  1. @Bremspropeller wow! i didnt think id see you here. I remember you from Il2. Ive been gone for awhile. I always liked you. glad to see you. we should multicrew sometime friend! i love il2 but Idk I cant get back into it. i wish i had more money. Id missed ALOT from when i gave dcs a chance on ww2 5 years ago. I think DCS may outpace or dethrone Il2 for ww2 combat soon. I mean.. FFS they have B17s mass formations... realistic flak. a lot of planes at this point..
  2. hot plane. in briefing has ab earing and range for enemy. take off and head to tthem BE WARY - if youre american go bold. If youre NOT american, I heavily advise going full burner to meet the foe. for example Miguel was very nice and modded the su27 camp to a JF17. Id head to the Americans, esp if i only saw F18 RWRs as theyre way more vulnerable. F14s Id run or avoid. however, that said, I would only go feet wet around 20 miles out. no more. you want the us to fight your sams, or at least have all sorts of radar pings, and hopefully friendly planes will scramble! also very important. DONT GET GREEDY use any long range missiles you have and GTFO JF17 this means going to 40k feet so your fox 3s have ooptimal range, firing them as fast as possible, and Going full burner in a dive homeward bound. I take ALL FLARES out of a2a intended Jf17s as the most dangerous US missiles are amraams and aim54s. if youre flying the F14 I advise going high, and bugging out when phoenixes are gone If youre in a lesser plane than that, then yes I advise flying noe etc But in the JF or F14, flying super low level for suprise attacks doesnt work very well. Idk why.. but it doesnt., the F14 is sorta clear, youre taking away alot of its advantages.
  3. thanks for even caring. unfortunately I tried that. Let me be very clear as well. IM TERRIBLE AT THIS STUFF Ive basically given up on it. I wish i hadnt boiught the channel map but Im from that region of europe and those were the best yrs of my life before I was moved to america =/ all that said.. Id be happy if my goddamn f14 camps work and my F14 IRanian campaign used the A now, even if its not the iranian A yet
  4. radio messages would simply be met with silence. tried every tanker even non navy compatible. we also... once heard a tanker but it cut out and it aws switchig channels. switching back immediately yielded nada. Interestingly, We got awacs updates anyways!
  5. ok this is long but uneditted and my version. im afraid youll have to skip ahead quite a bit... its too big to upload here. I have it on my dropbox. Im begging for someone to school me correctly on radio usage PLEASE. Ive watched 5 tutorials. chucks guide. the manual. Is this a bug or me?? Someone help! If you want my Track, or tacview , ask for the track I need to share the dropbox with you as its 90 mb.
  6. i have my front seaters vid easily avail. if you guys want my backseat vid Ill provide on request the long and short - we can get awacs, but most times the SC doesnt answer. WORSE though, is I nopticed I cannot get tankers to answer me! and this was no exception. we spent a good 15 to 20 min, I quadruple checked the kneeboard and breifing. I tried all tankers . no response. on chat someone said they may or may not have heard one of our calls. 2 other pilots said it worked fine for them bgut they werent in F14s I reread chucks guide, watched a tutorial again.. Can someone please tell me wtf is going on? like... I think perhaps Ill have to put my vid in but let me be clear I tried every tanker. I tried switching the AM / FM button, I manually entered the freak. I know u havfe to use a diff bind for the backseat radio. Etc etc etc. I simply dont get it, and this is a rather major problem. PLEASE PLEASE HELP. skip the vid until after we eject, towards the very end _ this is one of the worst flights I ever had, but the end is where we have the comms problems prolly last 10 minutes actually editing messed this up but 1:12 to :120 you can see we were very close. Let me dig out my copy then.
