  1. Target P-51D TM Hotas Wartog Profile Here is my Target profile for the P-51. One .fcf Target file to run. Easy to edit at will in the gui. Bombs, guns and rockets. It gets the job done keyboard free with room to grow in the I layer. VR? DCS WORLD P-51D Target Profile.zip
  2. It's the "hold" Since that button is 3 position with the first position ON then the "Hold" in the statement is keeping it on until it releases from moving off the held position. Hold should be used on 2 position spring loaded switches that are normally open to be easily done although there are probably workarounds. Using the "pulse" instead of the "hold" is the way to go here and in most cases or better use the bottom section of the same button which functions like a normal 2 position spring loaded to off switch. In the Target GUI click the side of the button to see the lower half. drag and work with that to make it simple or use a different switch. "Hold" continues the action until release "Pulse" sends the command once and stops sending the command and so "pulse" will jettison stores yet not keep the Button in a "hold" and so. Hold is for gun triggers, zoom in slow zoom out slow and things that require you to hold a two position button (not 3) on until you are finished performing an action that requires it. Spring loaded to the off position is the best place to use "hold" and only if required. For irrecoverable things like jettisoning stores or opening canopies, I have been assigning some to a second layer activated by the S4 lever so I don't inadvertently do things I don't want in flight. So yes, the script with the "hold" is causing it. I believe. That switch is weird but normal. Another real easy solution is to simply use the bottom half of that switch instead. That way, there is no "pulse" or "hold" on start up and one could then use it as a "hold" and it should work fine since it releases when released. Use "hold" sparingly. I NEVER use Press and Release
  3. Because it is a two position button, there would be continuity at the top and bottom with middle being open, I would guess. Press halfway will be the release point. OMG. I just realized that I avoided the lower half probably because I looked at it A$$ backwards. I used the paddle S4 to shift just the top button to use it effectively. It's like a 3 position toggle switch spring loaded to the down position with two stages from there. Target can apply a function to the ON, OFF, OFF to ON, On TO Off. The switch is probably behaving normally. I'll have to fire up my other machine to test. Yes. I knew I had troubles exactly like that. I just ran and checked my sheets. My BF 109 + Spitfire is finished (not using the lower PENG or whatever the lower half is called) and both seem to work perfectly. My P-51 has only ONE bone of contention. I set the rockets/bombs switch to the bottom of the APDIS on the P-51 and it does not switch but activates APDIS instead of it's lower half. Thank you sir. Here's hoping I just needed to look at it differently. We'll switch things around and figure it out later today. The bottom line is, I would not fault the switch.
  4. Remember there are two buttons in one at that location. It messed me up for a minute. What happens in the lower half ( I forget the name, on office machine here) could affect your outcome if you push hard..
  5. I can't comment on the accuracy of the Spitfire but I for one Love it above all others. I commend the fact that it was released early and I am forever indebted to Eagle Dynamics and it's affiliates for bringing the early release of the Spitfire. Of course I await the further development of the Spit but if it were not in my hanger now, I would be missing a whole pile of smiles. I am sure some of your issues will be addressed over time.
  6. Easily done for sure or one can set up the "fly now" in target which I did for one. I don't forget often as I have used Target scripts elsewhere for well over a year. I forgot a lot at first. It will really be handy when it is just one version instead of 3. I think I will try that advice right directly. Thanks. I wonder, is anyone firing up the trackir within the same .bat file? Any problems this way?
  7. 3 Profiles built but on the 4th (with 2 aircraft with one on a layer seems to glitch from time to time at present ..debugging). I'll have to revisit that or just use one file per aircraft. decision made. One file will leave tons of extra buttons. I wonder if VAC and a decent headset would be cool to use for the radio commands. (more realism). More reading to do I guess.. Ok. I am officially addicted to DCS again after year or so off.
