Cinch, let us know if it works better or worse ( FPS wise) in XP x64 versus Vista! I am currently flying BlackShark on Vista x64 and it runs much better than on the same exact system with XP x86. Mxyzpylk - Not sure what to say that might help, except that I have Set Affinity II setup and it works automatically for me. Maybe this is obvious, but make sure you put a shortcut to Set Affinity II in your "StartUp" folder so it auto starts with Windows or set it to auto start... if it isn't running ( small box in your taskbar) then it can't set your Blackshark to run on the multi cores. Frazer, I had business meetings last night so I was unable to install/test your tweak. I'll try and report on it later. Thank-you.

Knowing that everyone would be hitting the USA download sites yesterday, I chose to download from the Russia sites (it is still the English version) and got both files in under 30 min. Try the Russian sites.

Frazer, the multi-core fps enhancement seems to only work with Vista 32 bit and 64 bit. In XP, there is almost no difference between single and multi-cpu when it comes to DCS:BlackShark. So for now, I fly LockON: Flaming Cliffs in XP Pro and dual boot over to my Vista install to fly BlackShark. Thanks for the FPS tweak, even though my fps in Blackshark benchmark.trk test averaged 72.8 fps, I will give your tweak a try later this week.

Thanks ED and DCS! I bought the Russian version and now purchased and downloaded the English version. Once the CD/DVD version is out I'll get that one too! Thank-you for this great sim and we look forward to and support ongoing work in the DCS battlefield modules.

Nice, purchasing as soon as I get home.

Blackshark runs fantastic on my Nvidia GTX280 OC !! I couldn't be happier. I also have another good-system that has an ATI motherboard, and I have an ATI HD 3870 but I don't get quite as many frames, but it still runs very nicely on that system as well... just not as nice as on the Nvidia GTX280 system.

I agree as well, installed Vista 64 with 6 GB of ram ran SetAffinityII to all four cores (0,1,2,& 3) and had an 18 to 20 fps more in Black Shark! Finally a reason to want Vista on your computer if you have multiple core cpu's.

Bump: I agree with Kaos.dll in that we should have a standardized configuration before running the benchmark track, so that the results can be compared as much as possible. Default graphic settings is a good start, and probably the video resolution to 1024 x 768 for standard aspect displays, and the lowest for widescreen displays (1280x1024?) would be good too. Maybe set 0 AA and 0 AF and identify if done in XP or Vista 32 or 64. If in Vista, specify also if single core affinity or mutli core affinities are set for the DCS.exe (note: this is a manual function, not automatic just because you may have more than a single core cpu). And also specify the amount of ram used.

Thanks Wolfast, I look forward to using this one and other training missions.

How much impact do polls have on decisions?

Oh my, a Hornet with the carrier environment would be exciting for sure! -
Amazing teaser video, fantastic work Rhino! This should really boost the attendance for VFAT. Congratulations!

Very nice mission ronht, I have really enjoyed it, and continue to practice different techniques using it. Thank-you very much for the effort of making this and sharing it with us all.

Anyone have it installed on Vista X64 bit successfully, I was thinking of purchasing the 64 bit Vista version.

Great work on the images Legolasinder, helps to point out what you meant. Thank-You. -
Amazing, after trying out BS on two XP systems ( 1 dual core and 1 quad core) with no difference in fps when using either 1 or more cores... tonight I tried it in Vista and it is true, I went from 40-43 fps to 55-60 fps using the 4 cores of my AMD Phenom X4 9850 quad core cpu and windows Vista 32 bit!
-
So it seems that there might be improvement on Vista systems over XP (due to this and others chiming in on Vista systems that it does help), so I will have to do an install on Vista tonight to test this out, since my XP test on a quad core cpu showed no difference or improvement in fps. This might just be a feather in Vista's hat for once.

Please remember to post your OS that you are running when posting your results, it may be that Vista has an advantage with this Sim over XP but we won't know until further results are compared. I have one Intel Core2Duo system (3.2 Ghz) and 2 Quad Core systems (1= Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz and the 2nd= AMD Phenom X4 9850 @ 3.0 Ghz) to test this on. So to start off, I first tested it on the Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz running WinXP 32 bit with an Nvidia Quadro FX570 graphics card and 4Gb of system ram, no difference in fps from single core or enabling all four cores for DCS.exe. Tonight I will test the other two systems and then also test it while on Vista 32 bit.

Excellent. Thank-you. -
I have CH Pro Rudder Pedals and no problems at all. Installed BlackShark last night and they worked right off the bat. Now I am working on this Cougar profile for my FSSB-R2 HOTAS.

Awesome work guys, I'll be joining in once I get my sticks setup.
