  1. you need to reset (backspace) between asigning target's using the datalink: rough procedure: To store a target: - reset - engage shkval (make sure laser is also on standby for range info) - lock target or ground point using shkval - select the "target type" button (ie ground target, SAM target , other or Ingress point on datalink panel (top left) - press "send mem" button to store If you repeat that procedure (uncluding the "reset" at the start) , you can store up to 4 (?) of each target type To send one of these targets to a team member - make sure you are both on the same VHF2 frequency (orange dials on left hand side) - Make sure you are in radio range! (ie not further than about 20 km's, and not blocked by a hill or something) - Make sure you are both on different Datalink ID's (right hand side, dial selects "1" to "4") - make sure only 1 of you is in "Commander" mode, and all others are in "wingman" mode (right hand side dial next to Datalink ID's) - reset - store targets as above - reset - press the send to selection button(s) on the datalink (1, 2, 3, 4 or send to all) - press the "target type" button that you have stored and want to send..press multiple times to iterate through the number of targets you have stored - confirm on the Abris map that the target you want to send is flashing (if not, iterate through them with the target type button) - Double check to make sure both the "target type" and "send to selection" are lit, and that the correct target is flashing in your ABRIS. - click the "send mem" button To recieve and store a target - you must be on same vhf2 freq and be correctly set up as datalink group (ie 1 commander, the rest wingmean, all seperate ID's) - when sent a target you will get an Ekran warning "watch Ekran" - you will see the datalink buttons flashing for "target type" and for "datalink send to" identifying who has sent you the target, and of what type it is. - press the "send mem" button only to store this recieved target..it will now be visable on your ABRIS
  2. ^^ well...perhaps in the "game" mode, rather than the realistic mode? .. that could be a good place to start to have a mess around... Also, you can turn on "Labels" which will show you targets (Blue ones are bad guys)..-shift-F10 to enable/disable Alternatively, watch the Producers note video's on guided weapons..it is very descriptive and shows all of the procedures to get those guided weapons on target The rough procedure list is like this...do from a hover, not moving!: - all systems powered on (assuming you used auto power up sequence) - master arm on (black and white zebra swich near TV) - select inner or outer weapons pylon ("Y" or "U" ?)..outer for Vikhr's - Laser on standby (ie. switch up...switch is on the weapons panel on the left hand side) - slew the Shkval around and find target..press lock once to ground stabalise - zoom in on target in shkval, resize the shkval gate to fit around target, and lock again (should see TR , and shkval gate wil flash a little bit)...also should get a range reading, as the laser will fire on lock - put the thing in the thing (line up the two circles in the HUD...the little one is where the target is, the big one represents the Vickrs field of view) - if in parameters (ie the thing is in the thing, and you are under 7KM's range), you will see a "C" in the HUD and on the Shkval TV.."C" means, Good to Shoot! - Press (and hold) the weapons release button , *whoosh* , spiralling death - wait till the timer counts down, adn the "C" will show again. The hard parts are putting the thing in the thing, therefor to help you, the black shark has an "auto turn to target" mode, which, when in an auto-hover will automatically point you to wherever the Shkval is pointing...it is not perfect though, and you will still need to add a little rudder to line up the two things properly to let you launch. You can turn on this autopilot on the same panel as you turned on the laser... Press "reset" (Backspace) to get back to nav mode... easy
  3. yeah, ive never really felt the effect of the delay such that it is...I guess I just mash naturally ;)
  4. ... there can only be 1 client in a flight.. if you want multiple people, then you must create mutiple flights..there is no "workaround" for this ..it is as designed... You can add AI heli's as wingmen in a flight, not clients.. ..spare a thought for the guys that make Large multiplayer maps , as you can see how painful it can be creating each and every flight with each and every waypoint / flight name... it is a labour of love.
  5. Speaking of game, I was just in the Wimbeldon store (one of their main stores), and didn't see Black Shark. When I asked about it they said "yeah, it was on our list and was meant to go in the top 10 PC titles, but we never got any boxes". So...if anyone has any contacts in Game's distribution system (JimMack?), it might be worth mentioning that they should shoot 1/2 a dozen or so boxes to the Wimbeldon game...they get a LOT of walk through traffic, and there are quite a few other Sim titles in there (F4:AF, al the MSFS ones etc..) ... as it will go on their top 10 PC slot if they get 'em...
  6. good work mate, glad to see you back :)
  7. Ah....saw you posted you were doing that, but didn't put 2 and 2 together ... glad it's sorted mate, now you can kill from a much greater distance ;)
  8. That looks spot on, everything you should be seeing you are seeing, adn the setup looks fine...how frustrating! Have you tried setting "Manual" mode just to test the weapons release button ? (Do so on the weapons panel 2 switches below the master arm), in this way weapons will launch whether you have met parameters or not.
