Thanks ED: Excellent Customer Support
blackbelter replied to outlawal2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Russians Christmas is not on Dec 25th :D Anyway, way to go, ED! -
Try "clear category". Then of course you need to reassign each and every button. It worked for me IIRC.

Hi, please see the attached screenshot. The weird reflected image of the clouds is really bothersome... They disappear when close enough (when I can't see the reflections?) Not sure if this is really a bug, or if I messed up some settings... Any idea? Another little issue. See the attached screenshot of debriefing. The bandit pilot was dead, and then he ejected... Something isn't quite right there, is it? :D Thanks.

To all TrackIR user who wear spectacles, If you find your view in games are unstable, shakes involuntarily, read on... The other day I was experiencing this apparently weired shakiness. Without thinking too much, I went to disable the mouse control of view, because I thought that it was conflicting with TrackIR. I have experienced this before, and this fixed it the last time. But this time it did not... People have suggested that this may be due to some external IR light sources fooling the TrackIR camera. But when I looked around at my back, there is no external IR sources whatsever. For a moment, I started thinking supernatural... Then I took a close look at the camera view in TrackIR. To my surprise, it appeared that there indeed was another IR source! I then realized that it was the image of the pro clip refracted by my spectacles...... Knowing this, the cure was easy... Keep your pro clips as far away from your spectacles as possible, and place the camera somewhere it does not see the refracted image. I have seen other people experiencing this involuntary shaking of view with TrackIR, and I suspect that the cause could be something along these lines. Hope this can help someone someday. Cheers GQ

Btw, I couldn't feel the usefulness of the ECM system on Su-27...

This video looks very nice... But unfortunately it is not for me. For the past few days, I have been trying to duplicate what he did in the video, but almost with no success. For the (very) few times that I succeeded, Phoenix stupidly followed chaffs, which occurs rarely... I think now I have close to 100 deaths by Phoenix. It seems that without substantially reducing its energy by dragging it either down or in a zig-zag fashion, it is close to impossible to evade Phoenix. As someone has pointed out in this thread, it does not make sense keeping the lock on F14 at this distance. So I am free to do any maneuver, and defeating Phoenix suddenly becomes so easy... Just to clarify, for the few successes that I mentioned above, none of them was without substantial maneuvers before and during the course. So in this sense I have never succeeded in my trying. I suspect that, since the video was made with FC2(?), effectiveness of missiles such as Phoenix has been improved in FC3, and that may be the source of my frustration.. If possible, can some of you kind souls duplicate what happened in the youtube video, preferably in Su-27, and upload the trk file here? I would love to learn it... It seemed so easy, effortless, yet effective.

I too am having a hard time evading the Phoenix. I watched a youtube video, where a successful evasion was demonstrated. Then I try it myself. In case of failure, analyse, find the problem, then try again... so on and so forth. Hope this helps.

Another little thing that is too petty to open a separate thread for. When reviewing the train of events after an air-to-air combat, I saw that the bandit pilot was dead, then the engin was shutdown, then he ejected...... It was a F-15C that the bandit was flying, which, as far as I know, is a single seat aircraft... So I guess there is something there waiting to be fixed.

It was my fault... Now that I have reread your thread, you did recommend moving the folder before deleting it... But I have seen in numerous other places (including in your thread) that people simply say delete it, and since deleting it seems much easier than moving it... Anyway, I still think mentioning the consequences of deleting the folder is of bebefit to less experienced pilots such as myself. Just my 2 cents.

I managed to miss that bit of information

Two more crashes last night... No setting has been altered, and no new mod has been loaded since last week. So it seems that the stability of DCS indeed degrades with time, and it degrades pretty fast... Probably if I delete the saved game folder again, the game will stay stable for another brief period. I am OK with that, and will probably do that. But I can't help wondering why more elegant solutions have not been implemented. For example, DCS could automatically refresh the saved game folder. Or, even better, ED could track down the true cause of this 'degradation with time', and debug it once and for all. Knowing that it has to do with time and files in the saved game folder, and knowing that it happens on a lot of systems with varying configurations (system-independent, that is), it's hard to believe that it could be rocket science to figure out this one out. Anyway. One more thing. Last time I deleted the saved game folder, not knowing what I was doing, I lost my pilot log... Fortunately I started this 'career' not so long ago. So it might be helpful to remind people that certain things need to be backed up before taking this route @SiThSpAwN

A little F-15C AFM update - 7 December 2013
blackbelter replied to uboats's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
No word on the Su-27 AFM... More waiting... But still it's good news... I hope with all this experience, the development of Flanker's AFM will be much faster. -
Rest in peace, Mr. Mandela. Here is a song from my favorite band to Mr. Mandela. One of my favorite songs as well. Glorious days By Beyond The bell ring calls for home In his life Likely with a few sighs What black skin gives him Is to devote himself In the process of fighting for equality Time turns possession into losses But there is still hope in his tired eyes Today only empty body left To welcome glorious days Hold on to the freedom in the rain Hoping against hope for all his life He still believe he can make his own future Who can do as he did Can we forget the color of each other I hope on the land There is no inequality The beauty of rainbow consists in It is not separated

In my experience, DCS in windowed mode is exceptionally unstable... even in single player missions.

Somehow my problem is resolved... Please see my post at http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1939418&postcount=13 I don't know what to blame, though. Thanks SiThSpAwN for your help!

Hi there, I cannot say for sure now... It seems more complicated than that. The good news is that I am now flying with sweetfx enabled, without crashing. I have gone through a sequence of fiddling... First, I removed all other mods but sweetfx, and the game continues crashing. Then I followed SiThSpAwN's advice, which is to reinstall DX9 and remove the DCS folder in UserName\Saved Games; the game crashed during the first ride afterwards. I then followed your advice, which is to remove the only remaining mod sweetfx. The game stopped crashing, at least for the few hours that I had tested. The story didn't end here, however. I messed around with the settings in the Nvidia control panel, something that I hadn't done before. After altering a few settings, I suddenly had the idea that it could be the settings in Nvidia control panel that is causing all the problems. So I re-enabled sweetfx, and voila, the game does not crash anymore! So that's the story so far. I still cannot say for sure what was causing the problem. I might be able to say something about it when the next time DCS crashes... I planned to post the story here only then, but since you asked, here it is. Hope this helps. Cheers

Need some help with MiG-29 weapons systems.
blackbelter replied to Pajeezy's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
As far as I know, Mig-29 is pretty similar to Su-27 in many respects, including the weapon and control system. So you can simply watch the Su-27 tutorial. -

You can download the video tutorial from ED's official webpage... And then watch them.