  7. sure gimme a little time. its not game breaking, its a matter of me wanting to fix a bug
  8. ok again, I DIDNT SAY IT COULDNT HOVER . AGAIN I DIDNT SAY IT COULDNT HOVER. I LINKED A REPORT AND ASKED WHY THE GUY SAID IT COULDNT HOVER. EVERYONE PLEASE, STOP SAYING I AM SAYING THAT, I READ THE REPORT AND ASKED A QUESTION, THATS FAR FROM SAYING ' NOPE COULDNT HOVER!' second of all, fine I see your point but its really a bit of a stretch. youre basically assuming im an arrogant westerner who thinks all soviet equipment is trash (so odd I have more russian modules than western, my fav ww2 front is east, I prefer east in Il2, and Im ALL OVER getting the Hind) now if I was making deragatory remarks about soviet equipment.. I dont think my behavior would be thus. I still think its a rather extreme stretch to compare the myths about T72s, which are fairly understandle considering their horrific track record against the west ( i blame arab training and culture frankly. see the article 'why arabs lose wars') but comparing that to a single report where the guy says its nigh impossible to hover? come on man, dont you think perhaps you may have kinda.. went a little further than was necessary? i could see if i was known to diss russia and russian equipment. I could see if this was one of countless troll like claims. I could see if... welll I cant see. I took a link someone else gave me, asked a question about it, and suddenly I became 'the advocate for it'? wtf?! Do you seriously think I dont want a helo that can hover man??? I already swore Id buy the hind unless they axed AI multicrew. MP multicrew Ill bitch for years but buy. I will NOT buy if they make one man do 2 mens job. you are right about rumors and myths. Like russians claiming their APS can defeat a kinetic energy APFSDS round... LOL
  9. no joy. as in none of my path.bat had the line to delete. im not good with this stuff, again Miguel or P80 had to do remote access for 2 mins to fix my DCE .after yes after long explanation i could sorta get it but this.. and the previous post by designer epically failed. thanks for even caring though
  10. im a civvie ex depdent (son ) i got some pics from CV 65 about 100 miles off norfolk if you want some a6 pix? https://imgur.com/gallery/TT2qlsn
  11. Ok. Im not the brightest, but I have learned the rio and front seat very well. However when flying with AG51 the radio sporadically wouldnt work. Flying with Pulkz the other day, we couldnt connect oa tanker on Hoggit though others could contact the tanker. Im sure I was using the backseat radio (Arc 182 iirc) and I tried front seat, we both tried radioing., the carrier wont respond either. we checked freaks endlessly, even on chat got the freaks from other ppl. no joy Ill post a link to the vid, the issues ( you cant see what Im doing in the backseat which is frantically trying diff radio channels, AM / FM, EVERYTHING ) but you can hear our converasiton and see his problems. please I also think i have a track on my end, if asked Ill put in. Im begging you guys to help, Ive never had so much radio trouble in my life. this is reallly really bad with say the F 14 as radios ARE REALLY important in it.
  12. key word is almost crazy. i definitely wouldnt have suggested it, had not I read the link someone provided in another thread and i reproduced here. I only brought it up as a question, not as a statement, but i did ask why this US test pilot claimed the hind he was flying 'couldnt hover for appreciable amounts of time' and before someone says 'cold war propaganda downing russian stuff' the guy said he saw it as a design trade off not flaw, that it was the most fun helo he ever flew, and all the us pilots realllllly liked flying it. soo.. however its almost certain he wasnt flying a PS or anything. im pretty sure it was a D model. who knows. On the multicrew - look if its delayed for MP id be annoyed but whatever. if not at all for MP id be upset, but if they put an ai gunner (has to at least be as good as jester, and dont blame me for this, ED went and said itd be considerably better, which was a pretty rash statement as that may be harder to deliver than thought) but if they dont add AI multicrew I wont buy the module. after jester and the tomcat Im not going back to games where companies force me to do 2 or more mens jobs in a airframe that the government (all of them always going for saving money) deemed *needed 2 men to be effective* ill add especially with the soviets, they literally argued in favor of the autoloader in one way by noting itd save an crew member and every 3 tanks theyre fielding an extra tank with those extra men. Therefore, to me, it stands to reason if the USSR decided that the Hind needs 2 crewmen, it *does*.
  13. man.. if you figure it out let me know. I was DYING to fly a p51 in DCE and never got it to work =(
  14. yeah. motorcycle accident and i was gone awhile. Ill dig through them and send if you really want the track. otherwise, ill just wait for it to happen again.
