  1. yeah, I dont think you can control that sorry... One possible work around is to create the choppers as "in flight" but going at 0 kph at an altitude of 1 Mtr ? ... they would spawn in with engines started, and would drop like a stone , but they would atleast be in the right position ...?
  2. ...well, no...I believe the delay just needs to be such that it will not expire before the trigger conditions are met. 23 hours is just a convinenient figure to use because ...well...its a pretty long time for a mission to run ;) .. might be wrong tho?.. Davek, Make sure you set up your coalitions as you want them. Create the friendly (?) su27 and make sure it's starting waypoint is "takeoff from parking" , and that is has other waypoints to travel too. In the start delay time for the su27 set 23 hours (or like...whatever :P ) Create the enemy unit / group that you want to activate the trigger , then create the trigger zone , and set the area you want the trigger zone to cover. Make sure to name it something usefull like "su27_activate_trigger_zone"). Create a trigger condition with an action type of "activate group". Specify the trigger zone you created (su27_activate_trigger_zone) Specify the enemy unit that will activate the trigger, and the group to activate(the friendly Su27 unit). Once the specified enemy unit enters that trigger zone, the trigger condition will activate the su27 group (that was on hold for 23 hours) and it will appear, taxi and takeoff along it's mission route. To help you test / troubleshoot , add in a "message" action to the trigger also , so you can see a message appear when the trigger is activated..you can take it out after you have everything up and running.
  3. note not all keyboards (read old 101 keyboards etc..) have this key..in that case, I guess you'd need to remap to keys you do have.
  4. heh...I think we all hit the mountain on that one the first couple of times...
  5. Hiya trlrandall, Are you running the setup.exe with administrator privaleges in vista? To do so, you must right click on the setup.exe and select "run as administrator" .... if the user you are logged in as is not an administrator allready, then you will also need to know the administrator password. both the setup.exe and data1.cab need to be in the same directory when running the installer. the file sizes (size on disk) I have are as follows: setup.exe : 1,404,207,104 bytes data1.cab : 940,990,464 bytes Those should be the same as yours...right click on each file and select "properties" to find the "size on disk" and compare, to make sure your download is complete. When I run the setup.exe I get a small (macromedia?) program splash screen come up with a progress indicator saying "checking install files" .. do you get this?... once that has finished (about 30 seconds) , the another small "KA50 Black shark" splash is shown, then a full screen installer thereafter....an a regular program install process to follow. Have a look at these things and compare to what you are seeing, then write back with exactly what you are doing and seeing, and hopefully we can get to the bottom of it :)
  6. ^^ because then there is the issue of ownership rights and support. If a 3rd party develop's and releases something, a 3rd party addon in this case, even if ED encourage and support it fully, it would be a lot more complicated to "take ownership" .. if it was released in an official patch or even as part of the full game release, then they are selling a 3rd party addon, which breaches their own licensing. ...much easier for everyone if it was to remain a seperate 3rd party addon I believe...that way the boundry's of what is free, and what is a commercial product are not confused. ..my thoughts anyway
  7. the active clip should give you better tracking, as it is actively transmitting (?) infrared from its LED's...this means you can turn the filtering on the camera all the way up and still see the tracking...this will help in eliminating any accidental signals you might recieve from mirror reflections in teh room, or say, sunlight on the wall behind you which can mess up the tracking. I also find that with the track clip pro on, I am much less likely to get gimble lock when looking around, as there is an optimal allignment for each games field of view....
  8. ...wait..Germany is a country?!?
  9. There should allways be a jump in performance when moving to a faster CPU , and also if you are running Vista, you should also see a performance boost on top of that by using the affinity trick ....is that what you are asking??
  10. Hi Rocker, I cant answer all of your questions, because I am about to dash out, just wanted to say, stick with it...everything you want to do above is possible , other than referencing the controls ingame. Check in the game install directory for a sub-directory called "Doc" , in there you will find 2 .pdf's (acrobat files) , "DCS-BS_Key_Commands_Ka-50_real_eng.pdf" and "DCS-BS_Key_Commands_Ka-50_game_eng.pdf" along with the other manuals. You could refernce or print out the key guides for in flight refernce. Unfortunately, in order to reference back to what you have set on your joystick / hotas will mean writing it down (thats what I did when first learning). For your takeoff power issue, make sure you have not set the "throttle" axis! .. you must only have the "collective" axis set ... if you DO have the throttle axis set as well, then you must make sure that it is set in "automatic power" mode , by looking to the back lower left in cockpit at the 2 yellow handled levers, which are the throttle settings. I would say, unbind the "throttle" axis, and just use the default keys of "page up" and "page down" to controll throttle.... you should only ever be touching the throttle during power up or power down whilst on the ground, the rest of the time it should be in "auto" power mode (Page up twice if starting engines manually).... the "emergency power" setting can also be used also in emergency's (ie an engine out), but that is a detail too far... In that same directory is the "DCS-BS_GUI_Manual_eng.pdf" , which I believe will direct you as to how to set up a multiplayer game using "game" mode ... it is possible, and just needs to be set in the mission options....
