  1. No. the problem was half your post was just solid black lines. Unreadable. But I figured out that if I selected them, they became visible.
  2. I see your point, but you're going too far for this sim. ED would have to start building many, many different modules of the same heli for just tiny modifications. We have a word for this in my Medical field. Clinically Insignificant. It's not worth it. So just let it slide. 99% of people in this sim aren't going to care. All these restrictions you guys want need to go into server restrictions and mission restrictions. Then everyone can be happy.
  3. Lol, you can't mod anything on this game. It's near impossible. They've even locked out weapons mods now in 2.7. And just a heads up, M1. For some reason, there is black background on all of your sentences. Don't know if you are doing that on purpose or not. Your the only one showing like that.
  4. @DaemonPhobos You are denying reality, just because you don't like it. By your words and others, APKWS CAN be fitted on older aircraft. And if the mission takes place in 2015 onwards, any old aircraft can be carrying APKWS. And it would probably be done, if it gave the aircraft a good advantage in the mission. Why deny capability? Yeah, if your mission takes place in like 2005 or so, well of course, APKWS would not be available, because it hasn't been produced yet. It all depends on the Year of the mission. I can see why you don't want it on your servers. It's just too "unskilled". People will spam the hell out of it. A short range Vhiker that's even easier to shoot.
  5. Ok then. So, APKWS is backwards compatible to any aircraft that can carry Hydra, so only the Year matters. Just because some people don't like them, doesn't mean they should be excluded, if the Year is beyond when they were produced. Jet pilots spam AMRAAM's all over the place in the servers. I don't see anyone trying to stop them. It doesn't matter what year the Apache was produced. What matters is the Year the mission takes place, as an old Apache could be fitted with them after APKWS was produced. And this is REALISTIC. Say, Mission takes place in 2020. An old Apache could carry them. Hell, a UH-1 could probably carry them, if he had a JTAC to lase for him.
  6. For me, the problem is they have put APKWS on the new A-10C II, which now means they are in the "DCS World". So, if your mission includes the DCS A-10C II, well you're obviously beyond the time when it was produced, and therefore APKWS has been produced, so how can you deny it to other older aircraft capable of carrying it, in the same mission? Catch-22.
  7. But does the APKWS NEED software? It sounds like it could just be loaded on any aircraft that can carry a Hydra pod. The way it is being described, is you just launch like an unguided rocket, and it activates, homing on a certain laser code. If that is true, than ANYTHING hydra capable, could carry it.
  8. You can't just modify CLSID anymore? As for weapons, I find Vikhrs get boring. I like to get in close with rockets. You have to get in REAL close to use them and actually get a hit. I use them for "knife fighting". Funnel maneuver around a BTR, with rockets set to single launch on each pod. Spin around him punching rockets, faster than he can spin his gun to shoot at you. Hard as Hell, but very rewarding. Just make sure he doesn't have any buddies near that can spam you with cannon fire. It's very good to use when you don't have time to get a lock for the gun, and you need something more powerful than 30mm. Just set your gun sight for manual.
  9. Then don't use it in your missions, and ban it on your server. But don't tell other people what they can and cannot use. That's the whole problem with what Fri13 called "religion and politics" on this forum. Yeah, personally, I find the APKWS a little too easy. I like the challenge of getting good with unguided rockets. But each to his own.
  10. Yes. Personally, I think if an airframe can carry it, it should be allowed. We are not all Americans. The export versions of American aircraft can be fitted with VERY different loadouts. It would be nice to see these as an option. For instance, I have very little care for CMWS in the Apache, as I don't feel it works well ( from my experience with MWS in the A-10C ). I would much rather fly an export with stinger racks on the wingtips. There's no where to hide for a heli in the simple DCS landscape, and you are forced to go on the offensive against jets and heli's, killing them before they can kill you. Sometimes I fly the A-10C with 6 Mavericks. Sometimes, I prefer to fly with a more realistic loadout and 2 or 4 Mavericks. It depends what mood I'm in. Just for fun, or Realism. I see there is a mod for the Shark to Carry Hellfires, and up to 24 Vhikers. Obviously fantasy, but fun for some people. Most people in this game fly offline ( I'm guessing around 90% ). I fly mostly offline. I even make my own missions sometimes. So, peoples fantasies are not ruining any online servers, and those who are total hardcore types can restrict themselves as they like. Doesn't mean you have to restrict everyone else to your beliefs. As I've said before, DCS is a business. If they want to sell their product, they need to give people what they want. Personally, I wish they would release their terrain editor, so we can make smaller maps with MUCH greater detail ( good for heli's ), and also their loadout editor, so people can arm with what they want ( and play in their own computers ). Yeah, one, you guys need to password your servers, and let in only trusted people. 2). I've never looked at what servers can do, but there needs to be ways to set limits on things.