  15. thanks ill try. I know switching to ram air has saved me before in this, however it seems VERY occasionally nothing will stop it. I literally popped the canopy once and was well below 5k feet and still died. *shrug*
  16. sorry. yes yes and yes.

    Best Module.

this is probably the post I agree with most and i think is most thought out The F14 has a lot of content too. a lot of missions, HB has instant action missions for All theaters except just one for channel. When syria came out they were one of the only (besides dekka with the JF) to put Instant Action missions in right away. the official campaign should be out soon, but even without it theres 3 excellent user campaigns. plus DCE. the F14 is the best MP experience Ive ever had (flying multicrew) and id disagree about not being able to use LGBs in SP. Ive been able to do it handily. you just need practice, and theres a mod to do it from the front seat. that said HB does need to fix that and have said they will. its still in progress. As much hating goes towards the ai backseater jester, hes a totally revolutionary thing and amazingly well done. Ive been able to accomplish 99% of what I always needed with him. I also will never go back to games forcing one man to do the job of 2 or more after Jester - that statement alone should clue you in. Its a beast a2a and a2g. the F18 was ridiculously easy to fly, but didnt feel 'wild' or super fast or anything. indeed it felt sterile. the F14 feels... like a horse, like your planes alive. it shakes, bufffets, groans. you can rip her wings off. i always feel like the greek god hephaeustus on a flaming chariot that Ive tamed - but just barely. its pretty friggin awesome. One module no one has mentioned but by the same company as the F14 is the Viggen. The Viggen is an awesome module and the plane is really cool and a fun low level flyer. The point about the JF17 is spot on. Id never even heard of them. Theyre VERY easy to learn, but have a lot to learn, and the chinese weapons clones of american weapons, while not as good as the western counterparts, are amazingly effective. I dont know if its reality or ED cant get info on russias latest weapons, or theyre simply not in game, but the chinese A2G weapons in particular were much much easier to use and deadlier than the russian a2g weapons on say a SU25. the JF17s A2A missiles are like shorter ranged amraams. however theyre fairly deadly. The laser guided rockets are amazing ,and of course the jdam like bombs, a2g cruise missile like weapons, etc. as far as the f14 vs any plane in game, in a F14 B with a competent crew, Id be willing to take on anyone. Especially with some Aim54s. dogfighting too, if you got a good stick its insanely dangerous. and like i said competent crew, the 2nd guy in WVR is just another set of eyes looking for you. the Jf17 i also would happily bring into a fight against any plane in game and feel i had a pretty good chance of surviving. its all up to the buyer of course; we all have our biases

    preach it brother!
  19. rebated is the wrong word fyi, it means like a discount for a price. you mean debated over and over I assume. Im just going off the quote, Im not here to declare it could or could not. Ill also add it didnt say it couldnt, it said it couldnt for any appreciable period of time, which means basically it could hover for a moment but then have issues. youll also note if you read the link that it says the issues seem to have been resolved by the PS models. If Im not mistaken those came out in the 80s so theyve been around awhile. Im not so certain its simply untrue that perhaps early models could not hover. Why? For one I dont really know either way, so Im going on what I have as documented. This wasnt some relic of info to change perceptions. it was complimentary of the hind actually. Im just saying we have this info, and I generally find individual test pilots accounts - whatever the country - pretty reliable, when quoted directly. Especially when theyre not 'downing' the enemy plane but complimenting it. but further, its insisted upon ( indeed its almost being acted like I came in and announced thats how it is, instead of me very clearly saying well Idk just going off this info some one shared ) that 'this has endlessly been debated' 'debunked' 'misinformation' even. Yet, for something thats so debated, why hasnt anyone sent me a link to show me otherwise? Again, Im not saying what it can or cannot do. I dont fly helicopters IRL, nor have I ever seen a real Hind flying around in person. I AM saying, where are the links? if its hot bs, thats cool, Id much prefer the hind to be able to hover too when i fly it (if ED does the right thing with multicrew... IF...) but wheres the links? why am I posting links and quotes, and the next 2 people assertively say its either misinformation (like I made it up myself) or that its been debated forever. I didnt ask anyone to take my mere word for it, I provided evidence that says it didnt hover well. how about some evidence to the contrary? I could spend the time searching myself, but Im just pointing out this is a one sided debate academically.
