  1. The crashes are likely caused by SweetFX, which is very sad, since I like the effect of SweetFX on DCS... It is really a sweet mod... Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions.
  2. Most likely you are right, as I haven't had a single crash since I removed sweetfx :( Damn it...
  3. I so hope that you are wrong...:helpsmilie: After trying out sweetfx, I cannot fly without it... The original DCS graphics quality is now unbearable to me... Oh the lack of contrast :( But I will try flying without it anyway. Thanks for your suggestion!
  4. After reinstalling DX9 and removing the saved game folder, I tried a mission twice. It crashed the first time, and ran OK for the second time. The differences between the two times are that: HDR was off while PeterP's HDR mod was on the first time, and HDR was set to normal while PeterP's HDR mod was off the second time. Now that I think about it, I don't know why I did that.
  5. Just tried that... Will report back. I repaired and then loaded the mods, I think... Because I am sure the mods were on when I flew..
  6. It is a single player mission. That's why the sudden message that the runway is occupied is weird... But it could be that the AI craft, which there is only one, was trying to land at the same base? I don't know... Most of the crashes that I have had take place when I tried to land, or have my nose pointed at the ground, including the one that I reported in this thread. But there have been also a few random ones that I haven't reported.
  7. I have been having a lot of crashes... Here is the recent one, which is a weird one. I was trying to land. Having requested landing from the tower, I was told that the runway was cleared for landing. But soon before I could actually land, I was told that the runway was occupied, and I had to fly around. Immediately after that, I was told again that it was cleared for landing. Then the game crashed. I fly Su-27 with the latest updates. My system OS is windows 7 ultimate, with 8GB of memory and GTX 680 2GB. The resolution is a single screen of 1080P. I flew with SweetFX, PeterP's HDR mod and Mustang's HD cockpit mod. I ran DCS repair right before the mission. Here's the crash report: The log files will follow. I have also attached the dump file. Thanks.
  8. Just had a few more crashes. Most of them happen during landing, or when nose down toward the ground, in other words, when a lot of ground textures need to be loaded. I still suspect that the lack of memory is the cause... I have unloaded all ground mods, in fact all mods except the SweetFX which I cannot fly without... Will see if there will be any further crashing. However, there also other occasions in which crashing takes place. So who knows.
  9. I should clarify by saying that I was maneuvering while maintaining a lock on the F14... If I don't care about keeping the lock, maybe I could defeat AIM-54C anyway... Will try that.
  10. LOL although it should be a sad thing for Russian aircraft pilots instead of funny...
  11. Vital piece of information... Thanks a lot for that!
  12. I've been fighting BVR with an F14 armed with AIM-54C and AIM-7M. I now can defeat it easily, knowing how AIM-54C behaves. BUT, MAN! Isn't AIM-54C a mighty weapon? The tacview record shows that it can be launched from practically infinity, and what's worse, its launch is undetectable until the moment its onboard radar is activated. Had I remained flying a straight route before this point, I would not be able to shake it off no matter how I manuvered. The ONLY way that I so far have found to defeat it is to fly nose down AND banked around 20 degrees from the VERY BEGINNING! In this way, when its onboard radar is activated, its energy is low enough for me to shake it off relatively easily. I found that AIM-54C is much more difficult to defeat than an AIM-120C. In the latter case, I could start manuvering only from the point at which a launch warning was given by my RWS. Had I done this with an AIM-54C, I am dead meat. I am a bit lost... Since I cannot always know if an NATO aircraft is armed with AIM-54C or its likes before hand, it seems that the safe way to go is to fly nose down and banked from the beginning WHENEVER I am facing a NATO aircraft which can POTENTIALLY be armed with this weapon. Is that so? Are their any more ways of defeating AIM-54C without the need of banking and lowering my nose from the beginning? Is there any way to detect the launch of an AIM-54C before its onboard radar is activated? I have looked in the manual, but very little is said about it there. Only its name was mentioned a few times. So, what are your suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  13. Thanks for your answer! Yes, I did run those tests when I oced my system.. mem and cpu tests both. My system is pretty damn stable, so far at least... What I saw the other day was that, while 5GB of memory is occupied, almost all the rest of the 8GB are standing by. I am not sure if the occupied + required-standing-by exceeds 8GB, what is going to happen. I suspect that the game will crash? I could be wrong. But after the latest DCS update, the game seems a lot more stable. Thanks for your answer! In the end, I purchased another 2X4GB kit (together with the saitek rudder pedals,), of the exact same model that I have in my rig, because it is on sale on Amazon. I intend to OC them to the same degree as my current memory. I'll have to see it the additional memory will destablize my system. Thanks again guys! Let's :joystick:
  14. Hi All, The other day I checked the memory usage in DCS. Out of 8GB, 5.XX is occupied, and the rest is standing by... I sucspect that this is the reason for the quite often crashes of DCS. So I know that the next upgrade of my rig is imminent. I have now 2X4G of Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1866 ram sticks in dual channel. I intend to purchase 2X8G of the same model, and to set them up in the other two memory slots, so in dual channel, too. My question is, will the different memory sizes cause any trouble? FYI, I have slightly OCed my current memory sticks. Thanks for your responses in advance. Regards, GQ
  15. Hi Mustang, somehow I cannot download the file... I cannot pass the page in which ediafire asks me to key in verification. Can you share the file on some other cloud storage, please? Thanks in advance. Nvm. It fixed itself. Thanks.
  16. Just so I know, have these been acknowledged as problems/bugs of the program, so that I can expect corrections to them in future updates? Or do you, E.D. and its tester-team, that is, consider these user errors or something else that do not require corrections from your side? Thanks.
  17. I am using IE... I used to use chrome, though. Ever since I saw how easy it was to view stored passwords in chrome, I immediately stopped using it. Plus, chrome eats up to much of RAM on my poor 8GB desktop.
  18. Hi Kuky, Do I need to delete the line input.read_rate = 120 before I add the new lines, which are if not input then input = {} end input.use_read_thread = false ? And is the blank line in between them important? Thank you! Cheers
