  1. Just like most of you, I am desperately waiting for DCS: Fast Movers. :helpsmilie: But let's face the fact (or my mere speculations?). The DCS community alone is not large enough to bring in profits to ED in order for it to survive. It is built into the nature of a company who only produces highly detailed military aircraft simulations: considering its potential time- and money- (think hardware) investments required to master the game, its user base will never be as big as that of more casual games. So, naturally, ED has to seek other means of profit-makings. Here I am thinking of those projects in which ED develop A/C simulations for other companies or the military. DCS: A10-C is a byproduct of one of such projects. Another is the Su-35 simulator that some of us have seen pictures of. That looked awesome. I think this explains why the on-going DCS project are evolving so slowly. And I don't expect the situation to change drastically any time soon. Future DCS projects will probably come out just as slowly, if not more so. But one can hardly argue against such a trend. For one thing, it has brought us A10-C, and has hope of bringing us more awesome stuffs. It is unlikely for ED to obtain such detailed information of a modern aircraft were it not for such external projects. More importantly, it has kept ED alive for all these years (not that I know how much profit ED can make from DCS. These are my speculations, mind you :D). So one has to choose between two versions of ED: one who spends all its resources on DCS and brings out a lot of modules, but dies eventually because DCS cannot make enough profits; the other ED spends quite some time on external projects, slows down the development of DCS, but stays alive, keeps the development of DCS going, and with the knowledge gained from its external projects, is capable of making even more detailed stuffs. I personally would opt for the latter. :smartass:
  2. Why do you think ED is still putting a lot of effort into 1.2.7? :D EDGE is coming, yes, but DCS still need the the current engine to be freely available. It is probably the first taste of DCS for a new player, so it is essential that it works fine. Not saying this thread has anything to do with this. :smartass:
  3. @Dudester22, I see... I just got one negative rep by asking the question in this thread :D Don't take it too seriously, though... People like to judge.
  4. @Dudester22, click User CP at the top of the webpage, you can see there you received your reputation for what reasons...
  5. @OP, what happened to your reputation... Sorry for the digression, but I am curious to see this kind of things... Also, some users are being banned. I wonder why...
  6. Occasionally, there are certain adavantages using ie instead of other web browsers... This is such an occasion:lol:
  7. Not a new issue I think. I have reported in the fc3 bug thread here the same issue for 1.2.6. I have also attached a trk file.
  8. Of course ED will not be jealous, because DCS will win:megalol: Just kidding. Best of luck.
  9. It's becoming more confusing to me... I have i5-3570K, which does not support hyper-threading, and which has 4 cores: 0, 1, 2, 3. I take it that since there is no hyper-threading, all cores are physical, each core occupies a single die, and it doesn't matter to which cores I set the affinity of DCS? Sorry for my ignorance, and thanks again.
  10. I have i5-3570K. Thanks for clarifying that. Will try again.
  11. Thanks for the quick reply @SkateZilla. I was doing it in task manager... I set it to cores 1 and 3 since I read in this thread that 1,3 or 0,2 are on the same die. Isn't that the case? Thanks.
  12. I tried to set the cpu affinity of DCS to two cores (1 and 3). I didn't look at FPS, but the sound actually stuttered quite a few times. Also, when I tried to set the priority to real-time, it says that it can't b done. Instead, it was set to high. Any idea? Thanks.
  13. Did you install the afterburner detent, like in this video: That may explain why you can't push the throttle all the way. You have to lift it up a little in order to use afterburner.
  14. BTW, @OP, if you are really into flight simulation, you will have to upgrade your pc specs eventually. Having a great control setup, but not having a smooth and enjoyable flying experience (which can be brought about only by a good pc), seems counter productive to me. So I would suggest you to either stick to Black Shark and build your controls, or to upgrade your pc and go for DCSW. Either way you can enjoy a smooth flying experience, instead of a pretty but constantly stuttering view. After all, there is no such thing as realism if the view is not even smooth (for the most part, at least...).
  15. I guess he meant those training videos... I don't think there are training missions for FC3 planes. All we have are training videos, which undoubtedly are of low quality... I agree with OP that interactive training missions such as those for Su-25T are long overdue for FC3..
  16. In trying to connect, I (Su-33) accidentally touched the tail of the tanker. There was noice indicating that there was touching, but other than that, no harm done. But guess what? The tanker ran away from me faster than a rabbit
  17. I don't think there is such a thing as absolute minimum specs... It all depends on how well you perceive the game at low quality... Your specs isn't too low. If everything is set to low, I am sure you can get reasonable FPS provided there are not too many things happening. But some people may consider the quality at such settings (everything at low) unbearable, some may not. The easiest thing to do is to download the free DCSW and try it out.
  18. It's already 2014 here in Singapore. Happy new year everybody!
  19. An announcement of DCS: Su-27 only brings more (years of) waiting and desperation... while Su-27 AFM is like a bird in the cage ;) Anyway, either one will be good news. It used to snow for a bit... But after a while, the snow on the north bridge jammed the traffic somewhere... So it had to stop.
  20. Can any of you do a Su-33 IFR, preferably with full-manual control, and attach your track here... I'd like to see the whole story unfold in front of my eyes... Thanks in advance! Happy 2014!
  21. Cuteness comes at a price :(
  22. cute :smartass:
  23. Happy New Year's Eve everybody. Still no AFM for Su-27 :joystick:
  24. @Pacotito, thanks for correcting me. Good to learn something new...
