Annddd this is what I hate and mistrust about online licenses. There should only be a check if you are going online to play on a server. Offline should be check free. Otherwise, you run into problems like this.

Sorry, but a LOT of us DO want obsession over the fine details. That is what makes this sim different from something like Arma. And how do you know you won't need to be able to fly an aircraft one day? But, yeah, there are a lot of bugs still that do need to be corrected, and we desperately need a Dynamic AI Engine (e.g. Falcon IV). It all takes time. I started playing this game when Black Shark first came out. So many years ago. Still watching it all come together.

That looks painful.

Auto-tuning worked for me on the updates! Thanks man! Getting around 23 MB / sec now.

Even if the FPS players don't want to learn to fly or drive real armor, they would still enjoy the challenge of a realistic battlefield. As long as they were given infantry defenses against armor, like LAW, METIS, and Javelin. Also AA like Igla and Stinger. At proportionate squad and platoon levels, of course. This was how it was in the UT mod Infiltration that I used to play. We had a map where F-16's were coming in and doing bombing runs on us as we attempted to secure a package in the open. There were caves nearby, so we had to listen for the sound of jets, and seek cover immediately, or we were toast for sure. While not very realistic, Battlefield seems to be going this route, where you can attack infantry FPS with tanks and aircraft. I used to play Crysis, and it was an INTENSE experience when people saved enough points to start buying aircraft.

ABSOLUTELY. I've gotten bored with this sim, because even though it is named "World", there is only flight sim. The ground is just ignored. With no new Arma in sight, NOW is the time to make an Air / Ground / Sea simulation complete with FPS ground troops. I could get you SOOOOO many new customers, if you would make an Arma II level simulation. Of course, it would be a Thousand Times better, because you offer REAL simulation. Me too. I remember the first time you released the beta of F/A-18 on the free weekend. I got shotdown over Persian Gulf, so I started walking around with my pilot character. The sound of the F-18's roaring overhead was amazing, and the eerie quiet of the town I had dropped into made the night seem all the more realistic. I walked up on to a hill, and just watched the jets soaring overhead. I must have stood there for half an hour, just enjoying the spectacle.

Ka-50 takes a while to figure out, but you just have to know how the trimmer works.

We Want To Hear Your Ideas For A New Map In DCS!

If the AH-64D gets millimeter wave Hellfires, you're probably not going to need Stingers. And it's already going to be quite a beast compared to the other copters. The thing is, stingers can't be mounted on the wingtips anymore, because of the CMWS. And as far as I know, only sidewinder has ever been tested on the pylons.

I tried Windows 11. It's still pretty broken. I wouldn't worry about it for a while.
-
LMAO!! Should be standard on all hueys!

They're adding iglas, because they don't want to fix the shkval, and otherwise it will be slaughtered by the Apache. Even the Mi-24p will be able to kill it with it's R-60's. Since it was experimental, and never really produced, as you say they did a "what if", and envisioned a more modern version of it.

Personally, I agree with GGTharos, in the fact that I want more shots and less weight. I don't want to give up primary slots for anti-armor munitions. For me, the purpose is not in getting a kill on a jet, but causing him to have to maneuver and break lock on me. Then, I can dive for cover, and maybe get a better shot at him with a vikher from behind cover ( if I can somehow get a lock ). The Igla is an emergency "spray and pray" weapon just to get them off of you. And in this game, the jets and heli's target you constantly. Probably less in Reality. Try playing the "Battle" mission in the Ka-50 sometime. Those four Cobra's ignore every tank under them and come straight for you.

Man, ED really outdid themselves on that video! Чувак, ЭД действительно превзошел самих себя на этом видео!
-
Yes. Anyone else besides me starting to lose a little faith in ED in what appears to be a new "overwhelming fear" of the Russians? Even War Thunder simulated the Ka-52. I don't see them shaking in their boots. I don't see anyone caring one bit. Arma 3 simulated the Mi-28. Again, no concern seen. Really ED, what is your future plans on Russian forces? Are they just not going to be modeled and were going to put Red Stars on the Apache and F-18? Because that's what it's beginning to look like. If you can't get the exact information on the craft, I don't see what the problem is using publicly available information that is EVERYWHERE, and good educated guesses. Otherwise, you're going to end up with a fictional craft you can't sell. I don't see how Russia can yell spying when 1980's technology is simulated.