  8. It's all good. I just wanted to get a couple profiles up since I couldn't find anything simple that I totally understood. I felt since the OP was asking how to do it, I would elaborate with the simplest method I know of while using Target. I can read through the scripting and make some changes as I proved but most would not want to even look at the script. The script example were awesome btw. Had I not made the mistake of dragging the wrong switch into a Layer, I would not have had to visit the script at all. Drag and drop can in fact get a pretty decent script going. One certainly cannot do all things that way (confirmed) but so far, it can do whatever I require. I put my keyboard out of reach and found I could play mission after mission without touching it. THAT was my ultimate goal as well as having things where I want them. Home Fries' is the answer for some but I don't understand it although I used it and it is amazing. I probably followed Home Fries assignments pretty close since I used it for a long time that way. The work is appreciated. I can't imagine the hours invested. People Like Home Fries keep a lot of us in the SIM. Thank you sir! Traditionally (and I have been watching for a long time) if someone mentions Target they get hammered into the ground. Some have stepped up with help with target. That's pretty new. Good stuff. I am consistently amazed that people get that into it and make profiles like Home Fries. I understand the drive. Once you start with Target, you just want to do more and more and more. Scripting is the same, I am sure just with a different route to get there. My scripts are no where near as good but I understand every single thing about them and that alone gives huge peace of mind. I have tons of extra buttons remaining to add things later on using the layers. Anyone who would pick it up would see that it is one file easily edited in the Target GUI without having to visit any script or download and run any other software or jump a million hoops. I would encourage anyone to give it a go just for fun. Backup everything first. Set up one switch and you'll be hooked. My single file script exists outside DCS in totality. Mission accomplished. DCS is never changed other than my keyboard file adds some key bindings that are missing in DCS and I hand clear the key binds for the joystick and throttle and redo my axis settings in game. Thanks for all who helped now and over the years. Everyone had a part in getting me up to speed on this and it has been , literally, years. I tried and failed at Target so many times but when I decided to try just one switch, it finally clicked in. Target. You can so. Confirmed. That moment when you realize you forgot to fire up the target script before the game.. doh.
  9. Also could discuss the other profiles from myself there. Here is my BF-109 Target Profile. I am not convinced it doesn't need changes but it seems right. Edited changes to include ESC to Menu, Reset Trackir and hold PTT for teamspeak. It should be VR ready. No keyboard required once in. Testing Attached below: BF109K4Target.zip
  10. My Spitfire Profile My Spitfire Profile got posted and updated today here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3198372&postcount=179 We can discuss it here if you like.
  11. That is exactly how I used to do it right down to the exel file. I find they are not so "common" as well although I can get the joystick end of things identical or near so. I spent a few hours yesterday getting two the same as possible. That is a lot of work and surprisingly as LeCuvier states, not easy. If one makes the Target GUI full screen and then the print portion full screen one can copy and paste the graphical rendition into a "paint" program and edit it with a better font, makes notes on it, resize that to 750 x 1150 or so and put it in your kneeboard folder to be called up at will. It makes a throttle base, throttle top and joystick pic. I keep a wide variety of things on my kneeboard. The manual often finds itself open on the side monitor. Home Fries stuff is awesome and I have used it in the past and loved it. It really covers a lot of ground. My needs are much less and I want to maintain the ability to change my mind by making my own is all. Freedom is very important to me. Now I am free to make any changes I want because I took a week to learn how even though at every turn more and more folks from here said I should not do it. I have done it. I have been successful and no one has presented any valid argument not to learn how to make a Target script although a surprising amount of people have responded negatively regarding my efforts to do so. I find that a little odd to be honest. It's easy to go back if one saved his profiles in DCS first. Target scripts are not part of DCS World. A simple one like mine exists in one file outside of target. I can call up the old DCS profile anytime from within DCS (load profile) or I can run any number of Target scripts that add proper functionality to the switches. I simply saved the Target Profile within DCS I.E. with no bindings for the joystick and throttle and the axis set so if using Target I would load the DCS (empty) profile that I named target. The bottom line however is that there is no reason to go back. This is far better for my taste for sure and a more realistic SIM and definitely NOT more Game-like. NUFF said. Success has been achieved. Target works fine. Done deal. Naysayers can troll elsewhere now. sheesh. I was simply trying to share knowledge and methods Some great information came out and some hints of some secret great information available yet were dropped. I have determined that the Target hate here is indeed real and consistently perpetuated. All unfounded. Confirmed. Hey, someone had to say it.
