  1. The things I want to see on BS3 is a REALISTIC Shkval, FLIR, and Iglas. Not being able to fly missions at night is a NO GO.
  2. Yeah, I read it too. As you say, it's all about "spys". Just that one little paragraph about the military, and it's VERY VAGUE. Doesn't seem like a real impediment. Just a "ask us for permission" before you do something. I'm sure that's the same in any government or government involved company. So I don't see what the problem is. Especially with old equipment like the Igla. Hell, they display aircraft like the Ka-52 at public airshows! It's no secret what's in it, or how 95% of the stuff on it works. If they were afraid of foreign governments getting information on it, they would keep it hidden away.
  3. Maybe when we get Crysis graphics one day.
  4. That's an idea, probably best for the mostly MP players, but probably 90% of people on this sim play single player, against the AI. So, probably a no-go for most of them. Most of them will be like me and want separate items. If BP does do anything to try and solve the problem, I think it will be with some kind of lesser, basic stand-in props for people who don't own the assets, just so they can play in the server. I think that's what Arma did IIRC.
  5. We understand what your saying Steve, but think about it. DCS makes mostly modules and maps. They can probably afford to give away an asset pack or two, and even a map. But BP is a THIRD PARTY. They are coming into the game to make asset packs! And, for the near future, that's probably going to be their main product. So, they don't want to give their stuff away for free. Is there a way to compromise for people who don't own the assets on MP play? I don't know. We're going to have to leave that up to them. If I REALLY want to play on a specific server, I'll probably buy the assets.
  6. Resolution is just like 1080p or 4K. You want to keep that the same as whatever is native for your monitor. The rest of the settings you can fool with. You might also try different light settings on your monitor. Mine has about 6 different view settings. And yeah, your screenshots look normal to me as well. You need to just turn up the brightness on your hud. If you look into the DCS Sun and it looks bright, then it's right. It's faded looking at times, because of strong sunlight. It washes out everything, just like IRL. Turn your plane until you get strong shadows, and you'll see the console lights glow brightly. I have mine on all low settings right now, with all graphics effects off, so I don't get any of that. It's kind of all the same lighting (cartoonish). Things may have changed, because they changed something in the graphics driver update. I've had that happen to me. Drove me crazy for a while, until I managed to adjust it all back to what I wanted. Had to change my monitor setting in the end from "Standard" to "Theater". That worked well.
  7. THIS. They're fun. Basically, a 440 pound bomb that pops a parachute over the runway, loses all it's speed and hangs from the parachute, then when sensors detect it's close enough to the runway (or ground, if you miss), rocket motors cut in, and smash the bomb a few feet down into the runway and ground beneath, where a delay fuse causes it to explode under the runway. Leaves a huge crater that is not easily repaired. Much better than normal bombs. The Russians also have one. The B-something. Can't remember. I think the Su-25 carries it in game, but it's been ages since I've flown that module.
  8. One thing I would do - Turn off all the bells and whistles in DCS Settings - Set all graphics to low (keep your correct Resolution of course), but turn everything else to off or low. Now take a look at it all. Then start turning things higher, and On as you go up, seeing how things change. Also, there should be HUD lighting dials to turn up the brightness of your HUD. I don't have the F-14 module, so couldn't tell you where it is. The lighting in this game can be kind of harsh (i.e. realistic). So, you might want to change things with your graphics card and monitor settings as well till you get what you want.
  9. Yes, but as one of the mods said once - Those games, say Arma, eventually end, and make a whole new game, like Arma 2, Arma 3, etc. Which you end up paying for all over again. DCS doesn't do that, so, eventually they put out a new module like BS2 or 3, to cover the costs of further development. And they usually give a nice discount to the people who already own the old one.
  10. Hmm. My edits seem to be disappearing. If you guys are looking for a stick, VKB has a new cheap version of their stick for $120 - $150. An "all in one stick" that looks pretty decent. I think it's called the Gladiator NXT.
  11. Yeah, it's all priorities. You have to pay for what you want. It just comes down to how much do you want it? Of course, if the company wants to sell it, they need to offer it for a price people can be comfortable with. Supply and demand. It's all a balancing act. I want an actual, decent HOTAS, but the prices are pretty high. Been wanting one for years. Priorities, priorities, priorities. Nothing in Life is for free.
  12. Thrustmaster has gone up a little. It's the X-56 Rhino that has doubled in price. My problem with the Warthog is the same as other people. It feels a little sticky, and the buttons a little flacid (and I admit, the one I got to try out was a demo model that looked like it had been well trashed by kids and such ). Of course, to get to the next level will cost you twice as much (VKB, Virpil, which are on the high end of mid range). I wish I could find a place that sells these, but I've never been able to actively test one out. They are supposed to be very good. Beyond that ( high range, where they don't even bother posting prices as they sell to the Military ), prices get insane.