  20. hey man, just going off what the articles people linked me on the AH1 vs hind thread in this forum said. I dont know why a post cold war pilot who flew it would say its misinformation. he also clearly stated that hinds with shorter stubbier wings could hover, whatever model he had (d i believe) had the regular (or maybe bigger? who knows) wings and he claimed they couldnt. Again, ive seen hinds hover as well, but he seems to imply the wings hurt that a lot, and a combat loaded Hind,at least the model he flew, couldnt hover very easily or at all as far as 'like it was with the t72' Ive never said that whatsoever. http://www.airvectors.net/avhind_2.html "Stayton was also impressed by the machine's idiosyncrasies. One was that the helicopter's APU had a tendency to blast out a gush of flame when it was fired up, which was startling but harmless. Another eccentricity was that the big wings on the Hind prevented it from hovering, at least for any length of time, because they blocked the rotor downdraft. Apparently the cut-down wings on variants such as the Mi-24PS are to permit a hover capability. Stayton quickly learned to regard the Hind as a hybrid of a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft. It was very fast but not maneuverable, and in fact in a banking turn the dropped wing lost lift, which tended to flip the helicopter over onto its back. Stayton had fixed-wing flight experience and was able to compensate the first time he ran into this difficulty by putting the nose down to build up speed, but this maneuver would not be possible in low-level "nap of earth" operations. Stayton judged the Hind's unusual flying characteristics as design trade-offs, not design flaws. More Hinds were obtained for US Army service, operating as aggressor training machines, and Army pilots have praised it -- saying it is quiet, gives a very smooth ride, "like an old '62 Cadillac." Stayton felt it was more fun to fly than any other helicopter he ever got his hands on. Stayton was also impressed by the machine's idiosyncrasies. " You also didnt mention the source or time at all so I have to ask, what the heck does a T72 turret have to do with this?
  21. i think im just.. im gonna leave it. I rebound yesterday. the thing thats the biggest hole is my RIO binds but you use sticks a lot less as a rio i was going to XFER just now but after reading the comments lol no. im the guy who couldnt get dce to work without giving a stranger remote access to my comp (LOL) so ya
  22. meaning if its in an online server you jump in i think you can land and spawn on it if you have the airframe. otherwise no, I dont think youd get it, itd be like getting super carrier for free.
  23. oh man thanks. whyd it do that to me but not others? any ideas?
  24. it came out around 11 am est here...
  25. pretty awesome though it looks way more similar than id have thought tho I dont know what I expected idk why my keybinds all deleted but jesus christ what a PITA. Anyways, had the hot trigger issue (ATTN IRON MIKE LOOK IN BUGS PLS) however after the pilot shot a missile it went away and we got several kills. And he trapped! he had only done so once before! interestingly we couldnt get a compressor stall *trying* - i told him to jerk the plane all over and slam the throttles.. she wouldnt do it However, ad I dont know if this is a bug .. but some things are acting a little wonky the SC - we were def on the right freak.. wouldnt respond. also when we made the call the mom the pilot said state 15.8 and it was 2.9 also on the SC - we couldnt taxi after trapping. usually in the past you could start taxiing after a few seconds but we were glued. I had him raise the hook even. We couldnt move! NO idea whats up with that But yes, very annoyed I have to remember what I really need bound for RIO and its been awhile as pilot so its less hard to remember but that too =// still thanks HB, I like it and im glad you keep your promises unlike many devs. to curious ppl - the pit looks EXACTLY the same RN. I will say the planes look newer though. the Bs look.. weathered. the As do look new. my pilot noted he felt it when he did the 'zone 6' I didnt, but i could hear whumps with the AB and I saw a heat blur for the first time when looking rearward with the AB one in RIO. I bet it does an awesome dump and burn as the F111 had a spectacular one and it had the same engines. anyone whose away and cant play yet - what do you want? waddya wanna know or see"?
