x52 black shark profile?
nemises replied to Harry Cockpit's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Harry, If it's any use to you, I don;t use an SST profile at all for Black shark, and have simply mapped each dx button and axis directly in game, as I found teh games input layout to be extremely user frindly (ie. it lays out buttons in terms of location , collective buttons, cyclic buttons etc...). Anything not on the collective or cyclic I use the mini mouse to click in cockpit (with a few exceptions, such as laser standby, reset and start flare program) -
very cool thought tho, but without shader support ...

As for slowing to a halt.....you can be pretty agrresive with dumping collective and pulling up the nose...I'd say you can go from 200+ to 0 in less than 15 seconds ? .. havent tried to time or anything...there was a thread about it here tho wasn't there ? Be aware of 2 things though when doing an emergency stop: 1) your rotor RPM will decay alarmingly, literally, possibly dropping out anything powered by AC when the generators stop generating due to low RPM;) 2) you better be ready to quickly add collective again as soon as you pitch forward and your sink rate increases, or youre headed for a vortex ring related ride...

How do I put the virtual pilot in the virtual pit?
nemises replied to redeyemingo's topic in Bugs and Problems
I believe it is Ctrl-P :) -
Same goes for any Microsoft "natural" series ergonomic keyboards ... the pause / break and scrllk key's are shared, and differentiated by using the "f-lock" key.

Codecs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codec Things used to decode video and autdio streams. if you whatch any "non standard" video formats (divx, xvid, matrovska) , then you will have specific codecs installed...you might have a codec pack installed with dozens of differnt ones. Unfortunately, some of these can cause issues (allthough, to be honest, if the package installer isnt running, I wouldnt have thought a codec could cause it). Swap file: Is an area of hard disk space reserved for the OS to "swap" out what is in physical memory .. kind like using a bit of disk space to "pretend" it is extra Ram...of course, very very slow ram!. You can see what your swap file is set to by looking at your system properties (sorry no viasta here, so no blow by blow) .. chances are , if you don't know what it is, then it will be set to "let windows automatically manage my swap file" , which, as long as you have plenty of space on your system hard drive (C: usually) , say more that 2 GB, you should be fine. Try this, Have a look at your task manager and look at running processes (perhaps organised alphabetically) .. leave it runing Next, run the setup.exe. Have another look at your processes...has a new process spawned called setup.exe or MISInst.exe or anything like that ? If not, then I propose you re-download the setup.exe

The Rotaries (and slider) can be assigned as an "Axis" in game. On the options / controls screen, click on the drop-down menu (called "All"), and select the Green line (called "Axis Commands"). In there you will see everything that can be assigned an axis. If you then double-click the correct field (ie under where your X52 is listed) , and then turn the rotary, you should see it appear as "Joy_RX" or "Joy_RY". If the axis is reversed to how you want it, you can change it's behavior by clicking on the "Axis Tune" button near the bottom. If you want to use it as something other than an axis (ie for changing modes etc..), then you will need to programe in keypresses on the X52's SST profiler rather than in game options.

Data link button lights gone after cockpit mod.

Triple check that you are completeing the power up properly! The Datalink system needs AC power , and the lights wont come on unless your generator is cranking out AC power. Easiest way to check is to create a mission starting at an airbase, and turning on AC and DC external power, then turning on the DL system -
^^ not sure sorry, HOWEVER, if I'm not mistaken, Wags or EB has mentioned that the INU fix / innacuracy acumulation may be adressed in the patch (ie. it will start accumulating errors, and become necessary to do the fix .. presumably this will also mean that the INU fix point placement will be fixed in the ME?)

heh...the pause button used to be used to halt scripts and batch files in DOS or any win16 shell. doesn't get much use these days... DCS..keeping obselete keystrokes alive since 2009!

^^ +1 for the producers notes...absolutely invaluable...I musta whatched each one 20 times while waiting for the game to come out, and as a result, found I was able to control the bird pretty well pretty quick! It's definately worthwhile learning the coldstart, as you never know when you ned to troubleshoot in the cockpit, it is very useful to know where all the interesting switches are! As for closing cockpit door, it is right ctrl + C ... it must be RIGHT ctrl though, as it differentiates between the two.

