I never use it at all (or at least haven't found a need yet!) .. I fly with the "push and hold trim" method, which I belive has a similar effect, though with the added benefit of actually trimming the aircraft when I release...
-
^^ nice one, yeah, easy mistake...seems to be tricking a few people that. Enjoy, and don't be afraid to ask questions, these forums are pretty civil most of the time :)

Great Tango, looking forward to the release :)

the only thing I know about this, is that it is Automatically set to the correct setting when you load a ballistic weapon on the Shark....if you have 2 differnt ballistic weapon types..well, then I dunno :)

Bank,Pitch,Heading "Hell"... I mean "Help"
nemises replied to LoyalNine's topic in Bugs and Problems
yes, I have also seen this behavior, and never been able to pin a specific set of circumstances to it (ie too low etc..), except that, as Advent has said, it seems to occur when disengaging the auto-hover...all of a sudden it's like you are riding a bucking bronco ;)... easy enough to wrestle it under control and re-engage the AP channels ..still, would be nice to know, if it is a modelled feature, exactly what set of circumstances can cause it so to avoid. -
Hi Cayenne, No problem, there are 2 different ways you can go about it: 1) Open the game, and goto the options , and click on the "controls" tab. - select the appropriate mode you are flying in "KA50 Real" or "KA50 Game" (these are completely independent controls) - Assuming you are using "KA50 Real", then on the next dropdown box, select ""Ins Cyclic Stick" .. this will filter the commands that only exist on teh Cyclic control. - Look for the command "Hover on/off - on that row, look accross and find the column called "Saitek X52Flight controller" - Double-click on that row/column box , and it will open up a windows called "add assigment Panel" - in there, select the field called "key/button" , and then click the button on your X52 that you with to use for this function ...it will then populate that field with the button name ("joy_btn5" for eg). - Click on "Ok", then "ok" again at the bottom. - Now, the button you have assigned will activate that function when flying. 2) Alternatively, you can use the Saitek SST profiler , which you would ned to download and install from Saitek - In the SST software, create a new profile, and assign the key combo "Alt-T" to the button you want to use. - Make sure to load the SST profile you created when playing black shark

Aircraft can't lift off all the way off the ground
nemises replied to Goblin88's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah, well pointed out GW..I was just hoping he had mis-typed what was meant.. Goblin, The Generators MUST be on...once the engine RPM reaches above 80% , then they supply charge to the batteries (which power the DC items in the Shark), and also supply direct AC power to the AC items in the shark. Without the generators, you will not have any of the "cooler" in cockpit tools, like Shkval, or the UV26 flare dispensors ;) What I was indicating above is that you must switch off the EEG Gas test switch which is on the Right hand wall at the very rear (next to the EEG govenors)...as A16 has pointed out, the test switch causes the EEG to cut out horsepower earlier than standard so that it can be tested in ground conditions....without the horsepower, the engine RPM dropps badly when you increase collective, the Low RPM alarm sounds, and all of your AC powered items start dropping off as the generator no longer has teh torque required to put out AC power at the correct voltage (ampage??). Basically everything was cool with your startup except for that one switch that need to be turned off again (after you have used it to test the EEG on teh ground if you like! thats whay it is there). -
When you bank / roll the aircraft left or right, with natural head movement on, it will automatically compensate by rotating your "head" view in the opposite direction, thus keeping the Horizon roughly horizontal, as we do this naturally and unconsiously in real life, it is considered "natural head movement" .. some people don't like it tho, so it can be turned off :)

Aircraft can't lift off all the way off the ground
nemises replied to Goblin88's topic in Bugs and Problems
Track works fine, it's just been given an (accidentaly) invalid file name...you cannot have ".." in a file name..just rename it / take out one of the "."'s Anyway, have had a quick look , and definately "something" is wrong with your startup sequence as I was also getting low RPM issues after whatching your startup...I'll keep looking tho, as it did come right..the only things I cahnged were to turn Off the EEG Gas test, and play with the throttle....need to check it again tho, and will let you know if I figure it out *Edit* - Yep, its the EEG Gas gen test, looks like it is stealing lots of horsepower from the engine...you need to turn this off before operating the aircraft in flight (can one of the hard-hard-core flight procedure guys confirm this ?). Also, you should VERY MUCH consider turning on the Stabalisation / AP chanels for Pitch, Yaw and Roll before taking off, otherwise the damn thing is like a bucking bronco on takeoff. Try that tho, make sure the EEG Gas Gen test button is off (down), and the PA channels are on, and you should be golden. Good luck, and let us know how you get on! -
great, didnt realise you could do this...I knew it would snap to Target Points automatically, but having it snap to other DL target types will be very handy!