Personally, I'm OK with the igla's, 3rd rail on the Ka-50. That would have probably been made standard, because the Ka-52 is carrying the same wing. MWS I'm kind of moderate about, as though it's pretty real, it's being shoved in the ABRIS to make room. It was meant to fit into the glass panel, like the Ka-52. The REAL thing I think this chopper needs ( and others have voiced it as well ), is FLIR. We need the Ka-50N modeled. I don't know what FLIR it was using, but I don't think it is the one on the Ka-52. That copter uses the the GOES-451 or 452 as far as I can find. It's a complete system, but I don't know if the FLIR itself was used in some way on the Ka-50N. However, the Ka-50N was never put into service, so I don't think we are going against any Russian laws modeling it. If you guys really want to argue this though, you need to go on to the Russian boards ( Black Shark forum ) because that is where the mods like @Chizh are debating. Use Google Translate or Yandex Translate and post in both Russian and English so everyone can understand what you are saying.
-
Lol, yes, the English speaking people here do need to use Google Translate and interact with the Russian side of the board as well, as much more is being discussed there than here.

The problem is, without the shkval being fixed, we need the iglas to defend against other aircraft. And even then, the shkval in RL can't lock targets with speed greater than around 250 kts, IIRC. Would a modern day Ka-50 have a three rail wing and carry iglas? Looking at the Ka-52, most likely. In fact, it probably would have had a lot of the features of the Ka-52, such as RWR, MWS, DIRCM, and FLIR, all mounted in a glass cockpit. It was made to be a "hand" of the Ka-52.
-
What makes me angry is that they are crutching the heli. Instead of fixing what ails it, they are putting on iglas. The igla's are nice, and I can see that they WOULD have been included on a future Ka-50, because the Ka-52 has the same wing ( no need to make two wings ). However, this is all to "crutch" what is the REAL problem. And that is that the shkval DOES NOT WORK. THAT and the fact that the vikher has NO fragmentation effect ( i.e. USELESS against air targets ). One wonders if Russian EO is really that bad. Is it? I have never seen any video of shkval or GOES trying to target a helicopter or jet, and all the videos I see of the GOES, they never look like they are trying to lock, and are only guiding manually ( and this is in real combat! )

Well, the real problem is, can we get information from the Russian companies anymore, and are ED allowed to simulate it? The next problem is, the Western side is getting far more advanced, because we can't get information on aircraft such as the Ka-52. I'm in the middle on this. I want everything to be realistic, but then again the Russians seem to be cutting us off information wise. So, does ED start making aircraft where they have to make educated guesses with some known information, like the Ka-52? And on the other hand, some systems have just not been developed yet, like realistic Electro - Optical that has contrast locking. I really don't need a lock on the ground for the Ka-50 to work "most" of the time, but when it comes to helicopters in the air, you need it. This is why ED is guessing at a future ( i.e. modern ) Ka-50, and putting iglas on the wing. Which does make sense to me since the Ka-52 has the same wing. MWS the same, but you can see this is where we are entering the "educated guess" and also, some pretty bad manipulation of the ABRIS, IMO. It's obviously a crutch to bring the Ka-50 up to survive on the battlefield. So, do any of you Russian guys know at what level the Russians are at on Electro Optical? From the videos I have managed to find from the Ka-52, none of them seem to be locking. It looks like they are guiding the vikher in on manual. Also, the box seems to be large, and they are guiding in on the line that comes up to the middle of the box from the bottom, almost like a gunsight. Can Russian EO actually get a lock? How about in the sky? I would really like to see realism in this game, but can't find anything on Russian EO tech. From what I see in American EO tech, you expand a large box around the target, the computer looks at images in it's database and the contrast around the target, and then the box shrinks down around the target, showing what the computer has guessed it is supposed to lock on. Haven't seen this at all in any Ka-52 vidoes. Also, if ED looks like they are starting to do educated guesses with the Russian planes ( since lack of information ), how would you guys feel about just doing a full blown Ka-52, from what can be found, and educated guesses? We do have a good amount of realistic info on the Ka-50. I guess it would really be the best we could do with what we could find, and would be somewhere between FC3 and normal DCS. Maybe this could be their Modern Warfare lineup.
-
Well, you must have some magical touch. Cause none of the rest of us can get them to lock. Only after about 20 to 30 tries. Maybe. Jets - NEVER. And with Chizh blessing iglas, it doesn't sound like they are ever going to fix it. The only limit it should have is not locking targets moving over 250 kts or so, IIRC.
-
I'm still waiting for the Shkval to be able to lock air targets. It shouldn't be a problem. Black heli against light blue sky. Yet the shkval locks up ground targets hiding in brush and trees without a problem. Crazy. It should be the reverse. We wouldn't even need iglas if we could lock air targets, and the vikhr was given an actual fragmentation effect. I have to set my fuse to ground / moving target right now to have any chance of killing helis ( and that's in the rare case where I can lock them ). Air burst does nothing.
