In the mission editor, first button on the left hand side under the word "Mis" , looks like a clipboard , is "mission briefing" button. Once you click on that, on the right hand side you will see a type box called "start" with 12:0 :0 /0 which is your Mission start time in the format Hour:Minute:Second(?) / Day (0 .. 365 , where 0 = July 1st)

^^ you can turn off the backlight on the x52 LCD (as well as dim / turn off the button LED's) , but not the LCD itself.

[bug]between auto Hover and Fligh director
nemises replied to Skypat's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
hehe...the devil is in the details... I love that it is possible to even have an argument about whether the autover ques / enunciators should re-engage after a flight director override...lol...18 months ago, most of us wouldn't have even known WTF we were even talking about! -
to be honest, I've allways wondered the same thing :) .. I know the secondary ADI can be uncaged , and shows fine, but the primary doesnt show any pitch or roll and is allways flagged as caged. ...I guess I just assumed it was normal and left it at that...it would be good of someone in the know could clarify tho :)
-
(not that you should delete them, because it is handy to have them incase you want to re-install some day without having to re-download)
-
yeah...flag aliases would be great *hint hint ed* ;) ...also, I'm not sure how well flag setting / unsetting works in MP .. I remember trying to set something up that just would not work as a MP client, and I think it came down to the flags beeing set / unset fine on the host, but not on the clients..
-
I think you could use 1 flag per client to "store" if that client "has" the flag...+ a flag to store the state if each ingame flag itself (at base, or not). ie. Triggers to set grab flag values : if (clientx) in trigger zone "Red_Flag" and flag (red_flag_at_base = true), set flag (clientx_has_redflag) + un-set flag (red_flag_at_base) Triggers to "score" : if clientx in trigger zone "Blue_Flag" AND (blue_flag_at_base=true) AND (clientx_has_flag=true) action : message = "Blue Capture Flag" ..anyways, I think something quick and nasty like that could be mocked together quite fast...refining it would be down to any additional functionality the patch might bring to multiplayer flags and triggers...ie how to actually keep a "score" based on "captures" + how to set a "game over" .. ..lolpers
-
^^ once multiplayer "flag" settings are fixed in the patch (pun intended) , it should definately be possible...:) ... if you want a hand looking into it, or testing, just drop me a msg, I think it'd be quite funny to impliment...

Yes you can run the Shkval only in second screen, there will be an FPS drop (in theory) , and as long as you are running XP , you can run mutiple monitors "full screen" , as oppsed to in Vista where you can only span , and therfore need to use windowed mode in the game.

I've seen it go crazy once or twice when using "ground moving target" and "auto turn to target" at the same time, when the target moves out of the scan azimuth (perhaps because of too much rudder input from pilot :) ) A quick reset, and re-allocate, and re stage the Autohover takes care of it..

POLL: English or Russian cockpit labels
nemises replied to einar-st's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
english here...I find the sim fully immersive , but do not have the desire to trainspot it to death :) -
Russian cockpit images used in English printed manual
nemises replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
...think of all the time and effort that has allready been put into the printed manual.. ...now subtract that time and effort from what is going into the patch and / or the A10 , and / or the other modules in play, because thats what this is..ED don't have unlimited resources, and they have us baying at them for everything now and exactly and only as we personally want it! just STFU, buy the manual as is and be greatful they bothered to even do it at all! -
I have a VERY BIG NEWS about SKINS and MISSION - DcsMax 1.6
nemises replied to Skypat's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Did you know that you can load SST profiles on the fly using only the joystick? Press and hold the "i" button (little one in the middle of the small throttle rotary) , then use the main hat switch on the stick to navigate around your directory sctructure (directory and file names will be output in the MFD on the throttle) .. up /down to scroll in directory, left to unload a profile if one is loaded , and right to either go into a sub-directory, or if a profile is highlighted, then it will load that profile! ... select the [..] and press right on the hat to go up a directory level. ...unfortunately thats only good for the X52 and PX52 pro ... havent figured out how to load rudder pedal profiles on the fly. Ti's usefull tho, say for eg. in lomac where you might be flying multiple aircraft type per session.. -
yeah, de-activate first...it will not use up any of your 3 activations, but it will use up one of your 10 de-activations :)

Engaging multiple targets simultaneously
nemises replied to EtherealN's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
the only "danger" of this method is that you are re-starting the laser (fires for 30 seconds) everytime you hit the "lock" button even when just slewing off...which means you are potentially firing the laser a lot more than you want to be, and could come accross the dreaded dead laser issue sooner than expected. Still, when fluidly changing targets like that , I guess you want constant ranging updates Normally if I am switching targets now, I'll turn othe laser to standby, hit "lock" and slew off , turn the laser off standby and lock new target. -
yeah, tis a shame in some ways, however, without any IFF (other than correctly using the datalink system) , it is handy for Multiplayer mission makers to be able to allocate skins depending on the side , so at least there is a chance of visually id'ing if is friendly KA50 or not in a battle!

...though also bare in mind it doesn't suite some people! .. I know of two people who have purchased trackir and returned it as they could not get used to the head movement, and ended up getting headaches. I personally cannot live without it, and allmost every game now I expect to b able to turn my head to look around...would be good if more PS's supported this ;) As for 3d / 6 DOF , I couldn't agree more with the original poster, the KA50's 6dof cockpit is absolutely the greates cockpit I have even been in outside of real life.

Only within ME I'm afraid.

Multi-Vikhr deplyoment logic
nemises replied to JaBoG32_Prinzartus's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Shouldn't really have to use Manual mode...although if you keep to within paramters then I suppose there is no harm (I'm sure the Russian Army air command would have something to say about it tho !) Like Jigsaw said, if you have the weapon mode selector switch set to "Long" , it will launch 2 vhikrs very quickly one after the other...probably within .1 of a second of each other, but you MUST hold the button down ..if you just "click" the button, only one missle will launch. Same goes for Burst lengths WRT Cannon and Rockets.... -
awesome one... enjoy!... be prepared to be reading the manual a bit ;)

POLL: Would you rather see A-10 or AH-64a as next module?
nemises replied to Sharkster64's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I am an native english (well Kiwi) speaker (bro) , and allways kinda thought it was "Who's" as in an abreviation for "Who is" .. -
Engaging multiple targets simultaneously
nemises replied to EtherealN's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Also, I'm not sure you can overide the launch cool down...so unless you launch in "Long" mode (ie. 2 Vhikrs) , I'm not sure you could cook another one off in time. Having said that, you can cook off 12 Vhikrs at 12 targets in less that 2 minutes , so thats not too bad! ... probably even beats the LOAL kill box in the 64D ! ;) -
It all depends on how you are trimmed, and if you have heading hold enabled (which you should). There is allmost allways a small offset .. the autopilot is only so accurate .. You must manually trim to a Perfect hover, Then engage auto hover... then engage turn to target. If you are offset slightly then press and hold the trim button, adjust the amount of yaw you need to line it up properly, and relase the trim button. From there until you re-trim, your auto-turn should be pretty accurate (assuming small or no cross wind).