^^ the acculated error he talks about is the fact that, even if you trim rudder, the spring mechanism on your USB pedals, or the twist on your stick will still re-center the physical controls, whereas in "real life" trimming would keep the controls at their trimmed center position....because of this it is very easy to over trim (double transforms!) the controls. You "shouldnt" really use reset trim, as it doesn't exisit in the real KA50 , but I guess it is an acceptable work around considering our auto-centering controllers. I find it very easy to press ctrl-enter , and manually re-trim rudders to center when flying. I certainly don't find it a problem though, once you know it hapenns, it is just another thing to be aware of when flying.

Unable to activate "Ground Move Target" and "Turn to Target"
nemises replied to zero's topic in Bugs and Problems
Must make sure you have turned on the weapons control power (switch on the mid right wall panel "weapons") , and also the enabled the weapons control panel (bottom left switch on the same panel as "turn to target" etc... I believe). Then, you also need to have the Yaw and bank stabailsation channels On , and flight director mode off (Right hand mid floor panel, 4 blue square buttons + 1 green on same panel) -
Monitor going into standby cannot be controlled by an application , this can only be set in the OS. Something is screwy if your monitor is going into standby with an active application running.

80% of in cockpit functions are accessed by the mouse anyway..just the flying part that really benefits from a hotas...but a twisty joystic is 90% of what you need for that too...just missing a collective axis, but I know you'll be used to using the KB for that anyway from other sims!. go ahead and buy, it really is the most fantastic modern sim ive ever flown (also have been simming for close to 20 years!)

10 minutes is pretty extreme! .. with a rig like that (assuming a reasonably modern sata HDD) , you should be loading in less than a full minute! your rig is similar to mine, tho I'm x86 , a dualcore cpu and a 260gt vid card , but specs are pretty close. Make sure you have sufficient space on your system drive for paging, or, since youve got x64 and 4 GB , turn paging off altogether. Might as well defrag the drive BS is on..go on, you know it needs it anyway (assuming NTFS or FAT). I'm not sure if you can run the exe in any sort of diagnostic mode (like -noSound or something) to try and eliminate peripherals from the equation unfortunately...might be worth checking all of our peripjheral drivers tho (sound card, vid card etc..) .. nothing I assume you haven't allready tried tho :(
-
I guess the assumption he's using is that you "have" to download the mods. well...I have not downloaded or installed a single mod to black shark yet... haven't neeted to, nor felt the urge. It looks and plays awesome..I get great framerates...I dont get wet over different skins etc (apols to any skinners), nor alternative sounds. I dont need DCSMax as im running XP. So simple answer is, dont download them ... the Sim stands up as a great one with or without them IMHO.

...spelling the word "wrong" for starters :P

It was very polished at release, however, as they say a project is never finished, it is only released. ED could have (and lets face it, nearly did ;) ) hold onto this thing for YEARS to polish it ... they finally let it out the door, but I bet there is a list of 1000 things they want to tweak a bit further / improve / change ... but you haveto reach a point where you say its ready to go out. Other wise it would never be released....we'd all loose patience, and they'd never make any money at all. The fact that people outside of ED's change control and time restraints are making these mods FOR LOVE of the sim, and are not constrained by publishers and deadlines is a huge positive in this community, and it is to ED's credit that they are given the leeway they are for our benefit. /rant :P

seceral minutes, and I have just tried again with the same effect. This time, I also see 15 or 25 "unknowns" sitting in spectator.

Hiya, I'm not sure why you;d be getting bad yaw on takeoff...check these things: 1) make sure the 3 Stabalisers are on (pitch role and yaw, the Blue square buttons on the right hand mid cockpit) , no need for the altitude stabaliser at this stage 2) press ctrl-enter , and see where your trim is set..it's possible you have accidentally trimmed your pedals on the roll ... make sure to center their trim all the time! (manually..do not use "reset trim" cheat!) 3) when you start travelling forward at more than about 100 kph, you will start to pick up a "lean" to the left, especially if using heading hold stabalisation and / or Route mode...this is normal! .. you "can" trim it out of it bothers you, but it is nothing bad.

tried to join the beta LRM server yesterday , and connected fine, but was unable to select any plane! Tried both sides, and all slots, but it would not assign me an aircraft and enable "fly". will try again today if it comes up.