  11. Keep trimming and re-trimming untill you come to a full stop (or near enough)...each time you trim in autohover mode it resets the hover position. If you are travelling too fast (say over 20 kph) when you engage autohover, and you are not properly trimmed to stay stationarry, then the autopilot cannot give sufficient input to counteract your trimming and motion. Come to a full stop MANUALLY ... fully trim for a hover...then and only then engage auto hover. THEN, trim again...and if the circle keeps drifting a little, then hit trim again...and again, and again!..:) you will get it into a stable hover I promise, you just cannot do it from a moving position (well..you can, but for starters, you need to do it from stationary). You should also make sure you are not rising or sinking, and once stable , you should hit the "f" key for the collective break. This will set the goal height for the autopilot ..keep hitting it like the trim button so that it eventually comes to a stop vertically.... Dont forget, the auto pilot can only give + / - 10% input from your current trimmed postion on the Cyclic, and the current setting on the collective....if you are not manually at a full stop , then the autopilot may not have the authority to counteract your trim / collective. If you press the rudders, or are trimmed off center with the rudders (press ctrl-enter to check trimming setting) , then the choper will start to drift. Instead use Auto turn to target to yaw when in auto hover... if you must input rudder controls, the you must retrim again and again to keep her stable. Good luck :)
  12. If you were in the UK I could put it on a dvd for you...but as you're in china, I'm sure thats breaking some law or the other :/ If it turns out you actually are in the UK, the slip me a PM, and I'll shoot you the files on a disk.
  13. Hi Mith, Someone in our squad in the UK is looking , I will point him to this thread :) cheers
  14. it seems possible.... go to the controls section, make sure you are in "KA50 Real" mode (assuming you don't fly arcade / game?) in the middle drop down box select "INS Collective Stick" , then bind the controls "collective up" and "collective down" by double clicking on the appropriate row under the "Mouse" collumn..and in the windows that pop up, open the drop down box called "Key, Button" , and you should see all of your mouse buttons listed. Select the appropriate button for whatever control you are setting. Repeat for the others. The Rudder keys can be set the same way if you select the "INS Rudder" filter from the middle box in the controls section. The only real isuse I see is that you "might" loose the ability to click on things in the cockpit if you bind the left mouse button to something else ?...maybe not though, as I assume you would switch into "mouse look" view for flying, and mouse click view for colckpit clicking (is it alt-C ?) .. try it an see, and let us know. Good luck, and get a joystick as soon as you can!!! (and then a throttle, and then a trackir and then rudder pedals ;) )
  15. I have certainly heard "them" mention a desire to do it...unsure of the likely hood tho, still..would be great! (along with all the other modules which will also be great!)
  16. agreed with that, good suggestion Matt.
  17. Good call Chris, couldn't agree more
  18. it's used to desend while in a hove at a safe rate. It is exceptionally dangerous to decend when in a hover because of the risk of entering a vortex ring state (also called settling with power)...this effect will essentially "suck" you towards the ground if you decend faster than about 5m/sec when stationary, or moving slowly. Decent mode will decend you at 2m/sec , so is a safe (if a little slow) way of doing it in "hands off" mode.
  19. no, ctrl-enter bring's up a visual chart showing where the controls are currently set, which means yoiu can tell where they are trimmed, and manually re-trim to center....so what he means is, he checks the ctrl-enter overlay to tell if his rudders are trimmmed off or not, and then re-center's and re-trim's to neutral. I also use the method to check and re-trim to neutral
  20. damn, you have the auto hover button bound to your brain!?!...I need me one of those control systems ;)
  21. Sounds great!... Love the inclusion of trigger based events (flares and explosions) , makes many many more scenario's possible now.
  22. I know a few years back (back when I was an animator) , there was a free version of 3dsmax called GMax ... I believe the only restriction on it was that you couldn't render without a watermark. However, does the Gmax toolset not allow for UV unwrapping 3ds files? It was Free , and designed for people to use as a game / low poly modeller.... If it pans out that you can use GMax to unwrap, I strongly urge any talented photoshoper / texture artist to have a go at unwrapping some model's using gmax..there are TONS of tutorials out there with good workflows for doing it... it takes a bit of time, but is very necessary. ...and if it can add to the talent pool in simmod , then all good!
  23. ..or like, a 600 page manual! ....wait... ;)
  24. just proves the GPU is not your bottle neck..:)
  25. Not quite... The 4 Blue buttons to the right hand side control Pitch, Roll , Heading and Altitude holds...these should be on (except for altitude) all of the time. If you engage Route mode, it will engage another seperate mode that will autmatically fly towards the Nav point you have selected in the PVI, but even with Route mode off, Heading hold, Pitch and Roll stabilisation will still be on, and helping to control the aircraft. If you have Route mode engaged, you will not need to re-trim to a new heading, as the Route autopilot will do this for you automatically. You need to trim and re-trim and re-trim and re-trim all of the time when not in route mode though (including in Auto Hover!..keep trimming!!!) Some people (myself included) use the method of pressing and HOLDING the trim button whenever you move the joystick or rudders, and only release the button when you are at the desired pitch / roll / heading / whatever... What this does is temporarily disable the Hold's for the duration of the manuever , and automatically re-engages them when you release at the tend of the manuever, and as a result , you get the best of both worlds: intuitive control without the assistants, coupled with stability when you release.