  13. Right now it's that way. But hopefully, we will soon have much better Infantry and AI to go along with it. Then, we will have to start planning anti-infantry techniques with fast-firing, lighter weapons like 7 and 12mm, being supported by anti-armor jets and heli's.
  14. I can see multiple variants of different modules, I'm just not into older planes. I like my planes / heli's as new as they can get. 90's and up.
  15. @Desert Fox Agree with you on the Thrustmaster being somewhat sticky ( and stiff ). It's that gimbal ball they use. I had considered it, since it's not too bad a price for a mid level HOTAS, but in the end, figure it's worth it to pay a little more and go with VBK, or Virpil. If you guys want more buttons, take a look at Virpil's throttle. LOTS of buttons and switches. A little pricey, but I hear good equipment. I wish I could try one out, I don't know how good their buttons and hat switches are. Thrustmaster's did feel a little flimsy, just like the X-56. EDIT: Oh yeah, VKB now has a cheaper stick going for $120 - $150 called the Gladiator. https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product_cat=vkb-joysticks-and-rudders
  16. The REAL problem with the Ka-50 is the Shkval. It's super simplistic and not realistically modeled. Reminds of something out of Arma. The Real Shkval has a contrast lock which you can adjust to get the best contrast. You adjust the locking gates to form a square around the area you want the Shkval to look at, and then it tries to find the target you want by comparing contrast to the background. Once it "sees" it, the gates will shrink around it, and you will get a lock. This means Air targets should be EASY to spot, as they are dark objects against a light sky. The ground targets will be harder to see because of their camo paints and any nettings or such that are over them. We need to get this system realistically simulated, just like they are working on realistic radar. I'm not sure if the Apache has EO, but if it does, hopefully they are working on this system, and it can be ported over to the Ka-50. It will make shooting missiles against ground targets much more realistic and interesting. Plus, you will now be able to lock up windows on buildings and such, which we will want when we have better Infantry AI.
  17. Thanks Bulba! Been looking and looking for it.
  18. Ok. In Windows, go to the search bar on the bottom left, and type in System Settings. Click on View Advanced System Settings. Under Performance tab, click Settings. Go to Advanced Tab. Under Virtual Memory, hit Change. Go down the list of drives it gives you and click "no paging file" on all the slow ones. On your fastest drive, click System Managed Size. I only have one paging file on my SSD C Drive, and have deleted paging files on all the others, as they are too slow. Now, when your computer runs out of memory and starts using hard drive space for it (virtual memory), it will be sent to your fastest drive. This cleared up stuttering for me, as the computer was waiting on my slow drives to respond. Not anymore.
  19. Hope you still manage to come out with the new BS3. However, if Igla's and the other stuff promised is not included, I won't be buying it. With the Apache coming out, the Shark will need these upgrades, or be wiped from the sky. The Western jets in MP are bad enough, but now they will be backed by the Apache as well.
  20. Meh. I'd like to see that new Russian Law. Without the Ka-50 being fixed and upgraded, the West will just dominate, and the East will be destroyed. I tried to find it on google, but can't find anything. And I don't see why they would care if older Russian units are simulated (and even some "modern" ones), as most of it is old tech. At least to the West. Are they just embarrassed at their level of technology and don't want it to be shown? Even with an upgraded BS3, it's going to be a HARD fight against the Apache. If the BS2 is left as it is, the Apache will wipe it out of the sky.
  21. I have problems with stuttering at startup of a mission as well. Making sure the pagefile.sys (virtual memory on your hard drive) is on my fastest drive is what cures it for me. SSD if you can.
  22. I don't think you understand what you're trying to say. So, you're issue is not that you're poor, obviously. You, or your friends, just don't want to have to buy assets. Which is what Battlefield Productions is probably mostly going to be about. You're in the wrong thread. If you want free assets, you need to talk to ED, not BP. To me, an asset and a module are basically the same thing. You're going to have to pay for it. If you don't like that, you're in the Wrong Game. Sorry if you're friends can't afford it, but that's not BP's problem. And neither is it ED's or the Communities'. This is a business who is selling a product. Enough. BP said something about they were considering what to do on servers when people didn't own the assets, a few posts back, but this is all VERY early, so who knows what is going to happen. We hardcore players are not going to let people like you derail what we have been waiting YEARS for. FINALLY, a Third Party has taken interest in The Ground, Vehicles, and AI. THANK YOU SO MUCH BATTLEFIELD PRODUCTIONS!