  9. Great! Well, thanks for the reply Mr Macy , I'll definately have to re-read (is on my list to re-read soon anyways:)) ... thats very intersting about the laser designator beeing driven from the back seat via the longbow. Here's hoping (for our benefit) , that the D / Mk1 gets enough declassifed info out that ED can make a sim for us using it! Will look forward to hellfire too ... Apache is the only real "miliatary history" book that i've throughly enjoyed, and I think thats because of the great technical detail you went into on the Mk1's systems and usage.
  10. Selecting ground crew freq effectively simulates the ground crew physically plugging in their headsets to the side of the Shark. When you move the switch to another frequency, they virtually remove their heaphone jacks. You dont "have" to change to ground crew freq, you can power down the shark and open the door...in this way the ground crew can hear you directly.
  11. + 1 for trackir Pedals are great, but trackir is UTTERLY essential...
  12. in lomac I used the mini-mouse to control shkval in the tfrog...since it is analog, it was excellent for fine control and fast scrolling too. It wold probably make the bast control method in BS too, but you kinda need to to click around the cockpit .... dang it ...cant have cake and eat it too!
  13. ..the alternative to using an SST profile , is to directly bind the buttons in game.. BS recognises all stick buttons and axis, and allows for using a "shift" key (ie. pinkie switch). I found this easier at first, as I could go into the menus (as nomnom suggests above) , go to the "cyclic" section and "collective" section, and just asign buttons directly as they should be.
  14. Be advised, there are seperate keystrokes / buttons for firing the cannon, and for releasing weapons. The other thing to check for is the "C" symbol in the HUD and Shkval TV indicating the selected weapons has all of the required parameters met .. once you see the "C" you should be able to press (and hold!) the weapons release key (as opposed to the cannon trigger), and stuff should come off the rails. As a quick and nasty test (to make sure you are using the release weapons key) , change the weapons panel to "Manual" mode.... this will allow you to launch weapons at any time, regardless of whether the appropriate parameters are met (allthough the laser will still need to be ranging / firing for Vhikrs to come off). *edit* Eth and Crunch both bet me to the punch too :P *edit*
  15. Sorry, no experience with it :( I believe I ended up hand drawing a representation of my hotas, and hand writing on the functions at first.... As for other functions...well...since everything is accessible in cockpit, I learned where the appropriate switches are and click them. Someone did send me a full key mapping spreadsheet at some stage, but yeah, it's a bit too comprehensive to be much use beyond creating a hotas profile :/
  16. flux capacitor
  17. (doh...true...lox propellant) /shame... Surely gunpowder needs O2 tho ?
  18. ya know, you can get rid of the satus bars down the bottom there....can't remember key combo tho...ctrl-f12 or something ?
  19. Propellant for rockets and bullets needs oxegen, sorry, no workee workee :)
  20. No, unfortunatewly this is a rendering bug from Lock On .. I've heard it can be taken care of by tweaking clipping values in some LUA or config file, but I have never tried....or is that the cloud shadow rendering bug?..hmm...
  21. There is also the potential issue of an over heated laser, which can cause similar issues. Ie you can stop getting ranging info...if you use "Manual" mode, then you might launch on a skkval target thinking everything is cool, when in reality the laser is not firing, and there for you have no ranging information or beam to ride....in this case, you Vhikr will go ballistic, and cannon rounds would usually fall short (having to ranging info for the targetting computer to adjust gun elevation). Easiest way , though, to tell is for you to post a track , as there is a few other reasons why this might happen.
  22. yeah, we all want that, however, ED are a very small company ... I suspect the complexity of changes, and especially the amount of detail ED go into with their beta testing contribute to the length of time it takes to realse it. Proof evident is in just how stable and aweome BS is at release. I guess it is economy of scale... rather than getting dozens of people to test 1 or 2 things every couple of weeks, you might as well accumulate many things, and get the dozens of people to test all at once...more efficient that way, as you aren't constantly putting out releases into public domain. 2c
  23. Its hard, but you need to get good with your HMS and be good calculating their trajectory, and having the shkval sensor waiting for them to pass through it. Easier to do from a hover of course, but then, you are a staionary target and they've probably allready shot you! Dont bother with vikrs unless they are more than about 4 KM's away and head on, as they can be a bit miss'y on moving targets (use AA target, and forward aspect targetting modes), cannons are your best bet from within that range... ...not that im an expert on it either, but I've shot down a heli or two...
  24. Ballisimo means "great" or "beutiful" in italian I think ? ...could google..too lazy