  12. I can't see why wanting a switch to operate as off in the off position and on in the on position is using DCS's "gaming mode". Perhaps more accurately is that not using Target (or somehow going beyond what the stock DCS key bind GUI allows) is actually making DCS more of a SIM and less of a "game" than the stock allows. My Spit and 109 work perfectly in all aspects using Target. I have no curves set. No chain commands set. I have decided that I can click some of the breakers in the 109. The only difference to the final setup is that I have everything exactly as I had it configured in DCS World and simply added a few more buttons and switches and got the existing switch states to makes sense. The whole underlying reason for the exercise is to eliminate completely the need to use the keyboard (or mfds) so someday I can strap on a vr headset and go to town. Without using some kind of script or mod it's a bit more difficult to achieve without some kind of outside help. I flew both of my completed Target profiles last night and the keyboard was not even within reach and so in my mind success has been achieved and more importantly things make sense to ME. There are many better scripts than mine however I can edit mine and not get lost and so I have the ability to add to it at will. I have decided to use a single script per aircraft which suits my case well.
  13. Maybe using "chain" in a script which is beyond myself.
  14. Using the Target GUI (inspired by those posts), I was able to simply drag a second event to the TG2 trigger and have both fire in the BF 109. Edit: in reality that didn't fire both at the same time. hmm..
  15. This makes a lot of sense. I am going to try this on my F-15 next. As I work on 2 near identical ones, I often shake my head at the different key combinations required to do exactly the same thing. I can see you guys laughing since you've all been there on all this stuff.
  16. I spilled a drink over my Logitech G502. I grabbed a way old Microsoft mouse off the shelf here with the very basic (middle scrollable mouse button) functions. It has no flaws in game.
  17. Synchronize does require some pre flight planning. Does the mission start hot? in flight? on the ramp? One needs switches set to get along with the state of the aircraft at mission start. Everything off when spawning in free flight may find ign off, mags off, fuel valve off, fuel pump off when you enter mid flight. With synchronize off, you can enter mid flight and simply cycle everything quickly and you'll keep flying With synchronize on you can easily end up dead stick or yes, on your belly. Gear on a button instead of a switch may be prudent and would prevent that. This provokes a lot of thought. Thanks for bringing it up guys. All my gear up/downs are momentary buttons at present.
  18. Very informative. Thanks!
  19. Today, I decided to try and go to the actual Script code and try to figure out how to get the U and D layers back off the boatswitch so I can have pure single aircraft files as a base to draw from for future experiments. Otherwise, if you flip the boat switch you'd have nothing since nothing is programmed into those positions as of yet. You can drag a key into the layers in the "edit layers" screen of the GUI but you cannot drag them back out. You can drag another switch there to overwrite it but in order to make it not use any switch if you have assigned one, it appears you have to edit the code. Darn. Target: please fix that tiny bug. I figured layer 1 was fine since it was the S4 paddle and so I removed the lines (around line 27) that contained the references through to Layer 64. Back into the GUI and it worked. They no longer exist in the GUI as Layers. My eventual P-51 (starting construction today maybe after flying the 109 some more) will not have U and D layers, nor will my BF 109K-4. My Spitfire standalone as well will not have U and D layers. All will have an S4 Paddle momentary layer. My goal is to have a Spit as Middle Layer, 109 as U layer (Boatswitch back) and P-51 as D Layer (boatswitch forward). Since they are only single Target files and DCS doesn't get changed other than add in some key bindings, I can flip back and forth by taste. I am not sure if the Jets I prefer would be well served by this method of multiple aircraft as one could run out of buttons. Time to test the BF 109K-4. One file 3247 lines long till I had to use the script editor for one minute to delete one block. That could have been a ton of typing and copying and pasting for a near blind man. ;)
  20. There are many wonderful scripts out there and many of us would like to create our own. I personally had many false starts and then suddenly it clicked and I have been working away at some nice scripts. My reason for making my own is to always have an individual right there who can make changes or fixes. Everyone does not want everything in the same place seems like a fair statement. I used someone elses great script once. Then Target changed and the script no longer worked. In my frustration, I put DCS down for a long long time. Coming back from that, now making my own, I have no fear. It's fun to tinker is another fair statement. No question should be too easy or too hard. This is a place for learning. My first burning question stems from Home Fries and cichlidfan statement "virtually every command can be assigned to a directx button" Help Home Fries, cichlidfan, anyone. How do I do that? Exactly. How do I tell DCS that it's unbound key is going to put my landing gear down using target? What DX code can I tell the key to use when DCS has no DX code allocate to do that action? I am thick headed maybe. I am no genius. This is a great place to lay that out if you feel so kind. Note: I have used Home Fries Script in the past and it is awesome if you want to go that route. I am really enjoying learning this stuff. It's almost as much fun as flying and when you're done and you get up there and everything works? Priceless. People who receive things as gifts never respect them. People who build them themselves treasure them forever. Help us build our own and maybe we can help others. The Human race doomed itself when knowledge became a commodity to be bought and sold. Statements, questions and answers should pertain to Thrustmaster Target software and may include anything required to make that effective.