  11. If you really want to know what's going on, you have to pull up Google or Yandex translate, and start reading the Russian forum. They don't seem to announce much here in the English one.
  12. Lol, yeah, I've always said it was a total experiment that never was really made. It just eventually became the Ka-52. I hear the last ones were just remade into Ka-52s. So, after a lot of arguments between members, it was announced it would get the same wing stubs as the Ka-52, and have igla's added, as that would most likely be what it would have become if it hadn't been cancelled. It was meant to be the attack / scout of the Ka-52, which would have acted as a command craft. Ah, found the quote - From YouTube "Interview with Wags. Talking future plans, maps and helo's for DCS" quote - Wags - "BS3 is in active development, both art and new systems." 2 weeks ago. In the comments where a guy asked about BS3.
  13. I know you guys don't search around much, but yeah, BS3 IS happening. Confirmed by Wags in a YouTube post on the last podcast. According to him and DCS, it's going to be released after the Apache. If I remember right, Chizh also confirmed it in the Russian forums.
  14. I'll probably stick with the BS3 and iglas. It's going to be a beast.
  15. I don't need the CMWS ripped out. I just need a German / whatever export AH-64 with stinger racks.
  16. Lol, you're like others. You don't get it. DCS is a WORLD Sim. It's about simulating a WORLD. This is where the sales are. This is where the money is. And what really sells this is that you have all these different simulations of different things in the same WORLD. THAT is what REALLY sells a sim. It means they can all interact with each other, which makes it all VASTLY more interesting. If DCS needs more people to work on more things, they can hire them. It all just depends on how much money is coming in to support them. More mods, more simulation, more money.
  17. @Savagebliss I don't see why not. All the terrain is there. You just need a forest fire simulation, and then ED could make the planes for it. Planes would probably be about as simple as the WW2 birds. A sim is a sim, and money is money. The more money ED brings in, the better for everyone. Win / Win!
  18. Good to see Arma people coming in! That game is DEAD ( really was with 3, which was a downgrade from 2 and just a money grab ). Doesn't look like there ever will be a IV. Hope to see DCS become the next level of an "ARMA" type sim. Probably will be years and a LOT of work, but hopefully one day. I tell any Arma players I can find about DCS: World. Welcome to DCS!
  19. Actually, you guys who are "it must be EXACTLY correct for the age / variant / serial number" are a very small minority. Some EXACT things are not going to be very popular. For instance, I have no love of CMWS over stinger racks. I mostly care whether it is in reality, can be put on the airframe, can be modeled mostly realistically (don't care about whether they get the wire colors right or not), works well in the DCS "World". The "World" is pretty simple right now, and does not work well for helicopters. There are no complicated hills, clearings, canyons, boulders, hiding places for a helicopter. We have the tree line, and that's about it ( and even it doesn't hide you well ). I'm sure the CMWS is like the MWS on the A-10C, where my plane spams / wastes flares and chaff just because the Russian tanks, etc. on the battle field are launching missiles. None are aimed at me, but the system just starts spamming away. I eventually just turn it off. CMWS is just useless to me. Give me stingers over that anyday. Probably the BEST thing DCS could do is give out good modding tools for the aircraft and the "World". Then most everyone could be happy, considering over 90% of people play this game offline, and want a sandbox.
  20. I constantly see this quoted, but members and ED have to understand, buyers have the final decision on whether they will buy it or not. In the end, ED has to sell this. And, of course, ED wants to make money.
  21. Yeah, the only time I have ever seen a person convicted of "giving away secrets" was when some idiot sailor on a submarine ( which the US seems to consider the most secret thing we have ) took a photo of a control panel on one of our most advanced submarines. He was convicted of something or other, and did some jail time, but the case was ridiculed by everyone as overkill and over-reach of the Law. I'm sure the Russians had total plans of that sub YEARS ago. There are really no secrets anymore. Spies on both sides easily get what they are looking for. Just look at MAKS. The Russians openly display their equipment and cockpits. What secrets?
  22. Lol, the US Government doesn't come after anyone for "guesses". I doubt if Russia does either. Their new "Law" is just chutzpa. Simulators have been doing guesses for YEARS. If governments cared about sims, ARMA would NEVER have been. Hell, I remember playing the "super secret" F117 Night Hawk sim back in the 90's.
  23. Lol, somebody doesn't listen to podcasts, etc.
  24. Lol, yes, the Attack Helicopter we've had since 2008 that has seen 13 years of endless bitching about why doesn't it carry iglas. And now, finally, in BS3 we will get them. So it makes NO SENSE why the Apache wouldn't get stingers, when many countries have their Apache's carry them.
