I'm a casual DCS player and have been enjoying the sim with my trusty xbox controller. I fly mostly the F16 and F18. But wanted to get into helicopters next and the AH-64D has peaked my interest for quite awhile. But I'm mainly concerned that since operating a heli is much different from a jet. Would I still be able to enjoy this module with a controller?

@609_Relentov thanks so much! I will give this a try. Will this work with the latest DCS 2.9.4?

So it's not possible to set up a scenario in the mission editor to have both? Using the ME sounds like the best solution for me to create my dream scenario then. I just want to be able to take off and blow and shoot down a bunch of enemies, both ground and air. What's the best loadout you recommend for air to air and also air to ground? Best meaning, easiest and most efficient to use. Something that's more SMART and automated that is.

I mainly use the F16 and F18 modules and would like to know besides the instant buttons on the main menu. Are there better ways to go about getting into the game quickly? I'm a very casual player and don't care much about flying by the book. I just want to load up, take off and get straight into shooting/bombing enemy planes, tanks, boats, etc. I don't like using the quick instant presets and would like to be able to customize certain aspects before I start. Such as setting the time, weather, location, types of enemies, etc. I would like to use it for training purposes. Such as the AI enemies skill level is very dumbed down as it to not make it too difficult for a beginner and have a team of AI pilots backing me up. Is this possible? I want plenty of non-stop action happening. I don't understand a lot of the military lingo. What are all these mission types such as CAS, CAP, etc mean? I just want to go in and blow up and shoot down every enemy I see.

Best SSD to use for Dcs
maverick90 replied to bartdude300's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I would like to refresh this topic as I am also considering of purchasing an SSD for my current DCS install. I currently have it on a HDD and I am always getting random stutters during flight. It doesn't seem to happen when I'm parked on the ground though. So I'm thinking that DCS is constantly loading in data while flying and that could be the culprit of the random stutters. I heard from some here that getting a regular 2.5" SSD is good for DCS and that I won't benefit much if at all from getting an NVME m2 SSD. Is this right? Can you guys recommend a good Samsung SSD for me? I have an i9-10900k with an ASUS ROG Maximus Hero motherboard. I already have a 1TB nvme for my main OS drive. -
Currently on DCS OpenWorld Beta v2.9.4 and have tried both the MT and non-MT executable. But made no difference. I am still getting random stutters through out flight. I think I have a pretty decent system to run DCS on. My specs are as follows: Windows 10 Pro 64bit, 64GB RAM, RTX 3090, i9-10900k. I am playing in 4K. I have tried setting the game to DLSS, Quality, etc and a combination of settings, but still for the life of me can't figure out why I am getting these random stutters. Is it because I have the game installed on a physical HDD?

I thought this issue has been recognized by the devs and that it was fixed? I haven't played DCS for years. I was on v2.7 and the problem still existed, and then just recently updated to DCS OpenBeta 2.9.4 and the problem with the HUD still persists. Not sure if this issue is related to the plane itself, as I also see the same thing when flying the F-16. The HUD elements, fonts, lines are all really thick when using a resolution of 4K. I've watched a lot of videos of users playing DCS on YouTube and the HUD looks really sharp and crisp. I've tried many things that some suggested such as turning down the brightness, and that doesn't fix it either. This ruins the sim for me, as the HUD is something you always look at and it's quite annoying when it looks out of place compared to the rest of the sim.

getMissionnode nodeIds is missing errors
maverick90 replied to maverick90's topic in Bugs and Problems
So how can I set it to do a free roam flight at night then? I see youtube videos of people flying around this map during the night and I would like to do the same. -
Every time I try to create a fast mission on this map, it gives me this error. Any ideas whats wrong? I am using the latest version of DCS World 2.7 OpenBeta. It doesn't seem to be an issue with other maps.

reported Larger, blurry HUD and DDI fonts
maverick90 replied to Bullant's topic in Bugs and Problems
I really don't understand why they're not fixing this issue. Can it be that complicated to fix??? I've been holding off on playing the game for the past month or more now because I can't read the fonts at all. This is a huge issue for 4K players and yet updates after updates, I still don't see a fix. Sigh. I purchased this plane and I can't even use it due to this issue. What a waste of money. -

Still looks the same to me, nothing has been fixed. Still a big, thick blurry mess. Sigh. -

Really? Could someone post screenshots? I would like to have an official fix from the developers themselves though. -

Sigh, still not fixed yet? How hard can it be? -

I really hope that this fix will come in the next update, which is today. Fingers crossed! -

For me it's unplayable because it's so hard to read the fonts on the DDI screen and HUD for me because they're too thick and blurry. So for me and others, I think this is a pretty high priority fix. -

Sigh, this still hasn't been fixed in the latest update. Are you guys ever going to address this? -

Yes, exactly. I have held off using the F18C hornet until this issues has been fixed. It's really distracting not being able to clearly read the screens. -

Sigh, new update came out today and I was hoping ED would address the fix, but nothing. :( This issue should be prioritized higher up the list because it seems that people who run the game in very high resolutions like myself are having difficulty reading the HUD and DDI screens. -

I hope the address this issue soon because it's difficult reading the words on the DDI's at 4K. I'm playing on a 55 inch 4K TV, things should be sharp and easy to read. But currently its a big thick, blurry mess. :( -

I believe this issue affects those who are running resolutions higher than 1440p -

I really hope they fix this issue soon, it's also apparent in the 3 screens in the cockpit as well. Everything is too thick. -

Yes, I'm running at 4K here, and i think the higher you go up, the more prominent and worse it looks. -

Yes, this is definitely a problem and turning down the brightness doesn't resolve the issue, it still looks bad. Glad that the devs acknowledged this and hopefully will see a fix for this soon! -

Exactly, 2nd pic looks better and more realistic.
