Flaming Cliff 3 Individual Modules ever coming to Steam?
blackbelter replied to Phonix644's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
We FC3 owners are also waiting... for the AFM to arrive. -
Sorry, but I was referring to my experience with Su-27. I haven't tried F15 yet...
-
Fully agree with that. Even if I snapview at the HUD, part of the information can still be missing. Regarding this, what you can do is to move your head a little farther from the screen than you like, press F12 (to center your view in TrackIR), and then sit in your comfortable position. You get the idea.

Head tracking takes a bit of getting use to. I still remember the first few times that I put on my self-made freetrack clip. My field of view was jinking so violently that I couldn't see anything. After a few rounds, however, head tracking becomes an indispensable leisure to use.

Two compaints about FC3 I have two complaints. Firstly, the gunsight is off. I don't know about other planes, but that of Su-27 is definitely off. I have had targets flying level with no maneuver whatsoever, and I have had it right at the center of my gunsight. Yet none of my bullet hit the target. Please refer to the attached trk file, which is a little mission that I made for myself for practising defensive BFMs. Note especially the first and the last of my shots. Secondly, the F16 tends to commit suicides... It just hits the ground far too often. I have used a few AI crafts for practising offensive BFMs, among them F14A, F15C, F16 A and C, F18, and Mirage 2000. Only F16 (both models) does this. Please tweak something there... That's all for now. Thank you! Cheers Defensive BFM 3 Gunsight off Nov2-2013.trk

GFX card price drops

My framerate has been killed by mods... from ~100 to ~60, and from ~60 to ~50... Just have to figure out which one did it. -

I am holding out purchasing another 2GB 680 to set up SLI. The reason is that I fear that 2GB of graphical memory won't cut it for EDGE. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance. -
Thank you! It looks much better now!

Improved Towns & Villages Mod
blackbelter replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I've come to say thank you. Thank you! -
I think it is great the way it is. We first have FC3 and its predecessors, in which we are rid of most of the buttons and switchs, and are left with the most basic and essential controls. In this way we can focus on learning to fly, and to maneuver (where most fun lies. To me at least). Then there comes the official DCS module for each plane, with which we learn the full mechanics of the aircraft. To a newbie like me, spending hours on the ground just to learn to click buttons and switches in the correct order, without going to the sky, is the fastest way to turn one off.

Improved Towns & Villages Mod

Hi Ed, Is it correct to say that, if I first create the Barza\Terrain\vfstextures\LandTexturesAutumnOther (and other three folders for the other seasons) in the _Mod folder in the DCS directory (that is going to be used by JSGME), then copy all the extracted files to the corresponding newly created folders, I can simply enable these mods using JSGME? Is it still necessary then to create empty folders with the same names in DCS World\Bazar\Terrain\vfstextures? Thanks a lot. Looking forward to using your mods. Cheers -

How much does it affect FPS? It looks amazing, but would not be worth it if FPS gets too much of a hit... Thanks! -
I am running DCSW on a computer with 8G memory, in a fluid-like smooth manner. Maybe the bottleneck of your system is something else?

Well, you can still fly without the cockpit setup. You could still be an ace. -
DCS / Flaming Cliffs / DCS: Flaming Cliffs - what's what
blackbelter replied to JayPee's topic in Chit-Chat
FC3 is a module of DCSW. The aircrafts in FC3 are modeled on the level of LO/LOFC, but it gets to enjoy flying alongside the other planes (A10-C etc) of DCSW, as well as the better visuals offered in DCSW. FC: DCS modules are extracted from FC3, so that people don't have to buy the whole FC3 package in order to enjoy a particular FC3 plane, so they are cheaper. They are also modules installed in DCSW, just like FC3. Nevertheless, I think a discussion on the definition of arcade is quite relevant here... Although I am not gonna start it LOL -

Violent change of view using TrackIR 5 Pro
blackbelter replied to blackbelter's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks guys. Will test it out tonight! -
Hey commrades. I have had this issue for quite a while now. Whenever I look down or up beyond certain angle, TrackIR goes crazy, and jumps to a weird view. The problem here is that it 'jumps', and does not change me view continuously. This has caused my to panic, and has cost me a few lives during aircombat. Anybody has had this experience before? Do you guys have a solution? BTW, I am running 1.2.6 with the latest update. Thanks in advance.

New R331 Game Ready Driver from Nvidia??
blackbelter replied to VanjaB's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Installed it, and went for a spin in Su-27 (with the latest DCS update). Didn't feel any difference. But since mine has always been silk smooth, I didn't expect any surprise anyway. -
To digress more, after watching the documentary Jetstream, I am also in love with F18. Sorry OP.