  21. I would like to say that I will not be flying a lot of aircraft but a few more certainly would be good. Perhaps the 4 WWII that are available now. (I own 3 so far). I have an F-15 and probably would try the F-18 as well. Who knows where it will end. Helis are attractive. ahhh. I generally know what I want to fly before hand but it's getting more period specific and not limited to one. If I am in a WWII plane mood, which is usually, I would not normally switch to jets that day. It's more of a "what mood am I in " thing. I have 2 fully built Target profiles now except for some bombing controls yet to be put into the BF 109. I am thinking for my 3 WWII stuff just for fun, I am going to Put the BF 109 on the U Layer and The P51 on the D layer with all layers (M being the spit) having the availability of the S4 modifier. I of course will also have the aircraft as separate files as well. The beauty of target. I can change my mind not only for aircraft but even for load out or missions or any reason at all. Since I change nothing in the DCS end of stick and throttle things, I can flip through my moods using target. I am only doing that because I can. Picture I am in MP flying the Spit. Buddy wants a wingman in a 109. *flip boat switch back* 109 profile loaded. Jump in 109. I'll have to load a separate file for the FW190 that I don't have yet. The next step for me (today) is to make a single file for the P-51. Then I'll start adding the 109 to the U layer and the P-51 to the D layer. I always keep them as similar as possible. The stick doesn't change much at all if at all. Just some of the nomenclature changes as I keep it as similar to the game as possible so I don't have to include a pile of Rem statements or whatever target calls them. The layers do not show on the graphical target printout. I guess bottom line is, in reality, I am the one or two kind of Aircraft kind of guy. My aged brain would never remember more than <insert every growing number here> I am a Piston engine kind of guy (x Harley racer). The crackle of a decelerating Merlin is such sweet music to this old man. I am pretty sure I used your stuff and Loved it. I am not knocking that at all. It's more my own inability to find any information at all on how to use DX bindings that keeps me from even considering that route. I know nothing. Saying you should use directx doesn't mean a lot to convince me. I don't understand how one would tell DCS which action it wants it to perform if there is no designated dx code or key stroke allocated in game. How do we do that with directx? I have no doubt I'll do everything over and over and that is fine since again. I am changing nothing in DCS and can bop around at will. It is a statement that goes nowhere. Back it up. Link it to something. Provide some direction. It's like saying "Yeah, I like ice cream". Remember I am not a coder. I Loved the way you did the scripts and the end result. The original post title kind of hinted toward wanting a simple method. One fcf file made completely with GUI only is the simple way to go. We should make a new thread for getting into it further in Target or we're going to scare folks who want to keep it simple away from Target. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3200599#post3200599
  22. I was hoping we could use this thread for discussing Target programming of the Thrustmaster Hotas Wartog and how to use Target in General. We originally started here but it quickly went beyond the scope of the OP and so I thought it was proper not to hijack it any further. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=190477
  23. I am pleasantly surprised. You just cannot get it to fly poorly. I swear I stopped right in the sky and it still didn't complain. I'll have to delve deeper into this mysterious new machine in my hanger. 10 Minutes of Bliss.
