :P For a start a good vertical weather engine would be awesome! just vertical you could do so much with that, think of it - some actual procedurally generated clouds, inversions, fog, rain, icing, virga! that could actually look like clouds, not these 'things' we have now. i'd recommend for testing you know what the atmosphere is like 1st for your test. either run an adiabatic lapse rate to find it, or maybe there is a module that has OAT working, either way lots of ways to do this. Or the simplest make sure you run a standard atmosphere where yeah 36000' is the tropopause, make sure you ahve set 29.92Hg or 1013.25Hpa for your pressure and 15'C as your temp and you have you std atmosphere. just remember the tropopause is an optimum place for the engines [not the aircraft] as general rule, but FF is more directly related to the specific mass of the air passing thru so going higher will affect it, just with the loss that the inlet temp is no longer in your favor.
  4. The atmosphere has been tested time and time again, its spot on. If you think not, actually provide data to show otherwise, making stuff up makes this conversation meaningless.
  5. All this talk about thrust -to- weight. Guys, talking T/W is fine as long as you remember the weight(in our case we'll call it force of gravity) is only one force to be reconciled with. Case in point T/W ratio is useless in talking about sustained turn rates - its all about T/D. If you want to talk acceleration then you need to find the resultant force from ALL the forces acting on the plane. For example a vertical climb... there is no lift in the vertical, there is gravity and drag against thrust. You are not accelerating anywhere in a vertical climb unless your thrust exceeds drag and gravity. In a horizontal acceleration gravity is neutral but must be cancelled out by lift which creates its own drag, added to the other classes of drag which in sum must be exceeded by the thrust. T/W ratios are just relative terms used for general comparisons, but it does not really give you anything to work with in the end. Thrust vs the weight of the engine itself is useful, but again is limited when you start to try to gain insight into plane performance.
  6. Offsets are used for running a parallel to your Flightplan track, not for extending a track. Not sure why you would use offset to run an approach, easier and better ways of doing that.
  7. Was wondering when a proper Mig-17 Ai would come to DCS so I don't need to use Opfor Sabres' as poor stand-ins in the ME.
  8. My windows10 detected a trojan during my torrent update to 2.9.8.81: Trojan:Script/Foretype.A!ml affected file: file: F:\DCS World Master folder\DCS World OpenBeta\_downloads\.torrents\NEVADA_terrain.common\40\40d60dc8e61d82a222450845c79f5bd85639f11ebd01429c0eb3989896af68f4 I am not an expert in these systems so i have allowed windows to kill it. Posting for Devs, and others who may have had similar issues.
  9. Since the plane is new, i figured to add this bug report. Though minor i believe this may be bugged in some other aircraft as well - I did not check however. Most (All that I know of irl) aircraft have their Flags painted on their sides as if it was a 'real' flag waving through the air - For example: The US flag - the stars will always appear on the up wind side of the flag decal (towards the nose). I noticed the KC-135 MPRS flag for US Nation livery on the starboard side is a copy paste of the port side and flying backwards into the wind. Minor point I know, but since attention is paid to detail in DCS wanted to share this. please feel free to reference any irl photo and you will see what i mean. Cheers all. All the hard work is always appreciated.
  10. *bump - awesome idea! Also: Its seems as far as my observations that the Boom+basket has two issues. 1. the collision model of the basket is slightly off. and 2. More grave of an issue is how once connected the behavior of the boom is seems erratic just after connection and tracks too slowly the plane.
  11. Lmao... I am a caveman. I got it figured out!
  12. title says it all.... maybe its just me. If not hopefully someone can direct me in the right direction. Thank you.
  13. Hope for the future of more interesting ECM! thx ggtharos,
  14. About how much free disk space will be needed on my drive to do stage1 ? I have both 1.5.7 & 2.2 The reason i ask is that i have only 25GB free on my ssd drive. I have no reason to keep 1.5.8 after install, is there an option to NOT keep it? my 2.2+1.5.7 are pushing on 130GB already.
  15. Not angry at all. I appreciate anti-fraud, I've experienced fraud in the past. I was curious if i was an odd case, since i have purchase many modules already, through BoA and nothing - and wanted to send out a feeler if there were others. Thx for the responses
  16. Just putting this out, For the first time, and after many purchases from DCS with no issue i had my credit card restricted after i purchased the Harrier module. After talking with my bank they were more than cryptic as to explain why. Only that this transaction triggered an event, mixing talk about "law enforcement alert" "fraud alert" and "credit card information merchant theft" ... after 10 minutes of asking they explained nothing, though i got my card back to active. This was Bank of America. Has anyone else had this issue?
  17. +1 for the OP.
  18. So.. i apparently have issues with my power shell: So for others who may also have issues i recommend using skatezillas GUI app. worked perfectly for me - here is the link: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030
  19. This does not seem to work for FC3 owners - Anyway someone can post the manual?
  20. I have an unexpected work schedule... I cannot participate. callsign: warrior 1-6 'reaver' apologies for the late notice. Hopefully someone can fill in my slot. I'll try again next event, i was really looking forward to this. Good luck all, have fun.
  21. Rage... I personally feel the exploit over the radar and its R3R's a fairly large issue for me - because i have been encountering it a lot lately. Now if people would not exploit it, no problem...But... They do. There seems to be two camps: 1. people unaware that it is an exploit because they do not know any better, and 2. there are the people who are knowledgeable enough to know better, but prefer to lay the blame on the receivers of the said exploit, because its 'their' problem if they play thinking the mig-21 cannot look-down and lock as well as shoot radar missiles toward the ground from high above to NOE flying aircraft, or even go so far as to think its their problem because they are getting hit by these missiles, regardless of whether their plane even has the ability to detect a radar lock or not. the first group is forgivable but the second have no character, and in my book are no different than cheaters. Get a large enough group of cheaters not held in check and they ruin the environment for everyone. This can really only be solved by action from the devs, and ED, as there is no known character test for a PvP environment. If cheaters become too prevalent then it poisons the environment, if they are rare, a better environment thrives and looks down upon them, making them go elsewhere - generally. I love the mig-21, i would recommend placing broken systems in an "offline" state until they are repaired to a better level. No harm would come, and I think it would be healthier than the current situation where its become a bit "mired".
  22. You make a good point, and i agree. However, for me this is a major exploit. It allows the mig-21 to behave like an AESA equipped F-15. I enjoy playing PvP all over the place, just not with this particular exploit anymore, since i am more aware of what has happened.
  23. After reading the posts. I simply will not play with or vs. mig-21's on a multiplayer server. Simple, for me.