^^ I guess thats because I dont think Ed own the code to FC...Ubisoft do (am I right?)

Sorry mate, i'd love to help, but have not played game mode yet.... I strongly suspect however, that your game controls are stored in a comfig file somewhere.. try this...in the "realistic" controls click the "save profile as" button, and save it, then in "game" mode, click the "load profile" ... I woold have thought the game controls are just a sub-set of the realistic ones, though I suppose some things like "turn on radar" are game mode only ;)

Hi Rimpel, If you are talking about the training tracks, these are non interactive, and are designed to show you th aircraft systems as an observer...I belive you can take over control of the Shark though mid track (unsure of key strokes..is it ctrl-q ?)

DCS X52 axis_z slider_0 Help me
nemises replied to Kenoby's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Throttle is Engine Revolutions per minute, and is automatically managed by an engine governor once you set "automatic throttle" setting. The collective is what you use to increase rotor blade pitch and will make you go Up and down .. the collective is the control you should map to your X52 , not the throttle. -
Mission: On the Other Side... Need Help
nemises replied to Avatar72's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hmm...I definately remember getting an audio cue ...I belive its immediately after the su24's (?) drop some prescision ordanance on the SA6's (or similar)..you should see a couple of big explosions, and a massive framerate his ;) It is possible , given the nature of the trigger system, that a trigger condition got missed in that particularl run, however, IMHO, as soon as the su24's take out the big air defence units, it's time to roll in and pound the place... -
DCS X52 axis_z slider_0 Help me
nemises replied to Kenoby's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
this is using a translation service, sorry if it is bad italian: Go to the "options" screen, and select "Axis" - it is a green color. At that menu, you will see a control for "collective" , this you must click to change and then move the X52 Throttle to set. Hopefully someone who is bi-lingual can help further if you cannot understand this. Good luck! Buona fortuna! -
also, make sure to use a Hotas axis or key combo to ZOOM in teh game..this will save your neck a LOT of pain. I (generally) only use the Z axis in BS to look over or around the cyclic and access the switches on that panel...if I want to see something close up, I flick my slider and zoom in on it...as far as I know , this is the most common setup (zoom and view Z axis are 2 seperate things in game btw , so dont worry about loosing one to the other, they are mutually exclusive)

Simworld: Airfields, NDB's ...
nemises replied to 33 309th_Hedgehog's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hi Hedghog, Wags will be able to confirm, but I'm fairly sure he said that NDB's are coming online "in the future" and are not currently implemented... whether "in the future" means with the upcoming patch, or somewhere else down the line, I dunno.. Have a search through the forums..I know WAGS has mentioned this very topic before... ...or iI could be completely wrong...had a search and couldnt see anything..hmm.. -
^^ I kinda fly as if the trees were solid anyway ... thats good enough for me for now.. Flying above (and sometimes alongside) some of the forested areas on the map can be visually very very dramatic and immersive to me ... a very good visual implementation of trees in my view.

yeah, anyone on the same frequency and with an independant datalink ID (up to 4 people) can send and recieve targets. the ideal setup is with 1 commander and 3 wingmen (as set on the datalink dial), however, you can have 4 wingmen, or 4 commanders for that matter. if you need more than 4 people, then you could have multiple people as the same ID and on the same frequency, but just set to "recieve only" .. these people on recieve only will not show up on the Abris, nor can they send targets, but they can recieve them. (not tested ...but should work). An alternative is to set up mutiple flights on different frequencies, and nominate someone to pass targets between groups by changing frequencies.

NFI what you are saying, but I like it! ;)

yeah, the night vision will automatically be equiped if the mission start time is outside of daylight hours. To request, do as above, but make sure you either:- - request them BEFORE powering up the engines, and with the door open so the ground crew can hear you (seriously) OR - if you are allready powered up / door closed, select the "grnd" communication channel so they can hear you request it (dial, lower left hand near other radio panels..."gnd" is the farthest right option (clockwise))...Dont forget to change it away from "gnd" before taking off tho, or they will yell at you :) As for speed in the hud, it is actually allways there...look on the right hand side of the hud, you will see a vertical scale from 0 to 500 , with 2 markers on it.. One marker is your current speed , the other marker is your maximum advised speed (the speed at which you will start getting Velocity" warnings for overspeed...this marker will change depending on wind direction, altitude, load etc I belive (not sure how it calculates the "V" speed actually, but im sure some clever soul on here must) It is an analogue rather than digital readout on the HUD, but it is definately there..

They are powed by the "weapons" system...which is also run on AC power, so either ground AC , or the generators need to be running.. 2 switches need to be on, the "weap" power switch on the right hand side (near the ejector arming panel) , and then the K401 itself needs to be on (lower left switch on the K401 panel)
